So here's some information about BTS. BTS is a 7 member (3 rappers and 4 vocalists) group from South Korea. BTS is currently the biggest group in the world and were the best selling music artists in the world in 2020. Their names are Jin age 28 vocalist, Suga/Agust D age 28 rapper, J-Hope age 27 rapper, RM age 26 group leader and rapper (he is also the only member who is fluent in english), Jimin age 25 vocalist, V age 25 vocalist, and Jungkook age 23 vocalist. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan in korean which translates to bulletproof boy scouts in english, BTS started formation in 2010 with RM as the first member and they officially debuted as a group in 2013. They do all music genres including hiphop, rnb, pop, edm, neo-soul, latin, and jazz. 2 of the members Suga and RM were actually underground rappers in South Korea before joining BTS and got a lot from their peers for joining a pop group. BTS have had 3 number 1 songs on the Billboard hot 100 chart (Dynamite, Savage Love BTS remix, and Life Goes On) and have had 5 number 1 albums in the US in less than 3 years. They are also the first music artists to chart on the billboard hot 100 chart in 3 different languages (korean, japanese, and english). BTS broke the record of the most video on youtube in 24 hours with their first fully english song called Dynamite with 101.1 million views. And Dynamite is currently the 3rd most liked video of all time on youtube (only behind See You Again and Despacito). Dynamite also received a grammy nomination this year making BTS the first all korean group to be nominated for a grammy. BTS fanbase is called ARMY and it's very diverse with people of all ages, races, nationalites, and genders. BTS members help write and produce a majority of their songs and they have a discography of over 200 songs. They discuss important subject matter in their songs such as mental health, self love, loss, societal expectations/injustices, economic inequalities, and so much more. BTS came from a small and almost bankrupt company in South Korea and were told by everyone around them they would never make it, but look at them now. They are constantly breaking records, winning awards, and inspiring people all over the world. But BTS are still looked down upon because they are considered a "boy band", because they are asian, and because they sing/rap predominantly in Korean. If you actually read the comment you'll see that it's basic info that most reactors ask from the first few vids they do on bts, and so in that sense it's really not too soon because it's not an overload of useless info. No but for real I was judgmental about BTS at first. Used to be strictly a hip hop head and r&b but the more I listened to BTS’ discography and the more I learned about them, what they stand for, the fact that they started from the literal bottom AND their music/performance is fire? People always hate on them although they have proven themselves time and time again. I am glad that they have dropped that mic by winning so many awards. They are musical geniuses and write and produce the majority of their music. Every performance is like a musical production or movie. These men are constantly grinding, and they are fire! I hope one day they will make a hard hitting song in English like "Mic Drop", "Daechwita," "Fire", "Tony Montaña", or "Cypher 4pt. If you haven't already, you need to watch Who is BTS and From Nobodies to Legends to get more info on the members and their rise to the top. Some of these guys came into BTS with zero dance or vocal training and they were all poor as dirt (all slept in ONE room) until they made it big. I think the thing that shocked me most were the death threats by the 'haters'. Let's just say Kpop fandoms are very competitive, sometimes c-r-a-z-y!

Check out their song Hiphop Lover I love the way its not uniformed that it's raw in a way and they say what they wanna say. I love how in Korea rap isn't something that's copied from America but rather influenced by and altered to fit their own culture and language. They're not rapping about drugs, being in a gang, or woman but basically telling a story threw their words that not than many American rappers can do in this day and age.

There’s some real industry sabotage things that happened to BTS. Even now, the US doesn’t make money off of them except for their distributor.
Billboard acts really funny when it comes to BTS when it comes to charting bc the fans keep up with the numbers and billboard still haven’t explained why they only counted streams from Spotify and not the other streaming platforms for one of their previous releases.
Also their distributor (Columbia Records) has other artists they are throwing out for BTS’ next release drop. Why? Because they know the fandom are pulling for number one and they will make more money this way. Giving off Lou Pearlman vibes.
I say all this bc despite huge success BTS are outsiders and unless their label actually shells out payola and plays dirty (they don’t) they will always be at a disadvantage. They will always have people taking advantage of whatever they can get ahold of.
The industry is used to deciding who is the next ‘hit’ and they want BTS to move aside so they can charge their artists and fans to get the next big song. You’ll be able to spot those industry plants by comparing demand/streams/ticket purchases to just how much radio play and playlist spots they get. It’s a racket and BTS always get scraps when it comes to radio and play listing even though they can sell out 2 US stadiums to every one small venue of the other heavily played artists.
