I absolutely love the skywalk system. I think it was originally intended to link the BTS stations with nearby attractions, not necessarily to be a transportation route in its own right. But I think they've started seeing the opportunity, and are trying to connect a lot of the skywalk sections that are inexplicably unconnected. I'd love to see a skywalk under most/all of the BTS track, at least in "downtown".
Yes it is correct, at the beginning they make the sky walk for connecting the BTS station to the shopping mall, and people like it, then they expanding to many area.
It all started in early 2000's Central Group(Central world) in cooperation with Siam Piwat (Siam Paragon)and BTS sharing the cost to build the first Bangkok skywalk to connect each other. That time the news paper called it hi-so(high soceity) skywalk/bridge. I remembered reading the news. And now in 2023, skywalk are all over Bangkok.

My wife and I will be there next week. We plan to use the skywalk from Platinum to Siam Paragon. I just hope its a good walk. : Thanks for the update Global Mate.
I love the rain and don't even mind walking in light rain. This Skywalk has really bumped Bangkok as a long term destination. I don't particularly like living in the heart of the city but this Skywalk could make things more tolerable.
Keep up the good work! It is videos like this that really helps us get a better feel of how to navigate around Bangkok and Thailand in general. I am planning to bring my wife to Bangkok next month and if i wanted to meet you and your girlfriend and buy you guys lunch or just chat over coffee, it that possible?
Most hate rainy season but for me just walking and roaming in days off and see people walking and feeling wind touch my skin and listening to the sound of rain is the best part in rainy season thanks for sharing video❤
The City of London starting developing what was to be 30 miles of skywalks ('Pedways') in the mid-50's. It was to be an extensive system of linked Pedways. By the mid-80s, the scheme had effectively been discontinued, although some minor extensions were added in 2017. Many of the Pedways still exist, but the system is a mere shadow of what it should have become. It is brilliant that BKK has, and still is developing their system, especially useful during heavy rain and hot sunshine, as well as safer due to not needing to cross roads and transverse dodgy pavements.
I agree those skywalks are great. There could be better connectivity but I'm seeing improvement. I can remember defying death crossing the road at the Asok intersection 20 years ago - what an improvement today!
Jeroen, did you ever consider buying and testing one of those folding bicycles from Lazada? I see a very good looking folding bicycles for 200 USD even less, and they come with disc brakes and shimano parts. What I am interested in is their quality, but for some reason I believe they are the exact same bicycles that are sold here in Europe for 1000 euros each!? If you didn't have a chance to test one maybe you can ask your bicycle expert friend from Decathlon about it? Or you can buy one for Mirela and test it in one of yours upcoming videos :) Thanks for nice vlogs, as always! P.S. If I am correct, you can bring folding bike in BTS and MRT right (in folded state)? Which in turn makes you a super mobile in such a huge city.
Yes, I absolutely agree! I am always amazed by supermodern architecture in Bangkok and surrounding green areas but when you make one step outside, there are pretty poor sidewalks. I think Bangkok would look so much better if they start to improve those sidewalks. Hope to see that improvement soon!
Bangkok is known, across the world, for its colourful street life - street food, street vendors etc - The sky walks are designed, built and maintained to avoid the Bangkok street life. 😂

westerners moved to Thailand and Bangkok because in their country, they living far away from the city centre, in the countryside or suburb which is very quiet and isolation. if you living in major city centre in Australia, Canada . The quality of life much better than Bangkok, no pollution, clean , beautipful park and people are more civilised than Bangkok. Australian cities full of international student, high end tourist, university, multinational companies with expat. In Australia, you find thousand of Thai working in massage parlour around the city and suburb and they never feel ashame walking in the street very confident

Soooo awesome I love it can’t wait to see it when I coming to Thailand ❤🇹🇭❤️ Thailand you are the best

It must be nice walking “under” the rain without getting wet.
Skywalk is a really good thing to walk and have an overview, dry too if it’s rain ☔️, 😊✌🏼👍🏼🇹🇭
Oh man I used to love walking the skywalks in the rain. The memories.
Nice Skywalk
Leaving for Bangkok tomorrow, good to know.
So nice seeing Bangkok in the rain, and the walkways. Thanks!
I walked this except same route after visiting Chatutak market, nice re-visit😊
Love bangkok see you in oktober 26 always good updates
What I really appreciate from the BKK Skywalk system is that you don't break an ankle walking as you would on the ground-level sidewalks with holes
It is necessary for BKK to build more skywalks that link around the city because of weather related issues (heat flooding), pollution, etc.

By the way… Have you ever checked out the Chatuchak Park to compare with Benjakitti and Lumphini?
My condo is near MRT , so you just put yourself in the system you will not get wet and can connect to all malls by bts also

The skywalk is great, but unfortunately what needs to be better is the state of our sidewalks
