      Yes, esp. Slater matching up well against Chase Young. He was so good that Young moved over to the other side against Bulaga and Storm. But Bulaga goes out again with a back injury. Bulaga is good but he can't make it through 4 quarters. Corey Linsley and the guards also played well against Washington's defensive line, I was a little surprised.

  • @ironictoday6192
    @ironictoday6192 3 года назад +27

    Surprising game. Thought Slater matched up well against Chase Young. He was so good that Young moved over to the other side against Bulaga and Storm. Bulaga was good today, but he goes out again in the 2nd half with the same back injury that hurt him last year and all through this year's training camp. He's got a guaranteed contract hence the LAC are stuck with him and are resigned to him not being a 4 quarters guy because of back issues which are unlikely to ever go away.
    His backup Storm Norton though, did well against WFT's excellent defensive line. Linsley at center and both guards played well against that scary front line. Going in I thought WFT would harass Herbert all day and get 4-5 sacks - (they got two sacks but they were for short yardage). That kid Herbert still sliced 'em up with his quick release, threw for nearly 340 yards and racked up more than 400 yards total offense. Pretty impressive perf against that defense. I didn't think the Chargers had much trouble moving the ball against WFT all afternoon.
    Another sign that this is a new era - was Chargers' Brandon Staley going for the jugular on that final drive, having Herbert throwing the ball to eat up clock while getting a bunch of first downs. Keenan Allen is a first down maker, still very underrated, never mentioned as one of the top 3 receivers in the game. Last year - the Chargers would have gone conservative against that great defense on the final drive, running into walls. After the game was over, I thought the Chargers moved up and down the field well and that it wasn't as close as the actual score. Back breaker for WFT was the fumble at the 5 by Gibson, who was otherwise the team's best weapon. And it came right after WFT picked Herbert in the red zone.
    Meanwhile, Taylor Heinecke should be the starter for Washington. Even though they got no more than 260 yards in total offense against a Charger defense that's less elite than WFT's, Washington looked more efficient on offense when he was behind center. And some of the catches his receivers made were quite unreal.
    Finally, Justin Herbert proved to me that he indeed is the real deal, on the road on the east coast in front of hostile fans for the first time. Laser throws, quick release and great speed for a 6-6 dude.

    Was that a "fumble" or was that an incomplete pass?
    Was that a sack or was that roughing the passer?
    This new rules were annoying.

    Chargers did a good job chipping with TEs and RBs early, and play calling got the ball out quick. The 4th quarter, WFT had nothing left and O Line did great. Herbert looks pretty damn solid.

    I've been a Redskins/Football Team fan since 1983. We've had amazing talent come through this organization. For the most part we have been competitive throughout the years but for some reason we are slow to evolve. We have a young QB that is competitive and intriguing with a high upside. A defense with young players that under any other defense coordinator would flourish. We have to get younger coaches with younger players and different ownership. I recall Joe Gibbs second stint with the Redskins/ Football Team and how he evolved as a coach due to the current way football was being played. It took younger coaches to help him see that. And until we get an identity/ logo or whatever, I believe we will stay near the bottom. These young kids are very talented and you have to try new things with them based on their abilities. Taylor is the man. Chase and Sweat anchor the defense. Gibson has what it takes. McLaurin is an easy 1200 yard receiver with at least 12 touchdowns a year and Pro Bowler. The supporting cast is very capable and ready. So please tell me why we aren't getting the most out of this talent? Too much nepotism involved with business. Coaches don't want to work with others coaches that don't see things their way. Hire the right guys for the job. Look at Tampa Bay's diverse coaching staff. If you think for one minute it's because of Tom Brady that they won the Superbowl against a highly talented Chiefs team then you are wrong. It's the invigorating open minded coaching staff that really understands X's and O's. Now put that together with a Brady, Evans, Brown, Gronk, Fournette, Godwin and supporting cast and get success. So again tell me why we aren't getting the most out of our talent?

      @@jeffreytenly9399 Scanning the comments to post that ref propaganda? Horrendous call from Ref's, rules analysts, pundits, hell, WFT fans agree. Not a good call. Either too scared to do the right thing in front of the home crowd, OR pandering to the home crowd. Wasn't the only awful decision. Calling Bosa's second roughing the passer was a joke.
      The ref's did miss an early facemask as you said, but I know what decisions I would've rather had in my favour!

    AWESOME WIN for The SUPER CHARGERS ! ! !
    Staley wasn’t gonna have the Zebras take Control of the Game.. and to Hell with them Zebras … from the get go … something was already set up… they wanted the No Name Team to Win… All those Bogus Calls…. Fumble on a forward pass… then the call on Bosa and Aboushi .. the call on Asante… and even the announcers on the booth are in it…
    Great Thing we have Herbert… and The Defense Showed Up…
    On a Side note… Davis still gets beat often… someone has to step up to make him work harder or take his spot …
    And somewhere Lynn is telling himself he could have done better than Staley…
