I like how well built the tool is. Id like the little actuator bit for the pressure switch to be something bit more substantial, but its fine. Other than that, i love it, the only bit that annoys me is the massive weight. But I guess you can attribute that to the large and substantial size of the metal parts, presumably for longevity and strength of the components. Thank you for the tear down of the nailer, it's a valuable resource to have, though can you please review the 40V D-handle HP007G rotary hammer drill at some point? Cheers!
Not a great design. They've used the "hip flask" style reservoir like Hikoki, but Makita's is much larger. That'll give it a more linear spring curve (which is good), but adds weight. They should have used concentric cylinders like Milwaukee. That hip-flask shape is worse than a cylinder for holding pressure, so it needs thicker walls. So I think air cylinder and that battery bumper is where its extra weight vs Milwaukee comes from. The alu magazine is where it loses to Hikoki, which I think is plastic.
@BuildsStuff too much friction? I wonder if some UHMWPE strips on the sides would help. Maybe a thin steel strip on the front to stop the nail points getting caught.
Huh, interesting that the magazine is so heavy. How does the tool without the magazine compare to the Hikoki? No way Makita didn’t realise in the near decade developing this tool that it was so heavy compared to the competition, they must have made a decision somewhere that had them think this was the right way to go.
Nice, Makita quality as usual 👍
Love these tear down videos!!! Awesome!!!!! 🤟🤟
Cheers Jon, Rock on!

Hikoki's Magazine is the worst of all nailers I've tested. It's a good nailer, but the mag is crap compared to others.

@BuildsStuff any chance you'd do a mega teardown of all your nailers and compare component weights?
It bends way too much and everything jams all the time.
Hey, I was meant to of retired after the Makita Framer video.
So the magazine is a big contributor to the weight, is there anything else they could have improved? I'm so disappointed with how heavy this thing is

That's life.
Hikoki Gen 1 even lighter! let alone Gen 2 on the way!

In an earlier video you wandered out loud it a 40volt battery would fit on it. Did it fit?
No I didn't.
@@stacydonatello49 it does but you need a jackhammer and oxy acetylene cutter to melt the battery to make it fit and then even then its not 18v.
Did you work out if any of the 40Volt batteries are compatible with the gun?
Is that a serious question?
Take a mirror to bed and wake up to yourself
Tools and Stuff creator (a guy in N.Z) suggested it may have been possible in his first video on the gun
No he didn't.
@@stacydonatello49 😂
Is this hikoki brother?
What??????????
Big brother too heavy!
Makita you nonce
