Can you do more welding on this bluetti please I’m super curious as to how long the bluetti will power the welder at close to Max setting
How much sir??
We have used the ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
The 4000w audio system test is exactly what I’ve been waiting for in my life. My systems larger and pulls a ton so seeing you do it on a mobile system made my day. Now I know for sure the diy system I’m building will love my audio setup with 5000w of just bass.
Thanks Jehu. Been homeless for about 4yrs stuck in a nursing home. Love & Learned about how to properly power my soon to be homestead. Thank you for your knowledge.
Agree with Brian B, 27.7 watts (4292w * .155 / 24) consumption on idle is way too high for a 2k inverter especially when combined with an inverter that is only 83.8% efficient. A Victron Multiplus with a 2000w inverter only has a standby draw of 7-9 watts. I haven't looked up other inverters like AIMs or GoPower.
The fact you used victron as your comparison is disingenuous. They have the lowest idle consumption of any inverter. 15-20w is just how it goes for most inverters. Not much can be done.
This is exactly what I was envisioning. Thanks for the demonstration and drawing attention to the UPS limitation.
Welp.. Looks like I'll be selling my AC200 1.7 2K before I even put it into service in the RV. This is the exact form factor and capacity I have been wanting to get to. Thanks for making great vids!!
No doubt I just bought the eb2500 and got it yesterday and now I see this today lol. But whatever I need the power Now and can't wait for this to get released ! Oh well way she goes I geuss
Jehu wow, I have to say, your evaluation was awesome. I am impressed with your knowledge.
keep it up jehu, I just got really into reading about this kind of stuff and watching video's on how to go off grid or have back up power. glad you make video's like this and how everyone in this community seems to be positive as to where this is going. Thank you for your honest review, sincerely texas power outage survivor 2021.
You make a lot of sense to me now, thing I want to know is, your workshop's elements that consume on a continual basis how many were they. Take a home situation you have a geyzer a refrigerator and in winter a heater, you see I want to know realistically what can you expect out of the power of this machine
Great review! The self discharge rate is excessive though. I hope they can fix that via software. That would be a deal breaker for me. Too much energy lost
Finally a channel that doesn't call it "battery generator". This looks amazing for doing drone work in the country side or proper badass UPS for my workstation. But for the price, I don't know though. Still a move in the right direction.
Finally someone who tests standby efficiency, thank you, Hobo and Will, this is how it’s done. The full picture
That top board at the back looks like the switching board for the inverter, as it has the pre-charge resistor on it. This not switching off is the culprit for the huge parasitic drain on idle.
If you switch it off it would need to be manually switched on everytime you want to power something with AC power.
I am a new subscriber. I watched another channel and it didn’t have as much information as your channel. I appreciate how much your description of this unit. I don’t know enough about how to actually put it to use for my home. So I will keep watching and hopefully pick up more of the lingo. And eventually know what shorten meanings of words which I don’t understand their acronyms. 👍
Refrigerator? Freezer? Coffee maker? The truly important stuff. Who manufactures the batteries?
Actually, the most important part is the wattage rating. It can do 4200 watts. So, for those appliances, just find the average wattage they use. For example, if your coffee maker uses 100 watts per use, you can use it around 42 times or so.
@@jeffwads Actually, Robert Nicoletti has a legitimate question. Can you answer his question ?

My concern would be the serviceability aspect. This unit would cost quiet a bit to ship back (if you can and keep all the packing materials). Love the big power aspect though ,
Exactly. I am also not a fan of the small cells used in this unit. The ac200 had better packs. I just don’t like having hundreds of cells because there is too much room for problems at this price.
@@andrewangelos85 I think the Titan was on to something with modularity but not sure how good that company is commercially
@@dnhman plus the Titan price of $3,600 for just the unit.
@@andrewangelos85 that doesn't matter. If each cell is fused its fine. I would rather have 1/300 of my pack go bad vs 1/12th.
They will come to your house to fix it or pay for the shipping. No cost out of your pocket.
Love you’re content, Keep doing a great job. Sending some love from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷.
Finally! I've been looking your review on this.
Why does everyone test with some kind of tool but never LOAD the tool? A chop saw NOT CHOPPING doesn't use nearly the load that it would use running through material. And likewise...balsa would be different than construction lumber vs. quality hardwood vs. metal, etc.
Agree, chop thru some oak, or at least some pine, anything.
Yes yes... the motor would pull more power while cutting through the wood. A harder wood would require more power.
wait, my chop saw trips the breaker on startup but if it somehow doesn't than the saw runs ok, so actually you're wrong. if the power supply can survive the start up that is the greatest feat. not all chop saws use a lot of power though, for sure the harbor freight hercules chop saw does, thing is a beast
actually none of what you say makes any sense, he used the mig welder that has an insane surge and power draw. your logic is completely wrong here
@@eksine You don't have to believe me...Try it yourself with a meter...You think the motor won't draw more power once it encounters a hard wood? If your breaker is tripping on startup then your breaker already almost full and has loads running on it. Motors do have a startup current yes... but what were saying is that without testing it with a cut, one can't truly measure the load it would draw while in use... I would check you "logic" before a quick response.
Yes he did use a welder and the comment was not based on that...
Be well.
I can see some good modifications for this by adding your own batteries in parallel to the existing batteries of the unit
Great love that ups system, been wanting a backup for my refrigerator at a second home.
Awesome review as usual!
I was really wishing they sent u both to do the 220v test, I need a versatile system for my sister in Liberia. She has solar but currently using lead acid.

U on point bro, needed similar for similar reason. Small world
Definitely getting this for my workstation. Good battery size. ✌🏼
ugh they're really gonna kickstart this? they're such a big company now they don't need to
not really a big company at least they can't deliver products as fast as other big companies in the market.
@@tysonmarcus9231 They are a huge company, Bluetti is a brand owned by Maxoak newener inc, which is related to Poweroak newener a large Chinese company, you can find there products on Allibaba easily. Don't be fooled into thinking Bluetti is a small American company, it is not!!
They use Kickstarter, i suspect, to reduce thier own investment and risk into new products. Also Bluetti product are very similar to Poweroaks, so how much development are they actually doing? Is any of the kickstarter development research being sent to other divisions to profit outside of the intended investment?
Blindly investing on kickstarter should be discouraged, people should take a little time and look at the company they are thinking about sending their money too, is it really going where you think? will you get a fully finished product (which early Bluetti products seem not to be).
Kickstarter is great for people and companies that dont have the resources to develop a product or service, Bluetti is not in this position, it is part of a multi-national organisation with huge resources.
you dont understand what kickstarter is, do you? lol
@@DieselRamcharger do you?
@@eksine yes. its a giant scam. ran by huge corporations to bilk you for profits while not actually delivering anything.
i have the ac200p eu version i charge my twizy with that it can handle 2000 watts constantly. This 500 unit maybe interresting for long time campers. its plug and play just buy some solar p and youre ready to go. And the possibility to use 2 of them together is a good idea
Seeing the amps and watts together, cleared up alot. Feeling good. Thanks ☺️
That was a pretty big smile you had on your face when you opened that box lol
It has an idle consumption of about 50W though (calculated on the ~4.2KWh capacity, with a ~30% discharge after 24h), that's quite high
That's unacceptably high. 15-20w is what it should be. My cheap Chinese 2000w/4000w peak inverter has a 17w power consumption at idle.
Great Video and Review! Looks like a pretty sweet setup!🤘
Good review and tests.! I’m a newbie at all things solar, so a few Q’s. 1. What is UPS ? 2. Can you demo your Off Grid / Transfer System? That looks like exactly what I want to do? Pull the plug from So. CA. Edison when I want to. Not just a power loss back-up ! 🙏
You should do a modern generator system vs solar/battery option for at home. I’m in the process of looking at all my options would definitely think your viewers would enjoy it. Sorry forgot to mention love all your videos.
What do you mean by "modern generator"?
you have to love how he used it at closed to 2kw but he didnt even said how long in time did it power it too.
This review was missing the solar panels hooked up to it but either than that it was great review amazing !
Question: I had a transfer switch installed in my house when I bought a portable 10k watt generator. If I were to purchase the Bluetti would I be able to use the same transfer switch or would it need modifications? Full disclosure I’m solar, LP & Gas generator ignorant so please don’t get complicated with the answer.
Also what parts would I need on hand for repairing the Bluetti should a solar flare or EMP event happen? Thank you for your time.
That thing looks great, asking price is a little steep, although I guess it's pretty good when you look at it as a whole package.
I just bought one. I live in Texas and we have blackouts all the time.

I have FOUR BLUETTI units. Ac30. AC50S. EB240. AC200. I absolutely love them all. Using in Sprinter Van. Wow I would love this unit. If I can find a way I would have this in the van ... I need a monthly payment plan for 6 months ... I will find a way ...
How many watts of solar do you have on your Van? And how long does it take to just fill up the EB240 with them? I'm trying to put together a build. 2 EB150 or 1 EB240.
is this product is available in indian market ? if not ,then how to buy from india and what is cost ?
Nice video. Can you cut something on the chop saw. I find it hard to believe that a software update will fix the UPS problems. It seems like it would have to be a hardware update to fix this issue. Maybe just because it is a preproduction unit.
It is just another faulty Bluetti product, This happens all the time, People should avoid this till Bluetti starts making reliable products.
Hi Sir, I see you did a DC idle power test, but have you done the same for the AC? I am wondering how much it consumes just by having the AC enabled. Thanks for your feedback on that! Have a nice day! Adrian
As long as it includes a teardown: 👍
Nice review! I'm looking at this unit as home energy back up. Thanks!
Hi Could you tell me more about your transfer switch, brand and your cable used. Thanks
It comes at a price of $2599 after a 32% discount on its potential retail price.
Yea AC200 started this way too then.. the production unit went out at 2000whr not the 1800whr Kickstarter @initial “discount” price. Wonder if they will fix and boost again the capability AFTER their initial customers debug it for them 🤷🏼♂️ -like goto 6000whr and charge the extra 30%.. kind fun shy after their tricks on AC200
@@richardblank6333 85% is pretty normal. The stated capacity is always battery capacity not overall capacity.
Price Too high for me for what it is.
@@ssyoumans yup, would rather buy a Tesla Module for $1k and have 5.2kwh of storage..
I feel it need to be at least 3,000 watts for as big as it is, & have serviceable cells, with a 220V Dual Voltage in a single unit. It should be something easy to accomplish as they do this on generators.
They have a pro version with 3000 watts
I don't have a good grasp of how much energy this can provide and how much energy stuff uses yet. I am learning. But if you don't plug anything else into this unit, do you think you can run a window air conditioner?
Thank you so much for this review.
I have no PV, needed a UPS for my pc anyway and thought "hey great, UPS to shut down the pc + keeping the fridge running for a few more days" but as of now this is an online/double-conversion UPS. I will have to wait and see if the offline/standby mode has a sufficient short transition time & low energy usage.
Otherwise I could just buy a cheap UPS for the pc and back the fridge with a diy powerwall + manual transfer switch.
It not PC UPS better off get a reg PC UPS for that
@@SHSPVR yes i noticed that too, thanks. There was just the hope to "get a free UPS with your battery-backup-power".
@@blauesKopftuch I know I was hoping for same thing with Ecoflow Delta but it to has no true option for being a Computer UPS by USB cable
@@SHSPVR There is no need for a USB-cable if it can power the PC for >10 hours. ;-)
If the power goes out just continue with your work, if the power isn't back within 5 hours turn off the pc and power the fridge for another ~3 days... at least that was the theory.
@@blauesKopftuch LoL did you all ready for get about what happen in Texas and many area of Oklahoma and why USB is to tell the PC turn it off just a reg PC UPS dose beside many of have in home media or file server and this can at any time when not around or in bed with you know it
just don't turn on the saw, you need to actually cut the wood, to see if it faults out
The elephant in the room, is the computer chips which grow fibers like corrosion shorting between the legs of the chips. It’s great, until the short. Will this failure cause an overcharged state or fire.? Will it just fail to charge, turning the unit into a toxic boat anchor.? This depends on the short location and that determines system failure condition. 😢
Great review Jehu!
I'm some situations the double conversion mode of UPS is preferable. To get around the 600W limit of the (internal?) AC to DC, could you buy an external 1200W AC to DC to plug into the solar charge port?
Does this have car charging mode (12V@8.2A) like the AC200? Tesla Model 3 lighter socket will output 12V@10A max. It will be useful to tap into the vehicle's larger battery (no matter how slow the charge rate) when needed.
wish they would use hardware switches for the DC/AC on/off sections instead of the touch panel. I turn my ac200p on and off all the time and that touch panel is not very responsive.
I would use it as a UPS for my fridge:) My baby boy has to eat! You should get units like the titan or inergy..... I've been looking into these as an apartment backup because you can run them inside.
Why not buy a UPS ?
@@MrSummitville only because it's more difficult to charge a ups with solar panels than these all in one units.
I just finished making my baby boy his own 7200 watt hour wheeled 130 pound ''solar generator''. He's 35 and still cries when the power goes out. Its for his fridge and chest freezer. Last year the utility cut him out for 47 hours but the Honda 2000 generator I gave him came in handy. Now he can rig for silent running and his wifee can blow dry her hair. Cost about $2700 in parts, $100K in my engineering/fabrication time. I will give him some solar panels and 80 feet of 10 gage wire to connect the panels he can temporarily place on the patio roof. For the last 2 weeks its providing cooling for my house for free while I field test it and make minor improvements. Today I just installed Bluetooth on it to monitor the battery with my cell phone. So far, so good.
Ha buddy what size is the EV bike tires are they 29 or 27 what size tires and rims???
Looks like the plastic version of apple's latest mac pro with wheels. That standby time is kinda horrendous though....15% a day is so much wasted. Guess I would have to manually turn on and off to save energy
It has a remote.
Be nice if it had a suspend mode that reduced the load from the inverter if not in use.
What is the charge time from grid?? Does it fast charge like the ecoflow?
Good observation on the UPS limitation

I just got my Bluetti AC200P on Aug. 31st. It is not reading wattage correctly amoung other things. Max Oak has just been giving me the run around. They keep having me make videos of the issues. Sometimes it will not show that there is any wattage being dispersed and when it does show wattage when I use more wattage it says that I am using less. I was very excited about getting one of these and when I seen that it was messed up I just thought " no big deal, they will just have to replace it."
WRONG!!! They are not being cool about this at all.
Why do they keep putting cheap inverters in these things???
Why , do you call it cheap ?
@@MrSummitville because they are! I work with and repair inverters very often. Not to mention, the battery in this unit can support a MUCH better/stronger higher output inverter. Not worth the money as is.
How long is the wait for delivery
Ok so this unit is a "portable" not really portable power station, which you can use as UPS in case of an outage, but with which you can't do peak shaving with solar. Am i right ?
Can you do more welding with the bluetti powering your mig welder please I would definitely love to see how long the bluetti will power the mig welder, I honestly wasn’t giving this machine a chance but now I’m curious as to how much welding can be done from this bluetti lipo battery that’s awesome
It would power a welder for atleast 2.5 hour of actual weld time. You could probably use it to weld all day. This has a 2000w inverter so that means even if the welder uses 2000w the welder would run for 2.5hours since it has a 5000wh pack.
5000wh÷2000w =2.5hours. But nobody welds nonstop for that long.
Also it's not a lipo battery, it's a Lifepo4 battery
I would like to see a video about battery safety. I see most of your project indoors but not much is shown in case of a fire, smoke or anything else that can fail. Are batteries better indoors or outside, i would like my battery install to be apart from my house or shop, in case of a fire , or set it up in a way that the fire won't burn off your whole house. Is there anything that we can setup to help control a fire, smoke, or even battery runoff , like adding sprinklers or foam system or install the batteries outside?
Batteries are incredibly safe If used correctly, I’d say a well designed system inside a metal box is enough
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) is a safer battery chemistry than Lithium Ion but weighs more for the same amount of power storage. You can see videos of people using a power drill to run through a LiFePO4 battery pack and nothing happening. Poor and undersized wiring outside of the unit would be my guess as the biggest fire risk. If you put all this in a small power closet, you can add automatic fire suppression device like a proteng or FireSlayer that would discharge if a fire started in the closet for peace of mind.
So am I right in thinking this is no good for UK 240v unless I buy 2 units?
Is this a legitimate alternative to portable gas generators?
Is this better then the ecoflow delta?
man, brother soundings good, advice on best price of per Watts for a pure sine wave inverter, 3000 watts, let me know the one you sell in your kit, just need the inverter right now. keep up the good EV site. I guess these sort of things are going to be the next phase of kickstarters.
At 157 pounds, does this ship disassembled? Just wondering how UPS or fedex handles it without destroying it!
I received it on a mini pallet via freight truck
Can this be used abroad where they use 220-240 voltz/50Hz
Can you add a battery other then adding a whole unit?
Did you need a special plug on the Bluetti to charge the Tesla car? Just wondering how you handled the bonded neutral for the generator to work. I will appreciate if you can share any recommendations.
Yeah I made one using a plug and a receptacle just for this test
Mine is charging off the solar that came with it right now and it is only getting 26 input volts.
Great! Can it trigger a solar inverter to power on with phase shifting?
1200w at 150v so .. charging two units means gotta have 24 100 watt panels array that’s a HUGE ARRAY.. assume most would go 200W panels? 150volts is same as Ac200.. wonder why they didn’t increase input voltage?
And 85% on battery? Should be like 90 -95 right! Isn’t the AC200 closer to that. So is this a thumbs up or down from you overall.. hope you do a follow up with parallel units
For solar, I'd go with (4) 330 watt residential panels, 2 series 2 parallel configuration for 1,320 watts total. Hopefully ok to over panel since unlikely to see full power anyhow, would have a Voc of 82v, Vmp of 69.2v and Imp of 19.1 amps.
@@ssyoumans do you have a source you like or experience with that I can price compare? Thanks for your feedback!

Nice... but i would point out that that system doesnt use/pull 4000watts. I need 10Kw Continuous 12Kw Surge Min. to operate basic things in my house. Leaning towards Nat Gas - Generac.
Can the wireless chargers on top be turned off? Turning that off can probably help with standby time.
The wireless charge would use next to no power while at idle. The idle power draw is coming from almost exclusively the inverter.
SHTF situation, I will just power the following:
Fridge, for frozen food
Fan, during summer
LED lights
I'm trying to understand this stuff. Don't you need 2400 watts to get a full 20A outlet? How can this thing have 4 - 20A outlets with a 2000W output? Can you use to increase the range of your EV?
Most EV's cannot charge while driving... If that's what you mean. you'd have to customize the car to allow it (probably void warrenty) or use a custom built car. The Sonata 2020 was supposed to have solar panels (meaning charge while driving)... so it might be good to hack for something like this.
I got the EP500 and connected one Renogy 150D 12volt solar panel to it via MC4 cable. I don't know which +/- set on the Bluetti MC4 adapter cable to use. My PV input W is at zero, but it shows the input voltage at 22.0 on the DC Input screen of the Bluetti with the Input Power at 0 watts. It does not appear to be charging even in full sun. Yes what inside.
That 4000-watt DJ stereo system appears to be about a 1500 actual peak watt stereo system which is why RMS is how all stereo amplifiers should be rated to prevent the sales lies since the average looked like it was well under 500 watts most of the time. That stereo system should have been sold as 300-500 watts RMS and 1600-2000 watts peak. If this stereo was actually 4000watts peak it would very likely need to be plugged into a 30A 120v or 15A 240V dedicated circuit in order to provide the necessary power and prevent tripping breakers constantly since breakers can go over their trip rating for short periods of time. It would also be next to impossible to cool this unit if it was actually using that much power without a ton of heatsinks and fans.
It looks like that battery unit could be shrunk down by at least 30-40% before final production and they could build the outer portion of the chassis out of sheet stainless shell with a few bends for rigidity that would make the entire unit more dense stronger smaller and more rugged along with looking far more premium without adding much to the cost. They should also use an LF inverter and tune it down so that it is in that 5-15 watt idle power consumption range when the inverter is on.
When charging the tesla I notice the use of ac mode , Doe it better charge a t dc ?
Great video. I would like to know how long would the Blueti EP500 run an RV 30 AMP AC Unit?
Not long. On a hot day when your AC unit is running non stop(assuming it's a 15,000btu unit) about 3hours.
How much. Thanks
