I have a drill and impact combo that are ~11 years old and still on the same 2 original 3aH batteries and they still hold charge and last a long time just like new. It's honestly crazy.

The Metsbo is much more reliable then the Milwaukee, especially after 100’s of thousands of shots. And much lighter and softer better feeling shot. With the ring shank nails we use, very few jams.
Great review and the 1st in the world with such an in depth video. Thanks for the effort you put into the channel and in particular Makita video content that is always relevant to the Makita UK market. Thumbs up.

All about the im350 for me. Yes they require more maintenance and they're not as powerful as the battery nailers but the extra 1.5/2kg weight saving is irreplaceable when you're throwing them around all day. Until the battery guns are in the 3kg range I'm not interested.
Yeah I found in snow country where you get daily -5 or -15's overnight in AUS the gas framers just don't work well, (same in the states, especially norther us, that's why paslode isn't popular) but pneumatic work well in those climates, that's just my opinion, but keen to see how these battery nailers go in the winters.
I'm another Makita guy, but I bought the Hikoki nail gun system a few years ago, when I replaced my roof and gables. At that time, Hikoki battery nail guns were way ahead of the competition and Makita were not even in the race regaurding framing guns. Upon this review, I still remain satisfied that my Hikoki nail guns are up there with the best. My only disappointment is now i am running two different battery platforms, rather than just one. What took Makita so long to catch up ?
If it would perform less than the hikoki one, would you consider it? I guess they want you to get the Makita one, not only because it's on the same platform, but it should be up there with the top.
@@Manbearpiet Hypothetically, I guess it would depend how much less. In reality, the Makita looks good enough for me, but too late. I'm happy with the Hikoki guns now and what is done, is done. 👍🏻
Don’t get sucked into the one battery system hype, if you owned a paslode that’s gas and battery that does nothing else. Especially if it comes in its own case . Can’t believe the Makita s heavier…. I’ll weigh my dewalt one tomorrow but pretty sure it’s lighter than hikoki.
What took so long? It's that Japan doesn't allow the sale of nail guns over a certain gauge, and Makita as a company is too slow and unwieldy to react to needs in other markets. Vs. Hikoki/Hitachi/Metabo HPT while being a Japanese based company as well, has been making specific tools for specific markets for quite some time now. Everyone else is outside Japan where nail guns can be sold whenever to whomever.
The good thing about Makita is when you want to fix the tool, it's a lot less expensive, you can buy a switch separately, with all these other brands the switches are attached to the controllers and stators which means the tool is not worth the money to repair if one simple thing goes on it.
I was excited for a good Makita framing review. I'm waiting to see which powerbase I really invest into for the first time and have a couple Makita items already but, after watching this, I'm more sold on Rigid than any others. In terms of the overlap of most desirable features: Rigid is lighter than Makita and Milwaukee, it sits flat standing up, self-serviced, has auto on off sense (which I've never seen before this video, - thank you for that), good ergonomics, AND appeared to burn the rest on the speed test. Definitely subscribing to this channel. Top notch info. Sincerely, a broke apprentice.
Just carry the power pack and the cable attaches to the tool, and the batteries go on your back, and there's either 4 or 6 of them so the tool/battery lasts forever.
@@toolscientist my dewalt one weighs 3718gm no battery or 4259gm with 5ah , a good 1kg lighter, fine for most work I need it. Have got Xgt compressor and finding some decent air nailers, not sure if it will run a frami nailer very well tho.
Im a BIG makita fan i love your Makita videos. But does she work in -20°c because here in Finland in winter its cold and the Hikoki does not like the cold. So in my opinion the Paslode im90xi is the best nailgun on the market it works when its hot and cold outside.

Hikoki needs a part o believe is called j-394. I have both the nailer and the adapter. But in Norway hikoki refills your nailer for free. Milwaukee charges about 250 usd
As to the US using the 21deg nailer, its use is regional very similar to rear handle saws use to be regional in the US. The 21deg is very common out west while where I live in, the Midwest, the 30deg nailer is mostly used but all stores sell both nails and nailers.
21 is more common in coastal regions cause 30s used to have clipped heads and didn't meet code requirements in hurricane conditions. The nails don't really differ any more but the regional preference still remain.

I have the Hitachi and Milwaukee. I only use the Milwaukee when it’s cold out as it weighs too much and the Hitachi won’t work below-5C (IIRC). The Makita is out based on weight alone. Shame, because all my standard 18v tools are Makita.
I live in the states and only use 30 degrees as well. 21 degree nailer are for sale where I live but I know no one that uses them, they're a requirement in certain areas where code calls for a full head nail
As much as I love my Makita tools , I'm still not convinced I would ever buy one of these over a Paslode. Have used a Hikoki before framer and thought it was just too cumbersome. With this thing weighing even more by some margin..... its a real let down. Great review by the way.
Thanks for the review and the comparison Tools. I have to say I’m a little disappointed by Makita. I have the Hikoki for a while now and I have been waiting for this tool for a long time. Unfortunately Makita didn’t take the insane amount of extra time they had to blow the competition out of the water by making a better tool than the others did. The weight is inexcusable and keeps me from buying it. My tools are 95% XGT nowadays. I hope they come out all guns blazing for the that version, but we all know that’s not gonna happen. It will be largely the same tool but for a different battery platform. I love the XGT sanders and saws by the way. They are head and shoulders above their predecessors.
I have some Milwaukee nailers and Ive recently been buying the Flex Nailers , they're good guns and you can't beat that LifeTime Warranty , I love Makita LXT 18v but they seem to be a Dieing Brand here where I live in the U.S. 🤷♂️ , I don't understand what is going on with them , Just Sayin ......🤔😢🤧
Has anyone heard anything about future LXT battery development/improvement? Some of the other yellow and red brands keep pumping out new battery tech while the LXT line up gets left in the dust.
Seems makita is years almost a decade behind on framer and their maktrac boxes but other things no one really seems to use they come out with???? Puzzles me sometimes😅
They are a little late to the party. Bought into the Hikoki system with 36v framing nailer and 18v stapler (their stapler is actually the best I have used compared to other brands I have tried). I do own the Milwaukee 18Ga and 15ga and also testing the Flex 24V Framing nailer, brad, pin and 3/8 stapler. What I look for in my nailers is the flexibility to charge the chamber when it starts to lose power and the only brands I know that gives you that freedom is Hikoki and Flex.
Now this exists I have hope there will be a 40V one, and also a 40V collated screw driver. I am not averse to 2 battery systems, but... Wait, what am I saying? It's an excuse for a new tool. Shutting up.

I dont really care about the weight even after swinging this beast for 8 hours in the work day. Im interested in after 180,000 nails set in 6 months.
Did you think you were going to get a 6 month review the week it was released?
I do hate tip slippage.
Really fucking appreciate all your videos
Great fucking job
Glad to finally fucking see this tool exists ❤😂
As much as I love my Makita tools , I'm still not convinced I would ever buy one of these over a Paslode. Have used a Hikoki before framer and thought it was just too cumbersome. With this thing weighing even more by some margin..... its a real let down.
Great review by the way.
Yt ad worked the first time. Zero lag time
Thanks for the review and the comparison Tools.
Flex took the nailer range SERIOUSLY. Too bad I can’t stand their porcupine TPE overmold. They’re seriously legit.
What an intro!
No adverts and I have no ad blocker.
oh hi, didn't expect to see you here :)
I must say I'm a little surprised that the 18v version was first. I would have thought the first one would be 40v, with the 18v option coming later.
No, no. XGT is extra heavy duty so it gets a pin nailer.
So your logic is offset.
Yasss this is the content I’ve been following for years to see.
Got an ad as soon as you said it. 😂
Has anyone heard anything about future LXT battery development/improvement? Some of the other yellow and red brands keep pumping out new battery tech while the LXT line up gets left in the dust.
No, they have xgt for better batteries
Makita TOP 5 of 2024 ruclips.net/video/OwYI-ULRBK4/видео.html
Your cliffhanger from the Top 5 video certainly worked, because here I am waiting on this video "premieres in 12 minutes" lol.
Seems makita is years almost a decade behind on framer and their maktrac boxes but other things no one really seems to use they come out with???? Puzzles me sometimes😅
Need to see disassembly

The suspense. 😁
Have you ever tried the new zealand airbow framing nailer
Why would he, it's junk.
Got one YT advt first time you mentioned YT advt.
I got one add on "RUclips advert "
They are a little late to the party. Bought into the Hikoki system with 36v framing nailer and 18v stapler (their stapler is actually the best I have used compared to other brands I have tried). I do own the Milwaukee 18Ga and 15ga and also testing the Flex 24V Framing nailer, brad, pin and 3/8 stapler. What I look for in my nailers is the flexibility to charge the chamber when it starts to lose power and the only brands I know that gives you that freedom is Hikoki and Flex.
Ryobi and Ridgid (AEG) in the use also have external recharge ports.
Dunno bout the ads got RUclips premium
I’m a virgin to this channel. Converted.
Legit mic drop
Did he just quit youtube?
It looked like it
He did, and he confirmed this on Patreon.
not flex framing nailer?
There is a space in the case for the extended magazine.
I own the Milwaukee 30 degree framer, i love it, only complaint is the weight. I’ve used the Dewalt framer and that thing is trash
PEX A? Any timeline?
Hey tools great fan could you do a vid about the WUT02 got one 😊
How about a Makita cordless spray gun ......... another long wait! And yes a makita fan who bought the Dewalt framing gun, coyldnt wait Makita
I gotta get one, I don’t care about the weight. Man up or give up your man card boys!
Trust you opinion
You can service the Milwaukee too, but you have to take the clamshell apart first.
Yep. Two ads, the first time you said "RUclips Advert", not the 2nd or 3rd time in a row that RUclips advert was said
When my hikoki misfires I come back to this intro
I got it the first time but not the second or third time
Funny as Fork! Slurp More 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻

Looks like that Makita on the smallest depth is going straight through the old rab
Now this exists I have hope there will be a 40V one, and also a 40V collated screw driver.
I am not averse to 2 battery systems, but...
Wait, what am I saying? It's an excuse for a new tool. Shutting up.
What beer was that!
ruclips.net/video/O_J7dvWWJsQ/видео.html
imagine how much you can resell one of these in Japan
Milwaukee nailer is heavy. Makita's response, hold my beer, we can be heavier.
