    I just love that Apple forces users to use convoluted and stupid ways to do the most basic of things.

    Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You saved my life. My boyfriend bought me a new laptop for Christmas and I loved it but was soooo worried about my music from itunes not coming over into my new computer library and hence backing up on my phone so I pushed back on completing the task for months. I've always been worried about getting a new computer because I know Apple used to be really strict about accessing iTunes library on different computers. I bought a $20 system to transfer my music from iTunes over to my first new laptop I bought almost 6 years ago. I was going to use it again but the system wasn't working on my new computer. I'm glad it didn't because I wouldn't have come across this video, which I will be saving into my bookmarks. Thank you again!

    Thank you! In the past I've had to add each song to iTunes individually one by one and it took several hours.

    Will this also include photos , videos and apps that were backed up on the old Computer or is it strictly JUST music?

    I have iTunes on my flash drive, but when it comes to install it on my brand new windows 10 computer, it doesn't say "copy", it says "copy to path, and that's where I get lost.

    Well, you definitely helped with this issue, but "... sync back up your library again". Yeahhh...log on, nothing is there, so I'm guessing "syncing" is another video. Somewhere. Link would be nice. (Technical writers spell it out, sorry!) Thank you for getting me this far.

    That was quite helpful but may be at least 50% of what I was looking for was neglected… Opening up iTunes and importing the library from that folder. In any event I'm halfway there - thanks for the Intel.

      When you transfer your library did you have to recheck your songs again or were your songs already checked as you had them in your previous library?

    Curious...If I am copying the iTunes folder from one PC and placing it in the same exact location, as that of another iTunes folder on a different PC, will the libraries merge/combine? Same iTunes account, just music on two different PC's that I want to combine. No playlists. Thanks!

    So I had to send my laptop in to be fixed (ie my hard drive was wiped), I had no idea that I had to copy my iTunes library (it's the internet!), I had downloaded about 40 CD's to iTunes (so I could get rid of the CD's of course), I just brought up my iTunes account and only have about 100 songs (previously had about 400), is my music just gone? I am about to jump off a building right now

    • @Pebles_chat

      No one seems to know the answer to this. I spent long time setting playlist so it’s pains me that I can’t copy it in exact format

  • @dmbennell1799
    @dmbennell1799 Год назад

    That's a good idea but my library is over 100gb, so copying that one folder is nearly impossible. I prefer physically moving the external drive, with library on it, to the new pc and reset the location that way.

    Here's what I did , and there was no need to do all of that. 1ST open iTunes on your old computer.......go to "my account", and it shows you how you signed in. Write it down, and hope you remember your password or saved it. 2ND on new computer download iTunes, and just sign in. That's all you have to do. Plain and simple.

    • @SADFORIAN
      @SADFORIAN 2 года назад

      That worked for me, thanks. I knew it had to be A LOT simpler than was presented (a USB stick?).
      I'd only add that "sign in" is under the "account" tab, and once the library is transferred, that new computer needs to be "authorized" (also under the "account" tab).
      Also, Apple will deliver a code to your "trusted device" (to my iPhone in my case) when it sees a new device that requires permissioning come online.
      Thanks again.

    • @mqs.u
      @mqs.u 2 года назад

      @@SADFORIAN How did you download the music on the new computer? I signed into itunes with the same account and authorized my computer but nothing has downloaded. What am i missing?

    • @SADFORIAN
      @SADFORIAN 2 года назад

      @@mqs.u My previous computer's downloads didn't transfer automatically either, so apparently it has to be done manually all over again on the new machine while connected to the internet.
      I did two album downloads so far as a test on the new computer just to make sure it worked.
      Selected "Albums", right clicked over the album cover art that popped up, selected "download".
      To check, went back to "songs", and under "artists" for the album downloaded, the cloud symbol should not be alongside the songs from the album downloaded, indicating that those songs are now stored on board the computer.
      You can also dump your internet connection and open itunes up, at which point the only songs you should be able to play will be from those first test albums you chose to download.
      I think I've got it figured out, but you never quite know with Apple.

    • @SADFORIAN
      @SADFORIAN 2 года назад

      @@mqs.u I may have been wrong in assuming you were at least seeing your library in the cloud, just not in downloads, but it's instead non-existent (a blank iTunes palate).
      If that's the case, you need to "transfer library". It been a few days, so I don't remember just where I saw that option, but it's in there, and once selected, that's where Apple sends you a code to a "trusted device", at which point you enter it on the new machine when prompted.

    • @KennethLeung38
      @KennethLeung38 2 года назад

      If you have imported into your itunes library music or audio files from CD's - those are not transferred to the iCloud account and won't automatically download to new computer.
