[Lyrics]
Can't understand what is happening to me
This isn't real this is only a dream
But I never have felt, no I never have felt this way before
I'm looking down on my body below
I lie asleep in the midst of a dream
Is it now could it be the Angel of Death has come for me
I can't believe that really my time has come
I don't feel ready there's so much left undone
And it's my soul and I'm not gonna let it get away
Heaven can wait, heaven can wait, heaven can wait
Heaven can wait 'til another day
Heaven can wait, heaven can wait, heaven can wait
Heaven can wait 'til another day
I have a lust for the earth below
And hell itself is my only foe
'Cause I've no fear of dying, I'll go when I'm good and ready
I snatch a glimpse of the light's eternal rays
I see a tunnel I stand amazed
At all of the people standing there in front of me
Into the paths of rightness I'll be led
Is this the place where the living join the dead?
I wish I knew this was only just a nightmare
Heaven can wait, heaven can wait, heaven can wait
Heaven can wait 'til another day
Heaven can wait, heaven can wait, heaven can wait
Heaven can wait 'til another day
Take my hand I'll lead you to the promised land
Take my hand I'll give you immortality
Eternal youth I'll take you to the other side
To see the truth the path for you is decided
My body tingles and I feel so strange
I feel so tired I feel so drained
And I'm wondering if I'll ever be the same again
Is this in limbo or Heaven or Hell?
Maybe I'm going down there as well
I can't accept my soul will drift forever
I feel myself floating back down to Earth
So could this be the hour of my rebirth?
Or have I died or will I wake from dreaming?
Heaven can wait, heaven can wait, heaven can wait
Heaven can wait 'til another day
Heaven can wait, heaven can wait, heaven can wait
Heaven can wait 'til another day

'Heaven Can Wait' is a song from Iron Maiden's album ''Somewhere In Time'',released in 1986.
'Heaven Can Wait' is a song about a near-death experience. It is a fairly long song, and its highlight is the sing-along section just before the guitar solos, which is practically custom-made for live concerts. This sing-along also has the unusual feature of vocal support by some guys they found in a place called Tehe's Bar. This explains the reference to Tehe's Bar on the album cover.
Near-Death Experiences, or NDE for short, are these strange reports by people who have been declared clinically dead, but who managed somehow to come back to life. Although it is difficult to assert that these impressions are purely physiological and only due to the neurons of a dying brain firing wildly as a defensive response to the stress caused by the situation, NDEs do not in any way constitute an evidence for an afterlife. Not all subjects reported dead and subsequently revived have experienced an NDE, and each NDE seems to be unique. The "vision" of a tunnel of light, as mentioned in the song, appears to be common, however, and Bosch's illustration of The Last Judgement indicates that this phenomenon has been reported already some five centuries ago.
The topic of the afterlife and that some people may get there a bit too early has also been exploited by Hollywood and, to date, two films have been released with the title Heaven Can Wait. The 1943 Ernst Lubitsch comedy tells us the story of a man who has to justify himself in order to gain access to Hell, whereas the 1978 version, directed by Warren Beatty who is also playing the main character, relates the tale of a young American footballer who meets an untimely death and finds himself reincarnated into the body of a millionaire who wants to buy Los Angeles Rams in order to once again quarterback them into the Superbowl. Life after death seems to be a popular topic indeed!
'Somewhere in Time' is the sixth studio album by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 29 September 1986 on EMI in Europe and its sister label Capitol Records in the US (it was re-released by Sanctuary/Columbia Records in the US in 2002).
The album also marked a change for Iron Maiden, as it was their first album to introduce synth, although this style was expanded upon in their next album, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.
This song holds a special place in my heart!! My husband was fortunate to have bummed into Steve Harris' wife at the grocery store. And she was very kind enough to have given us 'All Excess Passes' to the concert the next night!! And with those those passes, we were able to 'GO ON STAGE' during this song!! I was able to get to Steve quickly and I stood next to him during the 'whoa whoa' part!! Something that we will NEVER FORGET!!!
This took place in one of the mid-cities of Dallas, Tx
Damn nice
Oh dear, you can just tell Bruce so wants to be out of there. Sad days for Maiden, but at least they sorted it out in the end... as all legendary bands do. 😊
They really shouldn't have carried on with the tour after Bruce announced he was quitting. His performance here is half hearted to say the least.
Yeah. What a selfish arsehole. Completely unprofessional.
E Blaze fez um ótimo trabalho no Iron... principalmente no The X-Factor.
Even Bruce was on is way out. This one of the better live versions I've heard.
MAIDEN IS MY RELIGON!
Great to have any song off my favourite Iron Maiden album performed live. I forgot about the crew coming out for that song. It looked like it could be chaotic but they arrived and left in a relatively orderly manner. Some of those camera angles of Nicko nearly got intimate, lol!
Legendary stuff out of Dave Murray.
Such a great band
This is a really honest performance, Bruce on his way out, and one of his least favorite songs, but he still sings it well.
bruce is sad in this video
Blood brother
Eddie Carlos - He was about to leave Maiden, so he clearly wanted other things. This IS about a decade of his life in the band already.
I would be sad too if I had to witness Janick ruining Adrians solos
no he is truly happy, about to try smthg new
Bruce lindo!!!
Wow! OMG!
I WAS IMPRESSED WITH BRUCE'S LACK OF WILL IN THIS MUSIC !!! HE DIDN'T SEEM WANTING TO SING OR SOME LITTLE!
Bellissima canzone 😁😁😁✌🤘🤘🤟yesssssss
Bruce does look a bit done with this shit. XD - I'm starting to see what Steve Harris meant with Bruce's efforts. - Bruce is almost going through the motions and he knows that he's on top of things, like it's not a challenge anymore.
Bei momenti 🥰
Que Cara la de Bruce. Juju.
Falou muita merda.
bruce definately didnt act like the front man he was used to being but his actions aside he did perform his job as a singer .....just nt as an entertaining frontman...
wow ny hc!!
Heaven can wait Sandra 😜😜
Doesn't sound too bad vocally but he was just not into it. Just standing there the whole time. Not like him.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Yeah, he was checked out by this time.
@nypad5 I think he was feeling ill for all of 93...
Poor Bruce the way Steve cranks those lyrics out a weaker vocalist would crumble. 🎤
does anybody know the story of the tradition of oooah choire ?
A performance saved by Steve, Janick, Dave and Nicko I think........Where were your theatrics and energy Bruce ???
susanne williamsson - In the past. He was getting ready to leave Maiden.
@@michaelangeloh.5383 yes, that was my point, leave to pursue a solo career...which turned out OK so why come back ??
@@susannewilliamsson8339 - You were asking where his theatrics were... He just didn't feel it anymore, clearly. - And he fulfilled his desire to do other work. - Then, Iron Maiden apparently received a lot of money because of a deal, and Bruce said that he wanted to not just sit on their asses but get out there and work for it again. Besides of course breathing new life into the band. - They could've just taken the money and not do anything more with Maiden, but they took the ballsy opportunity to put it back into the band.
@@michaelangeloh.5383 so the reason for their come back to Maiden was just money.....hmmm, to me it seems a bit akward..
@@susannewilliamsson8339 - In a way. But you're missing the point. They already received money because of some kind of deal with selling their music or something... Then they decided to work for it AFTER the fact. Which resulted in the "reunion" and comeback, the Ed Hunter Tour and Brave New World. - Bruce said he didn't want to just do nothing, but earn their money. - They didn't go play FOR money, but to give back to the fans, and of course also a new chapter for themselves.
This was Bruce's last show.
No it was one of the last ones but not the least one
His official last one was the TV special called 'Raising Hell', I think. Unless they quietly did more gigs with him. But in that show they actually killed him off... Seriously, you should watch it if you don't know it. It was the first DVD I had of them (and on of the earliest DVDs period). XD
bruce on this tour was horrible. Steve Harris say this on biografy of Maiden.
bruce had to have been feeling ill that day would be my guess. He isnt like thsi haha
very sad and ill informed comment. Fact was Dickinson didn't give a fuck.
Crowd is quiet
@@williameller961 this wasn't his last show his last show was in England
@@williameller961 this wasn't his last show though
It's not mixed into the audio (well)... Can't you people understand?...
except for bosnians
what was wrong with bruce?
@@williameller961 the final show with him was in England not milan
JAJA Bruce hated this show...
jaja la mala onda de Bruce
Porque estaba enojada? Saludos
He must have been sick... Singing Great ... But No Energy....
must had become ill, befor the show🙃
The Bruce ego is far bigger than him self!
Great song, but still the weakest song on the masterpiece that is, "Somewhere in Time". Bruce wrecks it here, by involving the audience too much. Why they only play this, is beyond me. Probably Steve, being butthurt, or prideful, about Adrian leaving the band, and refusing to play his songs (although, granted. they don't play Steve's own from the album, except this 1 either). In the end it's the funds that have to suffer though, because SIT song's are the best and most refined, in their catalogue, along with a few from their other albums. Best Songs in heavy-metal history
Sorry but Janick sounds like an amateur guitar player comparing to Adrian Smith. He makes every Adrian's riff sound awful
