@@TimelordUK Thanks for the kind words. I have another couple of comparisons in the works with some new devices, I just like to take my time to live with the machines properly before passing judgement. Its definitely an interesting time for retro emulation systems!

Nice comparison! A little bit too late for me :D Now I´ve got both of them^^ As you mentioned in your video, performance wise OGA is the winner. I´m currently playing RE: Code Veronica (Dreamcast-Flycast) on it (sometimes low fps in video sequences). Imho the RG350 is easier to set up, you can almost start out of the box. Sidenote: I do not have any issues with the placement of the right control stick. Biggest advantages are the second L- and R-shoulder buttons for Playstation games. The OGA has to be assembled, which was fun, BUT I was super scared that I would break the screen or whatever part. Still nothing too complicated if you carefully follow the instructions. What you don't show and say is that while it's easy to customize every emulator on the rg350 by entering the emulator specific menu, it's impossible to do that on the odroid go advance (using retro arena for example) and for me this is a blocking point.
This is a valid point, I haven't found the need to do that yet as the global over-ride settings seem to work well enough (combined with the ability to switch emulators for different games / save that preference). He's probably still using stock firmware with his RG350, which is why he is having so many issues. Anybody who purchased an RG350 would be wise to checkout the ROGUE Firmware, it's absolutely amazing! Even Mortal Kombat 1&2 run well under ROGUE Firmware.
@@ZodWriter I was definitely running stock firmware. Will definitely check out ROGUE, thanks for the tip! Even so, I did a sanity check of FBA version of Double Dragon after James Traynor's comment and while it was better than the Mame version I tested in this video, there is still noticeable slow-down in high traffic areas. The end of stage one with the barrels on the ground saw a dip to 45-50 fps and gameplay slowed down by a noticeable amount. Still a lot better than the Mame version I demo'd so good tip to stick with the FBA version.
I see that the actual sound was getting choppy in Double Dragon, so yeah that's the console having problems...but just take note in future tests that the proper arcade hardware for Double Dragon has gameplay slowdown in those areas, so make sure you always use the same emulator, because: MAME emulates it correctly (shows slowdown), and Final Burn * doesn't. You can test this on a PC by enabling Cheats in MAME, hitting ~ to bring up the sliders, overclock the main emulated CPU a bit, and the game's slowdown will go away.

Thank you for this great comparison video! I just subscribed. Can you please test the TV out on the Odroid Go Advance? I haven't seen one video showing that and I'm curious what the quality is like.
The fact that the RG350 has two speakers might be improving the sound. By the way, there's already a batocera 64 gig image in arcade punks for the Odroid Go Advance :)
For anyone considering that image, just take note that a lot of the ROMs are the PAL/European versions, and a ton are specifically the French releases. Also the image was made from some MicroSD that has more sectors than a bunch of 64GB brands, and of the full space, so it's not going to fit on a bunch of 64GB cards unless you go through the pain of manually shrinking the partition in the image through something like gparted on a PC first.
Not that I am aware of. Don't be put off by the assembly though, its really not that hard (seriously) and only takes about 10-15 minutes to do it. Just look up a tutorial video online (I used the ETA Prime one) and take it slowly and carefully.
@@mackw919 I agree, when he said Tony Hawk had sound glitches in the Odroid but it was a tie and also...comparing games almost nobody will play on a handheld like MKII the arcade version.
I have to disagree with you about the audio differences. On all of the games the Odroid had richer audio. Not as loud but quality was more natural sounding. The RG350 was louder but the audio was pinched limited to only the higher pitches leaving the lower pitches out
Hi Brian, what image did you use, and how do I know what emulator to use for what game? How does that work? Thanks. Did you get one in OZ already by which seller? Saying sold out?
I am using the Emuelec image (added my own roms). I did try to get Batocera to work but the filesystem was causing all kinds of headaches, might try again now I have the wifi dongle up and running. For the arcade machines you simply drop the rom into the 'Arcade' folder and the system will determine the best emulator for you in Auto mode. If you are not happy with its decision you can cycle through all the different emulators in the settings (only needed to do this once or twice). There is a folder for every emulated system and often multiple emulator options for each system. From the front end, you can just add the ones you like into 'Favourites' and they all launch / list in the one section.
Also, I ordered through jiffyshop.com.au but I suspect it was just drop shipping the item as I had to wait for it to come into stock originally. They also are saying out of stock now.
I think the GKD350h is pretty similar to the RG350 so not sure its going to produce different results. the GKD350 does have a faster cpu but its essentially the same interface / system as the RG350 so I would still lean towards the O-DROID Go Advance.
I actually really wanted the o- droid, but I didn't get it for 2 reasons. One, software isn't my thing I have to get my bro to help me every time I have software issues lol. Second it isn't on amazon yet.
The Odroid has more power but less buttons, even if n64 is perfect many game will be unplayable without the inputs; but the biggest flaw of the Odroid is the fact that it's very difficult to buy.
Pretty simple, if you wanted to play ps1 games RG350 is currently the best because of thr additional vibration, if you'd looking above ps 1 pick the later.
O-Droid Go Advance is $238 to buy pre-built, RG350 is $80... this is a no-brainer if you don't want to build yourself. Also for $85 I got my rg350 with a 32GB SD card full of classic games AND a 64GB card full of ps1 games
Well the Odroid Go Advance sells for $59.95 as a snap and screw together kit (no soldering pc already built) that you can customize as you put it together (paint or dye shell, different color buttons) and is way more powerful and there is a 64GB and 128GB image ready to play on Arcade Punks....so it is a no-brainer to get the OGA!!
@@PCGGC A new batch launches in like....less than a week so I mean, if you can't wait 4 or 5 days then yeah sure, get an RG 350 lol. The OGA is more powerful overall, and more things in it's future. The new batch also has those added shoulder buttons and some other improvements over the one shown here. I'm happy to wait a few days to get the OGA instead.
I disagree with your verdict but I Ike your review I think having a proprietary charger should give it a larger knock down. As well as the lower grade controls. The rg is much more polished though the interface, as you said and I agree, is not as nice as the o droid. Set up is a big deal how long to go from box to playable matters. I don't mind putting mine together but cheap parts as well as the possibility of damaging the fragile screen on the o droid when trying to install should be a factor.
this is all you need to know... O-Droid: CPU: 1.5 GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 RG350: CPU: JZ4770 Dual-Core 64Bit - 1.00Ghz O-Droid has more power

I have to disagree with you about the audio differences. On all of the games the Odroid had richer audio. Not as loud but quality was more natural sounding. The RG350 was louder but the audio was pinched limited to only the higher pitches leaving the lower pitches out
I know the Odroid sounds great with headphones as I can't stand the little built in speaker.
Do gkd350h vs odroid go advance
I think the GKD350h is pretty similar to the RG350 so not sure its going to produce different results. the GKD350 does have a faster cpu but its essentially the same interface / system as the RG350 so I would still lean towards the O-DROID Go Advance.
I agree that the gkd350 makes for a better comparison due to its higher processing power and better screen than the rg350.
This is clearly a guy who loves handheld gaming so send him gkd350h and i am sure he will provide the video for you.
Dude its on ebay
The only thing the ODroid is missing is L2 and R2 for PSX, and that way you could get Metal Gear Solid on the go for less than $100.
Everett Rantanen it is sold out for months at a time for the kit.
Everett Rantanen and it's out of stock still, every time I've checked it's not available. Rg350 for the win again
@@sociallyresponsiblexenomor7608 they need to make a case that does not look like some getto entry level 3d printer test though
The charge cable is still USB on the other end.
Jesus. Now I have to buy both....
Yeah thats right u heard me.
Its easy to install emulation station on open dingus
Now RK2020 is available with the same spec of OdroidGoAdvance but with better build quality & extra button.
subbed
this is all you need to know...
O-Droid: CPU: 1.5 GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53
RG350: CPU: JZ4770 Dual-Core 64Bit - 1.00Ghz
O-Droid has more power
and that means crap without support and without having the product in stock...so that is all you need to know
JZ is a 32 bits mips.

All u do is show old crap technology
