We have used the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
The 4000w audio system test is exactly what I’ve been waiting for in my life. My systems larger and pulls a ton so seeing you do it on a mobile system made my day. Now I know for sure the diy system I’m building will love my audio setup with 5000w of just bass.
Agree with Brian B, 27.7 watts (4292w * .155 / 24) consumption on idle is way too high for a 2k inverter especially when combined with an inverter that is only 83.8% efficient. A Victron Multiplus with a 2000w inverter only has a standby draw of 7-9 watts. I haven't looked up other inverters like AIMs or GoPower.
The fact you used victron as your comparison is disingenuous. They have the lowest idle consumption of any inverter. 15-20w is just how it goes for most inverters. Not much can be done.
Thanks Jehu. Been homeless for about 4yrs stuck in a nursing home. Love & Learned about how to properly power my soon to be homestead. Thank you for your knowledge.

That top board at the back looks like the switching board for the inverter, as it has the pre-charge resistor on it. This not switching off is the culprit for the huge parasitic drain on idle.

Question: I had a transfer switch installed in my house when I bought a portable 10k watt generator. Full disclosure I’m solar, LP & Gas generator ignorant so please don’t get complicated with the answer. Also what parts would I need on hand for repairing the Bluetti should a solar flare or EMP event happen? Thank you for your time.
I'm some situations the double conversion mode of UPS is preferable. To get around the 600W limit of the (internal?) AC to DC, could you buy an external 1200W AC to DC to plug into the solar charge port?
Nice video. Can you cut something on the chop saw. I find it hard to believe that a software update will fix the UPS problems. It seems like it would have to be a hardware update to fix this issue. Maybe just because it is a preproduction unit.
Hi Could you tell me more about your transfer switch, brand and your cable used. Thanks

Hi Sir, I see you did a DC idle power test, but have you done the same for the AC? I am wondering how much it consumes just by having the AC enabled. Thanks for your feedback on that! Have a nice day! Adrian

Does this have car charging mode (12V@8.2A) like the AC200? Tesla Model 3 lighter socket will output 12V@10A max. It will be useful to tap into the vehicle's larger battery (no matter how slow the charge rate) when needed.
wish they would use hardware switches for the DC/AC on/off sections instead of the touch panel. I turn my ac200p on and off all the time and that touch panel is not very responsive.
I would like to see a video about battery safety. I see most of your project indoors but not much is shown in case of a fire, smoke or anything else that can fail. Are batteries better indoors or outside, i would like my battery install to be apart from my house or shop, in case of a fire , or set it up in a way that the fire won't burn off your whole house. Is there anything that we can setup to help control a fire, smoke, or even battery runoff , like adding sprinklers or foam system or install the batteries outside?
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) is a safer battery chemistry than Lithium Ion but weighs more for the same amount of power storage. You can see videos of people using a power drill to run through a LiFePO4 battery pack and nothing happening. Poor and undersized wiring outside of the unit would be my guess as the biggest fire risk. If you put all this in a small power closet, you can add automatic fire suppression device like a proteng or FireSlayer that would discharge if a fire started in the closet for peace of mind.
Yea AC200 started this way too then.. the production unit went out at 2000whr not the 1800whr Kickstarter @initial “discount” price. Wonder if they will fix and boost again the capability AFTER their initial customers debug it for them 🤷🏼♂️ -like goto 6000whr and charge the extra 30%.. kind fun shy after their tricks on AC200
I have the same question. I’ve backed the EP500pro Kickstarter, planning to use boondocking & in off-grid application, but need to transport laying down in my tow vehicle. I noticed at the start of this video the EP500 is on its back. Have you figured out the answer to this question yet?
Nice... but i would point out that that system doesnt use/pull 4000watts. The speakers use 1/10th of the power they can put out...100w for 1000w output...not like older amplifiers that need 1000 watts for 1000 watts. I bought some to test the same outdoors with pv. Coming this summmer outdoors in nyc. Keep rocking
Looks like the plastic version of apple's latest mac pro with wheels. That standby time is kinda horrendous though....15% a day is so much wasted. Guess I would have to manually turn on and off to save energy
Can you do more welding with the bluetti powering your mig welder please I would definitely love to see how long the bluetti will power the mig welder, I honestly wasn’t giving this machine a chance but now I’m curious as to how much welding can be done from this bluetti lipo battery that’s awesome
It would power a welder for atleast 2.5 hour of actual weld time. You could probably use it to weld all day. This has a 2000w inverter so that means even if the welder uses 2000w the welder would run for 2.5hours since it has a 5000wh pack. 5000wh÷2000w =2.5hours. But nobody welds nonstop for that long.
Did you need a special plug on the Bluetti to charge the Tesla car? Just wondering how you handled the bonded neutral for the generator to work. I will appreciate if you can share any recommendations.
so I have a professional audio studio. if I used this device to back up my gear and mixing board. are there any issues with ground loops or emi feeding back
Good review and tests.! I’m a newbie at all things solar, so a few Q’s. 1. What is UPS ? 2. Can you demo your Off Grid / Transfer System? That looks like exactly what I want to do? Pull the plug from So. CA. Edison when I want to. Not just a power loss back-up ! 🙏
I’m curious to know if this would power my cargo trailer... I plug it in at jobs and use it as a mobile workshop... would this be able to make some rip cuts with my table saw and miter saw at a job, or run my 30gal air compressor? And for how long? What would you recommend for a off grid power source for a mobile workshop?
Hi Dempsey, Inverters can really struggle with starting up power tools, compressors are probably the worst, i have a 2000w that can not start a small compressor. So almost certainly the EP500 will not run your compressor, the EP500 pro has a bigger inverter (3000w) so it may fair better. I would suggest looking into what Will Prowse did with his trailer, it will be cheaper and give you much higher power (6500w) which will start large power tools. Also you can add batteries if you need more capacity easily!! ruclips.net/video/JCeVbqkPqwU/видео.html Hope this helps!!
Ok so this unit is a "portable" not really portable power station, which you can use as UPS in case of an outage, but with which you can't do peak shaving with solar. Am i right ?
I feel it need to be at least 3,000 watts for as big as it is, & have serviceable cells, with a 220V Dual Voltage in a single unit. It should be something easy to accomplish as they do this on generators.
Just wondering if you know if the OCP over current protection - hardware alert on the ep500 pro easy to fix? Is there an internal breaker/fuse I can reset or replace?
I just got my Bluetti AC200P on Aug. 31st. It is not reading wattage correctly amoung other things. Max Oak has just been giving me the run around. They keep having me make videos of the issues. Sometimes it will not show that there is any wattage being dispersed and when it does show wattage when I use more wattage it says that I am using less. I was very excited about getting one of these and when I seen that it was messed up I just thought " no big deal, they will just have to replace it." WRONG!!! They are not being cool about this at all.
great video. does it look like 4 scooter batteries added to a tandem set brings power capability up by 4k? in other words adding a whole other bluetti worth of power for about $240? or am I just power hungry? :-) thats approx 14kwh power system? a proper whole house back up system!
Most EV's cannot charge while driving... If that's what you mean. you'd have to customize the car to allow it (probably void warrenty) or use a custom built car. The Sonata 2020 was supposed to have solar panels (meaning charge while driving)... so it might be good to hack for something like this.
Thanks for the awesome video ! Do you think I could charge my leaf with this ? Maybe I could get 20-30 km . I was wondering how the grounding works on the unit ?. Thanks Graham
Thank you so much for this review. I have no PV, needed a UPS for my pc anyway and thought "hey great, UPS to shut down the pc + keeping the fridge running for a few more days" but as of now this is an online/double-conversion UPS. I will have to wait and see if the offline/standby mode has a sufficient short transition time & low energy usage. Otherwise I could just buy a cheap UPS for the pc and back the fridge with a diy powerwall + manual transfer switch.
@@SHSPVR There is no need for a USB-cable if it can power the PC for >10 hours. ;-) If the power goes out just continue with your work, if the power isn't back within 5 hours turn off the pc and power the fridge for another ~3 days... at least that was the theory.

I would use it as a UPS for my fridge:) My baby boy has to eat! You should get units like the titan or inergy..... I've been looking into these as an apartment backup because you can run them inside.
I just finished making my baby boy his own 7200 watt hour wheeled 130 pound ''solar generator''. He's 35 and still cries when the power goes out. Its for his fridge and chest freezer. Last year the utility cut him out for 47 hours but the Honda 2000 generator I gave him came in handy. Now he can rig for silent running and his wifee can blow dry her hair. Cost about $2700 in parts, $100K in my engineering/fabrication time. I will give him some solar panels and 80 feet of 10 gage wire to connect the panels he can temporarily place on the patio roof. For the last 2 weeks its providing cooling for my house for free while I field test it and make minor improvements. Today I just installed Bluetooth on it to monitor the battery with my cell phone. So far, so good.
Can I select that the power station uses Solar panels as its main source until the batteries are almost depleted? So only then it uses the AC power to keep my devices running? I would like to save money on my electric bill. My house is a rental that already has 6 solar panels on the roof, but since I don't own the place I can't add more solar panels to the existing configuration, so I want to use my own solar panels to a power station and then connect my TV, PC etc to save more money in the summer. Also, If the backup battery is full and idle but the solar panels are still receiving power, can it just send the remaining power back to the power grid via the wall outlet? And does this power station also support that? Thanks for answering these 2 question, good day :)
Great video. Always enjoy the thorough details you explained in all of your videos. Couple questions. #1. As your evaluation. Do you see, can the EP500 withstand being plugged in at all times specifically the PV input? I can manually plug in the A/C input when needed. #2. Has your unit gotten the firmware update yet that dealing with the UPS issue you mentioned in this video? If so, have you had a chance to retest the UPS function? Since you said the firmware fix is to put the grid AC in bypass. It is then not in true UPS mode. Right? It will need to switch over to the AC Inverter when the grid AC is dropped. Isn't it? Do you have any way to test the switching time that switches to the battery as power source? I wonder whether this may have the 23 ms switch time as the EF Delta Pro has?
at 4 :20 it appears you are pulling two 120v power legs into your transfer switch through your home-made cable? Is that correct? Could you do something like that to get usable 240v power from one bluetti?
@JD A small cabin = Yes. A small house maybe. But ONLY if you do not need more than 2,000 Watts Total. At sunset your loads must drop below ~500 watts, to make to dawn. And you have max Solar Panels ...
@@jehugarcia In this type of product in my opinion, with its capacity and price them should include a 120v 1200w charger on it, it won't make a huge difference in final price and it will be a good feature for a customer that is paying over 2k for this power bank.

So am I right in thinking this is no good for UK 240v unless I buy 2 units?
wish they would use hardware switches for the DC/AC on/off sections instead of the touch panel. I turn my ac200p on and off all the time and that touch panel is not very responsive.
Ask for another module to run your 240v test. Please!!!!
Absolutely! Of their thrust is two with fusion box then that needs to be verified!!!!
I believe I have one of only two preproduction units, this might be the one in all the pictures and the other one is in the hands of another reviewer
@@jehugarcia It has to be Hobotech or Will. Hobo tech already posted on not releasing his video review because of the delay so maybe him.
Can this be used abroad where they use 220-240 voltz/50Hz
I would like to see a video about battery safety. I see most of your project indoors but not much is shown in case of a fire, smoke or anything else that can fail. Are batteries better indoors or outside, i would like my battery install to be apart from my house or shop, in case of a fire , or set it up in a way that the fire won't burn off your whole house. Is there anything that we can setup to help control a fire, smoke, or even battery runoff , like adding sprinklers or foam system or install the batteries outside?
Batteries are incredibly safe If used correctly, I’d say a well designed system inside a metal box is enough
It comes at a price of $2599 after a 32% discount on its potential retail price.
@@richardblank6333 85% is pretty normal. The stated capacity is always battery capacity not overall capacity.
Price Too high for me for what it is.
@@ssyoumans yup, would rather buy a Tesla Module for $1k and have 5.2kwh of storage..
Great! Can it trigger a solar inverter to power on with phase shifting?
This would be great to use at our RC Flyers Events. Plus it would be great advistment fir you.
Thanks for this excellent overview! Do you think I could lay the unit on it's side, while making sure ventilation is not compromised?
I have the same question. I’ve backed the EP500pro Kickstarter, planning to use boondocking & in off-grid application, but need to transport laying down in my tow vehicle. I noticed at the start of this video the EP500 is on its back. Have you figured out the answer to this question yet?
I can't imagine why couldn't use, store or ship this in any orientation since that's the nature of LIPO4 batteries in general.
It shouldn't matter.
Why do you have a 4000W DJ setup? Batteries by day DJ by night
I used to play in a band in another life
Nice... but i would point out that that system doesnt use/pull 4000watts.
It has a remote.
Be nice if it had a suspend mode that reduced the load from the inverter if not in use.
is this product is available in indian market ? if not ,then how to buy from india and what is cost ?
Ha buddy what size is the EV bike tires are they 29 or 27 what size tires and rims???
Also it's not a lipo battery, it's a Lifepo4 battery
Does your GFCI trip if you are using the inverter on your transfer switch?
Did you need a special plug on the Bluetti to charge the Tesla car? Just wondering how you handled the bonded neutral for the generator to work. I will appreciate if you can share any recommendations.
Yeah I made one using a plug and a receptacle just for this test
I just bought one. I live in Texas and we have blackouts all the time.
so I have a professional audio studio. if I used this device to back up my gear and mixing board. are there any issues with ground loops or emi feeding back
Good review and tests.! I’m a newbie at all things solar, so a few Q’s. 1. What is UPS ? 2. Can you demo your Off Grid / Transfer System? That looks like exactly what I want to do? Pull the plug from So. CA. Edison when I want to. Not just a power loss back-up ! 🙏
As long as it includes a teardown: 👍
Yes what inside.

Hope this helps!!
At 157 pounds, does this ship disassembled? Just wondering how UPS or fedex handles it without destroying it!
I received it on a mini pallet via freight truck
Would I be able to charge via car engine plus solar panel?
Seeing the amps and watts together, cleared up alot. Feeling good. Thanks ☺️
How long did it power the shop?you said it gave almost 4 kilowatt hours, but what was the real time to get there
All day
@@jehugarcia okay so it probably could run a window ac and a full size refrigerator all night then top off in 5or six hours of solar?
Ok so this unit is a "portable" not really portable power station, which you can use as UPS in case of an outage, but with which you can't do peak shaving with solar. Am i right ?
Sweet Jesus that's amazing!
I feel it need to be at least 3,000 watts for as big as it is, & have serviceable cells, with a 220V Dual Voltage in a single unit. It should be something easy to accomplish as they do this on generators.
They have a pro version with 3000 watts
Just wondering if you know if the OCP over current protection - hardware alert on the ep500 pro easy to fix? Is there an internal breaker/fuse I can reset or replace?
I just got my Bluetti AC200P on Aug. 31st. It is not reading wattage correctly amoung other things. Max Oak has just been giving me the run around. They keep having me make videos of the issues. Sometimes it will not show that there is any wattage being dispersed and when it does show wattage when I use more wattage it says that I am using less. I was very excited about getting one of these and when I seen that it was messed up I just thought " no big deal, they will just have to replace it."
WRONG!!! They are not being cool about this at all.
great video. does it look like 4 scooter batteries added to a tandem set brings power capability up by 4k? in other words adding a whole other bluetti worth of power for about $240? or am I just power hungry? :-) thats approx 14kwh power system? a proper whole house back up system!
yes adding extra battery seems very possible
Can you use to increase the range of your EV?
Most EV's cannot charge while driving... If that's what you mean. you'd have to customize the car to allow it (probably void warrenty) or use a custom built car. The Sonata 2020 was supposed to have solar panels (meaning charge while driving)... so it might be good to hack for something like this.
Thanks for the awesome video ! Do you think I could charge my leaf with this ? Maybe I could get 20-30 km . I was wondering how the grounding works on the unit ?. Thanks Graham
Yeah it will support up to 2000w continuous, so it can charge most Evs
@@jehugarcia This is a fantastic thanks for the great episode.
Mr Garcia can you make one test hooking up small ac window unit and see if it’ll work?please and thank you
Thank you so much for this review.
It not PC UPS better off get a reg PC UPS for that
@@SHSPVR yes i noticed that too, thanks. There was just the hope to "get a free UPS with your battery-backup-power".
@@blauesKopftuch I know I was hoping for same thing with Ecoflow Delta but it to has no true option for being a Computer UPS by USB cable
@@SHSPVR There is no need for a USB-cable if it can power the PC for >10 hours. ;-)
If the power goes out just continue with your work, if the power isn't back within 5 hours turn off the pc and power the fridge for another ~3 days... at least that was the theory.
@@blauesKopftuch LoL did you all ready for get about what happen in Texas and many area of Oklahoma and why USB is to tell the PC turn it off just a reg PC UPS dose beside many of have in home media or file server and this can at any time when not around or in bed with you know it
I would use it as a UPS for my fridge:) My baby boy has to eat! You should get units like the titan or inergy..... I've been looking into these as an apartment backup because you can run them inside.
Why not buy a UPS ?
@@MrSummitville only because it's more difficult to charge a ups with solar panels than these all in one units.
When you were testing the idle consumption did you turn off bluetooth and wifi?
Very nice review thank you so much. How much for the Vw bus
Hey boss were you able to help anybody in Texas during that snow storm like you did in Puerto Rico?
not directly
@@jehugarcia thanks for the reply, and thanks for all the great info over the years.
Great video. I would like to know how long would the Blueti EP500 run an RV 30 AMP AC Unit?
Not long. On a hot day when your AC unit is running non stop(assuming it's a 15,000btu unit) about 3hours.
at 4 :20 it appears you are pulling two 120v power legs into your transfer switch through your home-made cable? Is that correct? Could you do something like that to get usable 240v power from one bluetti?
No only 120vac available on the unit
Hi from PR!! Could you do a tutorial on that cable adapter?
What do you think of (nature's generator elite). make a video of this generator
Do you think that a small house or cabin could be powered with these units? It is almost like a smaller Telsa power wall.
Yes
Depends on, what you think is small i would say :p
@JD A small cabin = Yes. A small house maybe. But ONLY if you do not need more than 2,000 Watts Total. At sunset your loads must drop below ~500 watts, to make to dawn. And you have max Solar Panels ...
I need 10Kw Continuous 12Kw Surge Min. to operate basic things in my house. Leaning towards Nat Gas - Generac.
Why it only takes 600w from the wall? A normal plug can do 10A, so 1200w without problems...
Because it’s using the 600w charger
@@jehugarcia In this type of product in my opinion, with its capacity and price them should include a 120v 1200w charger on it, it won't make a huge difference in final price and it will be a good feature for a customer that is paying over 2k for this power bank.
The Pro version is listed as wall outlet input (1800W in US)
Nice review! I'm looking at this unit as home energy back up. Thanks!
