I also like to draft or side draft on roads like this! you speed up so quick and catch some momentum, great :) Nice that you also speak about the technics and not just let viewers try and maybe fail hard.
Lucas watching from the UK! From one cycling brother to another (having just watched some of your back catalogue) keep up the great, work keep pedalling, keep living! Phenomenal Vids!
Thank you for this commentary, it was really entertaining! I would love to see more. Trying to skitch or to draft in Romania is quite dangerous, the roads are flat in most towns, but the potholes... You were right, I tried to skitch and just then I realised the strength needed to do the job. Be safe!
Amazing insight, and (once again) it's fascinating to see how that flag perfectly illustrates the effects of drafting. I'll never try to do this-ever-but it's intriguing as hell to see Lucas in action. Thanks for sharing!
It can feel so nice to draft a car, because the air flow is so smooth and calming. It's like a small breeze coming from the ocean, except you are going at 60 km/h. The only downsides are that you can sometime feel the heat of the car and smell the fuel. Also, I was once drafting a big truck with a bin full of sand and gravel... worst thing ever. At some point, there was sand leaking, directly in front of me, wich is pretty dangerous.
Great video, amazing day. What is your tip for beginner trying to skitch? Considering that in my country no one rides truck cars, what is easier - to grab around the car wheel or on the door handle or even open window? I am familiar with the feeling (I have to lock my arm and resist from going into the car), but that experience comes from holding on a smaller garbage trucks a few times and I felt confident. I would like to try with cars.
@John Great tips, thank you. I will definitely be cautious, even thinking of asking a friend to go with me by a car just to try and get a feeling. I am not too interested in cars, but I believe that older models also have bigger door handles, new ones have minimal style and hard to hold. But I also think that new cars are locked while in drive mode, which is not a case with older (it prevents door to open, but you have to be naive to do it)
Just as a general rule, I dont like door handles. Too many people leave them unlocked. Open windows, wheel wells, and truck beds make the best handholds.
I had an opportunity the other day to do this and thought of your videos. Decided against it. Didn't think it would go over well here in the northeast.
Frederic A. Truslow had a road bike past me a few weeks ago and I was doing 35mph. I have a 1200 watt front hub & 52v 20amp battery and I weigh 160 soo 🤷🏾♂️
It’s really cool to see what you can do on a bike, but in my state it’s illegal to cycle on a highway. probably for the best, all i’ve got is a gary fisher monona lol
This technical talk was perfect. I have (inspired by you) performed a few skitch and would love to do more but there are a few questions: why don't you grab more often onto the door handle? Downhill:do you break or push yourself against the car to be slower? Do you know how hard cars can break in comparison to your bike breaks? Looking forward to the next video answering my questions :) stay safe!
I don't grab onto the door handle because I want to be as far back on the car as I can in case the car makes a turn, also grabbing onto the door handle can open the door, lastly the driver will notice you much quicker I always push when slowing, I don't brake because that would require me to reposition my hand I'll answer these in my next vid too, Thanx
I would really like to do these maneuvers but I live in a small city and their is not the biggest amount of cyclists so drivers aren’t really used to cyclist and I’m scared to try it, do you have any advice?
my only criticism is not taking your shoes off on that nice floor when you got inside. I never skitched in my younger days because I enjoyed pacing and hammering just too damn much. if a car kicked my ass then I went down with a fight. cheers
I need a personal injury lawyer...possibly Scott Bennett. That was nine minutes of good viral advertising. I wonder if any tourists or travelers post pictures/video that incorrectly IDs Lucas as A Florida Man...maybe A Florida Cyclist? Motorists in my dumb suburban city are dangerously courteous. It's not always well-intentioned either...forcing complete stops on hills and stuff.
Love the commentary would love to see more vids like this
Will do
Lucas Brunelle you’re the greatest!!:)
mans insane that motorcycle skitch was awesome
the voice over is so soothing. would love to see more videos like these🤙
love that this video is 25 minutes long
keep making these long videos please!
enjoy them so much
Will do, working on one now, even faster and more risks
Great commentary Lucas! Though you were going to lose your phone at several points though!!

thank you for giving me the inspiration I needed to get out on my bike today
What "Draft King" really means.
Lol, his new name is DK !
The flag really adds a visual cue to what the draft is really like!
Love your content Lucas, you inspired me to start my own youtube channel.
Thank you for motivation. Draft King.
Speed is our game 24/7
Balls of steel ! You have skillz. It looks so crazy to see a bicycle on a 3-lane highway
So much fun! Great video, Lucas - thanks!
Thank you Lucas for the great lessons 🙏
Very cool, loved hearing your thoughts as the ride went on.
Will do more of that
it's just amazing that you still ride like you are 20's!
Thank YOU.

Hellz yeah, will do.
"I like to pull back sometimes just to see it"
Yeah love how they keep me cool you can also drop some ice on them.
Amazing Lucas !! What a lesson 😀
Ive drafted twice now because of your videos. it is amazing. First time was a trash truck and he was so hyped when i finally passed him.
Yuuussss

Yeah. Your rides is extremely dangerous. But very cool. That's why you ride alone all time.
Not really dangerous, not to me at least.
. But I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I’ve been wanting this video for years! Love it! It reminds me of when I was taking flying lessons lol

uuuu the fuckn sand/gravel

Riding at 40 mph through a puddle of sand = not chill

Yeah, I'm with this. I think you should make this a series and continue the commentary! Flipping sick!!

great video as usual.
Thanks for commentary.

I got the same question: door handle vs. Wheel. I am scared the grab around the wheel specially if bumbs are coming up.

Your videos always gets me pumped up to ride hahaha, going out right now 😅
Cycling on the highway is scary for me, i can't do that. 🙆😓 You are THE MAN.
Amazing as always. Take care man
Amazing draft ,best ever, love it,love you

Philly, DMV, NYC (easy)
Northeast drivers are bitches
@@lucasbrunelle haha definitely!
long awaited, fucking love your videos
Lucas how can you avoid sudden stop from the bus? It’s look dangerous because you cant see whats going on in front
I'm so close to the bus that if he hits the brakes and I touch, the impact won't be but 1-2mph
Love your vids tho keep biking your my motivation
This is why my e bike can’t beat a road bike. Maxed out at 39 mph
*28mph, they're slower then you think

Tokyo Drift ?? Naaaah.. Miami Draft !!!
why do you favor one hand on the drops and one on the hood?
He has his hand ready for the brake
Exactly, hand ready for brake and I can jump quicker
How are you liking the corky mirror?
A lot, I have to reinstall it, only small drawback is I have to carry a jewelers screwdriver in case it gets detached
What if a drive brakes hard when either skitching or drafting? Is it as dangerous as it looks?
I'm always on my brakes
What tyres do you use? .. I find on these roads always glass and stuff to give punctures
23mm at 110psi, very high speeds require thin tires like the pizza slicers you see in world speed records
What a day!

I keep expecting your phone to slip out of that mount when it flops around at high speed. Has that happened yet?
Not yet, link for phone holder in description
I was drafting tractors on my e-bike at 35 mph. I kind of need the motor to catch up to them, but then I put it in assist level 3.
Great explanation of the ride! Can’t wait to try these techniques out :)
p.s. where can I get a flag of this quality?
Excellent, ride fast, I got the flag on Amazon, it's tough to find the ones with the golden point
When the frame rate matches wheel spin.
Luc, do you have a link to those tights ??
The sun legs to avoid sunburn, indeed www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074JQM436/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@@lucasbrunelle Perfect! Thank you!!
Bennett Law Center should compensate you for the advertisement
Why do you often have your right hand on the drop and your left hand on the hood? any special reason or are you just comfortable that way?
He once said in case of skitch to have the strong hand on the break
@@neindanke1629 Yea that makes sense but I mean when he is just riding along and not skitching.
Even when not skitching, I can jump quicker and still brake harder
Put a little music on this and it could be draft-punk. Killer riding man!

So cool 🔥🔥🔥
Stunning. ^^

Is there a reason for wearing fingerless gloves?.
Less wear on the hands from grabbing the handlebars, also I can brush debris off my tires
I honestly don’t know how you handle the fumes of cars while Skitching because I just noticed how close it places you to the exhaust
I'm actually in front of the exhaust most of the time, a couple of times I've had my leg burned though
Lucas Brunelle ouch !
Nice Video Risky But Nice,,, and nice Mirror you Have 😁
Come back to the Bay Area and do a similar commentary filled vid! Would be awesome to see your thoughts about your riding style here.
Will do sometime
I want to to do this but everytime I'm about to i feel like the driver will get mad or something so i don't do it ughhh
Very rare, but hey, they got mad at you, oh well
They get mad at you for existing lol
“Accidentes y caídas” no this time...
Is this a recent footage? I'm asking because you are wearing long sleeves.
Those are actually sun blocking

hahaha, yep courteous motorists in suburbs are very dangerous
damn that flag is pitch black from pollution.
Do you wear a mask when skitching/drafting?
Sometimes I do yes, and that pollution is not from Miami, it's from other cities that are not coastal and have bad pollution
Do you earn many Strava KOM's this way? LOL
Too many to count, the ride got flagged
Watch the flag
You must get flagged for KOM segments all the time
