Great video. I am a bit older and have problems handling a tall extension ladder by myself. I knew there had to be a specific technique and a firefighter would have it.
What is the safety reason for rotating the fly out when climbing? I’ve seen people climb with the fly in. Their reason being when climbing down when their foot leaves the fly to go to base they have to reach in for the next rung. They feel it increases their chances of falling back when climbing down. I always thought fly should be out but cannot recall what the safety reason is?
You guys can bench press 300 pounds. Now, show a woman under 115 lbs do it. Then show how a person with a bum back to do it. Many owners back are not as strong as you guys.
Are you guys kidding he almost carried it right 😂 and you guys are firemen better let OSHA retrain your guys before that ladder rolls over that guy's head an pulls him over you put 1 hand on the step he was using then one hand 1 skipped step down and carry 3 inch in front of your head with ladder against your shoulder that way you dont hurt your self and ya dont roll ladder over when it against a structure that causes damage to property I guess that's fine if your buildings burning down though but not good for people to follow these instructions if there trying not to get hurt or damage their home. Is this a viable technique for a 5'4 person? I will be trying this next shift
