Buckets, for those of us who don't have pythons or automated water change arrangements. I also like my plastic jugs for smaller jobs. Great video! Thanks as always, Jill!
Mary yesss! Buckets were another runner up for the list. I have 4 or 5 now for water changes, substrates, supplies...... Arguably too many, lol 😆 Thank you!
Oh that first one; flexible airline tubing… keyword being flexible! I went to setup my tank after two decades not being in the hobby & it was so not flexible that I had to run PVC to get it to go straight down to the bottom of my tank🤣 And I need sponges; yes. Great list! Never thought of using pipets. Definitely looking forward to seeing a part two (or three pr four). Yay Mom!🤗 Another awesome share Social Avocado!👍🏾
Lolll Fred! I'm imagining how difficuly it would be to do anything with rigid airline tubing 😅 but us aquarists are so inventive, we always find ways to make things work! Thank you, my kind sir ☺️
1. A good net for getting dead fish out of the tank before the other fish eat the dead one. 2. A shrimp finding device for finding the one that mysteriously disappeared one day after buying it. 3. A continuous water changing device in a vain attempt to control the raging nitrate levels caused by all the fish dying all the time. 4. Plenty of money to buy new fish to keep replacing the dead ones. 5. A good sense of humour, and a stoic nature to offset all the failure and death in one’s aquarium.
Awww that's actually so nice to hear 🌸🙂 I had to rush through this vid because I'm leaving town for a few days, so I was afraid y'all wouldn't like it too much. Thank you Marck 😸
I’m so glad you mentioned clove oil, when I first started having fish I had to watch one of my rescues suffer from old age complications for a week until the clove oil came in the mail. It felt terrible not being able to put him out of his misery quickly
Winter I'm so sad to hear that :( It's so true that you just never know. I had to put one of my first fish down the other day because they'd been barely eating for a month and looked like they had TB 😢 in Aus it's difficult to find the antibiotics for it.
Turkey baster, Battery air pumps, brine hatchery, extra heaters, and my hang on specimen containers, python, Almond leaves and aquarium salt. All things I wouldn't want to be without but not even close to everything lol.
Lol great one actually! I swear it's always the cheap not-necessarily-for-aquariums items that always work the best 😸 I also use a plain old sponge a lot for cleaning the glass on my tanks. Basically free!
If you do water changes every week and dont over stock your tanks , or keep adding New fish to replace the ones that keep dying you will never have to use chemicals to treat anything. The more chemicals you use the more they get stressed out. Not saying you do, I'm new here so I havent seen how well you maintain your tanks or anything yet. Just saying if people did that they would save alot of time and wasted money. Constantly messing around with, or swapping fish around from tank to tank will stress them out bad. I feed mine and do water changes and leave them alone. Ive been a Monster Fish keeper for at least 15 years so I have fish that have life spans of 10 years and longer.
Most important items I have are Stability Seachem and Alpha which is like your prime by Seachem. Also airline tubing, filter socks, and media filter bags, never know when you will need to use phosphate remover or Nitrate remover from your system.
Cammm 🤩 I used to be a die-hard HOB fan, Aquaclear to be exact, but the sponges are so nice and quiet and look sooo much better. I literally have like 10 sponge filters and 5 tanks 😆😸
@@JillsFishRoom I was too, but once I realized that when the water level drops past a certain point the flow changes i started to fall out of love with them
@@camsfishadventures I found myself turning off my aquaclear 110 a lot to watch tv because it was TOO loud and obv that's less than ideal :( Rose tinted glass, my good friend, lol 😅
API test kits are so expensive here but I've certainly gotten my money worth ☺️ Kelvin..... And now that you mention it..... I don't actually have a spare heater 😦 I need to get on that STAT.
An extra tank or tub that can be used as a hospital or quarantine tank is high on my list. The trick is keeping them as a hospital tank instead of filling it with more fish and needing another one 😅
I think one thing most aquarists have in common is a lack of restraint for buying more fish 😭 loll. I usually wait a month or two and casually bring up more fish to my partner. Hopefully he wont catch on 😆
Sponge filters are my god send. As for testing water, I once never tested water and never had a fish death I started testing abs adjusting my water and lost my established Malawi Mbuna tank. Since then all I ever do is water changes weekly 50% and Prime
I'm on the fence, Sean 🙂 I know that test strips are just as accurate, if not more accurate (dang api test kits go crazy sometimes), but I like feeling like a scientist 😆
I’m new to your channel great video. I think every fish keeper should have battery operated air stones because you never know when your power might go out.
Hi Denis 😄 Thank you so much! Unfortunately, I'm not the best with algae problems. I had blackbeard algae once and it destroyed my tank for months :( but having algae eaters can help! Like a few Siamese Flying Foxes, snails, shrimp. I know that you can also get algae killer but a lot are harmful to invertebrates. Algae suuuucks ☹️
Make sure if your tank gets dirty, not to put the fish in a bag next to a window. I heard this dentist in Sydney did that and put them next to a window and they escaped to the ocean. He gave away some cool fish to, the ones you would find in an Aquarium, like a clown fish, who gives away clown fish?!?!
Sponge filters and Matten filters. I find them a little bit expensive I feel like using a denitrate doesn’t solve the actual problem. It can help short term but can’t a water change do the same
I think HOBs are super expensive 😅 They do a great job though. And totally! You should definitely always find the source of the problem but Denitrate is a nice quick fix in the meantime I think. I panic when it comes to my fish being sick, lol 😭
Hi Squirell 😁 I think purigen is more concentrated and works better, mine is just for a hob or canister (I think... I'm bad at reading instructions, lol). They're from the same brand tho, purigen was sold out everywhere for me 😢
I have almost the same but without those seachem thinggy, 3 kg catapa leaf, oh I have 30meter of air tubing, I dont know why i have , because I only use couple meter of it for my brine shrimp hatcery
80th view 💕

Dude, if this isnt a joke, you got some sirious problems with your tank. Go and get a bigger filter and check if you dont overfeed.
I use a pipette for everything aswell. Also the test kits are a life saver

After test strips are opened and exposed to air their shelf life deteriorates rapidly.
