For those unfamiliar with the A Cappella Academy, it is a 10-day intensive Summer music camp for kids 12 to 18 years old, from around the world. Prospective students have to do a video audition, demonstrating various basic skills, and if chosen, join 60-65 others to learn vocals, performance, theory, and specialties like beatboxing and bass singing (which co-founder Avi Kaplan often teaches - imagine having him as your coach!). Ben Bram (PTX producer/arranger/engineeer) and Rob Dietz (composer/arranger and co-arranger/conductor of this song) are also founders, otherwise known as the ACA Dads. Normally the camp is held at a university campus near Los Angeles (the same one where PTX's "Can't Hold Us" video was shot), but last year and this year, classes became virtual. This song of Avi's is from the 2019 class. After you've heard it, you'll understand why, despite all of his success and fame from 6 years with Pentatonix, Avi has stated more than once that A Cappella Academy is his proudest, fondest accomplishment yet.

I'm glad you were able to use my suggestion, Lyle. There are a lot of videos of all of the classes of the A Cappella Academy from 2014 through the virtual 2020 class. Speaking of which, here's a video of a song performed this last year, all remotely, of ACA co-founder Rob Dietz's composition "Cells". (The singers you'll see toward the end, wearing their official ACA purple t-shirts, are A Cappella Academy alumni from the 5 previous years.) ruclips.net/video/6hw_z9w_sgA/видео.html

I love this! I've seen it before but it is so amazing to listen to. It was great to "see you" at Avi's show and know that you appreciate his music too. I hope you enjoyed the show. Avi's voice was on point that night, Noah and Caleb were angels, too! I can't wait until those new fire songs are released and I'm crossing my fingers that you'll react to The First Place I Go. 🎶🎶🎶🔥🔥💚💚💚

Even funnier is in Christian's Crazy Life (tall skinny bass singer in the top row middle left) day 10 this is shown along with Rob's introduction before he conducts and includes his "Avi impression" while talking about how the ACA ended up performing Avi's song with Avi standing there who had just given his own comments about the ACA.

Great reaction! I love all the ACA music I've heard so far. One of my favorite performances by some of the kids from ACA is from 2015. I still can't get the knack of doing this URL thing so forgive me please but I suggest( A CAPPELLA ACADEMY )Soulfege- Higher Ground.

That was Beautiful!!!! And I saw Sweet Nolan Gibbons (Beatboxer & Singer) from "Acapop! Kids" (That Scott Hoying from Pentatonix Co-Founded)!!!! R.I.P. Nolan Gibbons
You should checkout some of The "Acapop! Kids" covers like "And I am telling you I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls, "Bohemian Rhapsody / Somebody to Love" Mashup, "Sunflower" by Post Malone & Swae Lee, "Dynamite" by BTS, "High Hopes" by Panic at the Disco, "Shallow" by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper, & "Rain on Me" by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande!!!!

Ah perhaps he should look at the ACA first because that is where Nolan and the other kids come from. Nolan died suddenly (for those who don't know) after the 2019 A Cappella Academy camp season. He is the redheaded kid with the bow tie in the front row near the center. It was his second season at camp and he was in Christian's performance group. Nolan as beatboxer and Christian as bass singer.

@@kaymoraa3317 yes in August of last year. To clarify this performance of Avi Kaplan's The Seed was for the 2019 camp. 2020 was done remotely due to the Covid 19 pandemic and you can see Nolan in those as well. He died in August of 2020.

@@kaymoraa3317 I don't quite understand your comments but apparently I have upset you in some way for which am sorry. I always use the term died instead of a euphemism since my husband died after a long illness and I had one neighbor who had particular trouble understanding when I said first that Ralph had gone, then he was no longer with us, then passed and finally got him to understand by being direct.

Having directed adolescent-college choral groups, the harmony, phrasing and dynamics were excellent...however, the diction could have been more unified...I’m not familiar with the song, so I struggled to understand several words. After all, the words are the most important aspect of any song and the music merely the delivery.
