Ahhh good ol' Spam! 😋 The campers choice 👍 fry it up with a coupe of eggs (make sure their packed well) lol and close your eyes and think of England 😂. Seriously though, actually pretty nice 👍
looking forward to the dehydrating videos as well, I want to do dehydrating for my backpack but am not confident on either doing it or dehydrating, thanks very much for your videos they really help and whilst we cannae camp, we can prepare for when we can :-) ATB
Good to see your fine Stu. I wouldn’t have thought the high fat content in spam would make it good for dehydration. Try putting it on kitchen towel to absorb some of the fat. Atb
someone who is obviously not from Scotland commented on carrying water to rehydrate the food - your never far from fresh water in Scotland, even if you have to occasionally boil it!!!... but seriously, dehydrating food is something I've been thinking about doing for some time, keep it up mate your down to earth efforts on this subject are well appreciated. cheers
Good video mate, the only problem I can see is there is quite a lot of fat in spam so don’t think it would last long before it goes rancid 😩 but like the idea 👍
Still it made a good video bro, summer is finally back here it went on holiday for a couple of weeks but not looking forward to the 30c they forecast for Wednesday.. 41 is forecast for Melbourne today, thank goodness I do not live in Australia. Safe travels
Be interesting to see your verdict on the rehydration, I found the meat a bit spongy, not tried beans, but have thought of trying other canned stuff like chicken curry
He is alive! Colin, tell Bugsey he's wrong, Big Stu's alive ...lol. How much do you think it uses in power Stuart? I have been thinking of getting myself one of these; I've seen some people say they were expensive, although I thought it was more that they couldn't be arsed. I think it's the fat in the spam that makes it take longer. Can you not freeze at that stage?
I’m not going to watch this sorry ,I much prefer to see you eat it and dance around in some picturesque location.I don’t see the point your going to carry the water to rehydrate the food anyway.
@@dougfields5798 depends where you are, I'm usually in the lake district, and get my water out of streams running down mountains. Put it through a purifier and it tastes cleaner than any tap water. For cooking you can just boil it straight out of the stream as a one minute boil will kill 99.99% of bacteria and parasites
@@DjJDtech That’s a Beautiful area we have been there many times .I still don’t see the point in watching a video of spam and beans drying,he normally makes great videos and I know it’s difficult times but a video of food drying is not my cup of tea even instant tea .
@@dougfields5798 fair enough LOL. I do fair a bit of wild camping myself, and this seems like a good way to save some money, if the end results are good
any chance of seeing re-hydrated and cooked?
Will be interesting to see what its like rehydrated 👍🏕🤟
Forza Scotland. You are one of my favorite countries. Beautiful landscape and people.
Scotland is awesome
Thanks for this, baked beans seem to be an ideal hiking and back backing comfort food. This has given me the confidence to try this

There is too much fat in spam mate
As always, I love your videos, would be great to see the finished product after you have rehydrated and cooked them. Keep up the good work pal, 👍
Just perfect and a lot cheaper than the freeze dried camp foods that are out there

Do you re hydrate with water???
Be interesting to see your verdict on the rehydration, I found the meat a bit spongy, not tried beans, but have thought of trying other canned stuff like chicken curry
In fact I'm trying it now lol
Interesting.
It's also the weight of the can itself. And the saving of space.
Great video+++. Must buy a dehydrator now. Were you in The Borders yesterday?
I wonder what dehydrated haggis would be like?
Happy Burns Nite from Sunderland!

Do you have a recipe for that Caribbean spice?
The beans, did you say "123 hours" later? Couldn't quite make that out
Think it was 12 hours mate
Why would you not rehydrate them to show us how they turned out???
So your forced to watch his next video 🤘😎
No spam dance.

Might be better cooking off the fat before dehydrating?
Not gd the weight came from. The cans
I think that's because if they weren't dehydrated you would have the weight of the cans in your pack.
I’m not going to watch this sorry ,I much prefer to see you eat it and dance around in some picturesque location.I don’t see the point your going to carry the water to rehydrate the food anyway.
you dont carry the water, you go to a spot wit a water source and boil it
@@DjJDtech I wouldn’t fancy that idea you never know who’s crapped in that water ,Id rather carry the tins or transfer the food to sealable bags .
