There’s a lot of things that you yourself are throwing away money on. Coffee is just a small thing in comparison to other big ticket items. The average monthly car note on a new vehicle is 725 or 24 dollars a day. Sometimes people have the ability to splurge on themselves when others don’t.

My primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about £170k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.
A strategy to protect against inflation is through the U.S stock market, especially the S&P500 & various ETFs. Investors must know where to put their money and how to distribute it in order to protect it against inflation while still making a profit, especially during a recession.
The truth is that people are finally waking up to the fact that our systems are breaking down in thousands of different ways all around us. @@saininj Right, and portions have shrunk. We stopped going to most all Fast Food restaurants for the last year or so..this includes McDonald's, Wendy's, Chipotles, Starbucks.
Maybe now people will start eating more healthy food at home. It will be a big win because people will go home to eat instead of sitting in their cars in a drive through fast food place waiting for the food.
I shook off that guilt a long time ago because I know it's not owed to someone making a full hourly wage. Even in States where they get the full stately minimum wage tips are not owed. That's for places that pay a few bucks or so an hour and tips are supposed to make up the difference. They can try to change the custom all they want to but if society refuses to partake in it then it's not gonna stick.
I cut my tipping down by 70% for all tipping except restaurants or other traditional tip services. Starbucks, McDs, takeout, etc...I almost never tips those any longer. I stopped at Aldi a couple months ago in the morning and there's a Starbucks in the same parking lot. There was a line in the drive thru wrapped out of their parking lot and into the Aldi parking lot, probably 15 cars in line and I couldn't help but to think how incredibly dense and brainwashed you'd have to be to wait 20+ minutes in line while your vehicle is burning fuel just to pay $7 for a .15 cent cup of sugary coffee and then do that 4-5 days a week. One of the most insane things I've ever seen.
If you do the math, people who buy the $7 coffee for 4-5 days a week will end up spending at least $120 a month only for coffee, it gets worst when you add the amount of fuel they are burning.
@jpd9355 I really hate how walmart masquerades it's exploitation of ppl with different capabilities as inclusion. ISS Facility Services does the same thing.
My rent went from $1300 a month to $2100 a month in 2 years. That $900 has to come from somewhere else in the budget. Fast food restaurants have continually increased prices, reduced quality/quantity, and have shown little regard for their customers or employees. Buying groceries at an inflated rate is still cheaper and healthier than a fast food meal these days.
@@Mr_Boifriend Probably no surprise if you follow housing at all but my rent in Phoenix doubled in like 2 years. 800 to 1500 for a 1 bedroom, and we moved into a bigger apartment at the same complex which was $1680 first year and then $1900 at first renewal. With pet rent, common area maintenance, mandatory valet trash, tax etc we paid $2250 a month. That was in 2022 and that would have been unheard of in 2019.

I just make a frappe whenever I want to using a NutriBullet and ice. Best thing is, I can make it low calories (using monk fruit extract as the sweetener), so the only calories are the milk (80 Kcal)+maple syrup (50 Kcal for 3 teaspoon), and whipped cream (60 Kcal). Starbucks success was based on the store itself. You went there to relax, to study, or even work if you were remote. You would go there to talk to a friend. Then they became cocky, thinking their success was mostly on how amazing their coffee, which is not just coffee after all.
With the 2020 crisis , they have reduced the number of chairs and tables and did not set the clock since then. They even close at 10 pm no matter what is going on downtown. So it is not a surprise that they see a decline.

I remember back around 2001, Starbucks was a meeting place where people socialized. It was fun. I made a lot of friends there while I was hanging out and studying. Then they changed their focus and no one was hanging out anymore. They remodeled in a way that discouraged that social aspect and defeated the coffee house as a hub for friends. I didn't go there because I loved their coffee.
I think that process started around 07 or 08 and that was the beginning of their fall. They also stopped allowing people to smoke outside on the patio. That hurt them as well. When there's too many constraints and people are no longer encouraged to hang out at such places it's gonna hurt their bottom line eventually.

To me it's not about sugar, you can tell them not to put sugar too much. My issue with Starbucks is the price. I almost never go to Starbucks. Went in for a small black coffee last week. I was only customer in the place. 5 employees rushing around, yet I waited for several minutes, still no greeting, no help. I finally had to call out to one of them to ask if I could just get a small black coffee. They were rude. The lady practically threw the $4.00 cup of Luke warm bitter coffee at me. Never again.
I've had that at Cava and MCDonalds. Who are all these people they are helping? Place is empty. Chipotle is only "fast food" I do because they actually care about you, at least where I am in NY
That's the thing. As the working class finally realize that they have been duped by "consumerism". That is, the idea that the 80 and 90s started, where you can become one of the upper class simply by buying your way into it. Flashy cars and trendy things and we saw it up to even last year with FOMO B.S. like that Stanley Cup idiocy. Except it's all hit a wall and everyone is looking at a pile of bills and nothing for it. So something like Starbucks is now seen as "a place for sheep who are trying to act like they are all that" or as something you are forced to buy, like food in an airport - at stupid prices. The trendy part of the equation is gone. And honestly, good riddance given how many small coffee shops they put out of business. Where I go, I can still get a good cappuccino for $3. It's small but excellent. The economy, as you note, is more or less the same - just it's now not fashionable to waste your money on corporate chains and franchises. It's instead turned to doing it yourself (espresso machines are flying off the shelves) or supporting smaller businesses if you can.
Yes! There is no F ing way that 2 things cost $12 to get! It is absolutely greed. Without dropping their prices. Their employees won’t get a single dollars of tips from me!
@@nakiflo Yeah it's insane. Even with the increase in wages it doesn't make sense for the "inflation" mark ups. Labor is typically 33% of the price, so even a 25% increase in wages would only add about .50 cents to the price of each drink. They are just using inflation as an excuse to up prices and line their pockets.
That has nothing to do with a recession. They are absolutely tired of prices that are high for no reason. These companies and companies like grocery stores are price gouging for no reason for no other reason than to line their pockets
I did a report on this as part of my undergrad program well over a decade ago. Starbucks based its business model on being the “third place,” a meeting place and hangout, as a way to justify its higher prices for a commodity. I warned in my report that the drive through, carry out, and mobile order (line skips), while generating massive business in the short term, would eventually deteriorate the experience Starbucks was explicitly cultivating, where they wanted customer spending larger amounts of times in its stores. Once that happened, they would be commoditizing themselves to the point of allowing upstarts and other competitors, as well as degrading the experience overall. Sure enough, this is exactly what happened, it just had a longer tail than I was expecting.
Not a bad thesis, but I still see older people chillin at Starbucks reading the paper like they always have. They've modernized for sure, but I don't think it's as bad or as damaging as people are assuming.
@@FrozenGrapes-y4b When Starbucks can't handle the morning rush (peak time for coffee sales), specifically because of all the convenience options they have added over the years, it's a sign they have broken their primary business model. Starbucks pursued volume over quality, but their model was based on quality. For example, they sold CDs of the music they played in the stores. Those sales fell off a cliff because people weren't experiencing that music any more, discovering new artists. They replaced that revenue with grab and go items, but this to me was the canary in the coal mine. That some people (particularly, in your words, older people) still consider Starbucks their third place is not proof my thesis is wrong. There are always change laggards. What Starbucks needs right now is a CEO who can lead the transformation of Starbucks into what it needs to be for the economy going forward. In my opinion, they either need to fully lean into the direction they've been going (quick service eatery), or more likely, shift into a franchise model like McDonalds where their primary business is real estate (leveraging all those locations).

I'm really glad you talked about how bad Starbucks' business decision have been and that this isn't just about the economy. I used to work at Starbucks in High School back in the last 2000s. Their whole thing was making their stores a "3rd Place"-ie a place people can relax and stay a while, meet with friends, etc. But something happened in the last 10 years. They took out all their comfy chairs, even the outdoor patios are empty now. It's a straight up hostile place to be now. So they just said a big "F you!" to the people who like going to coffee shops, which was a huge base of their customers. I don't know who in the hell at Starbucks thought this was a good strategy, but they should be fired.
That's interesting, I'm in the UK, I think they still have the comfy chairs here. Their coffee is terrible, i only ever went there because it was a comfortable place to hang out.

I think another contributing factor is that many Starbucks stores were/are located near Commercial Real Estate buildings which are not having the foot traffic they used to have.
After almost 2 decades of getting my daily Starbucks on my commute to work, the brand lost its appeal to me once I began working remotely. Yes, it’s overpriced, healthy options are limited, and the shops no longer have the inviting and comforting vibe to lure people in to pause for a moment and enjoy a beverage to the tunes of a relaxing Bossa Nova background track. The stores feel cold and transactional now so it no longer justifies the premium people would pay for the experience.
Meanwhile there is a small mom and pop boba or coffee place that is like that - with better prices. Where I live, Starbucks is very low traffic and the place two blocks away is packed. Better coffee and a nice place to relax for $2 less? Duh.

So we see a Starbucks, go inside and see that there is no chairs to sit on at all! We definitely were willing to spend money, but it was the coldest and most unwelcoming vibe. So we walked right out and found a different coffee shop about 4 blocks away that had very comfortable big lounge leather chairs! The barista even offered us dessert for free (it was closing time) because otherwise they would be tossed in the garbage. We spent money very happily there and got our feet up for a nice coffee break! The next day we were leaving and stopped by at the same coffee shop “Uptown Espresso”, it was an amazing experience and very warm and inviting! 7$ for one cup of coffee, or 7$ for a tin of coffee that can make 1 month of coffee. 10$ for a burger, or 10$ for 2 loafs of brown bread, lunchmeat, tomatoes, cucumbers for food for 2 weeks. A fast food meal + delivery for 50$+ Tip for one meal. Or 70$ for groceries for 2-3 weeks. Keep in mind, these are franchises. 20/40% of what they make depending on the franchise is given to the holding company they get their name from. These are still being raised, the next largest cost for a business is rent for location, third its the cost of labor then its the cost of ingredients. The cost of ingredients has gone up, but that's because there are more stores being opened and competing for the supply. But the % each franchise gives to the parent company isn't determined on anything but greed. Business want people to blame the cost of labor, but if you look at mcdonalds who the business needs to pay 20-40% for using the mcdonalds name, not to mention mcdonalds also owns the ground the franchise is built upon so they're also collecting rent. @@istvanpraha Carl Marx foretold this in his second book, Das Kapital. That capitalism is in the end a reworking of feudalism in that you merely get to choose your master. Unless you go into business yourself and escape the mass of (ex) peasant workers, you will never really win. edit - you CAN survive and have a normal life, but never will be one of the "special" people. And that's the fallacy of the U.S. - that everyone believed that they can be one of the special ones in life and that being "normal" is somehow failing. For generations this was largely promoted as being able to buy your way to success by being a top consumer and showing off your status and wealth. I went to a brand new Starbucks at National and Overland in LA last week. Welcome to the new version of Starbucks in LA, right? Uh, not really. Need to use the restroom? Sorry, gone. Wanna walk in and sit to drink your drink? Nope, front door is employees only. Walk to the window and order a drink? No, sorry..all bulletproof glass and cameras. Drive through? Sorry, the driveway is there but it just spits you back onto Overland Ave. Pay with cash or card? Nope mobile app ordering only. Sit outside? Sorry, no loitering. And this is what it's come to at this point. I don't have the app, so I didn't even get a drink there.
And don't forget in the middle-East, North Africa, Malaysia and Indonesia are boycotting Starbucks due to the Israel-Gaza war and Starbucks' response to their employees about it. And we should always support local businesses instead of large corporations.
There is a Starbucks near my house. I run early in the morning and the last 3 months have noticed there are far less cars in the drive through in the mornings.
Not a coffee drinker, but I'm glad the consumer is pushing back on these inflated prices. Staying at home isn't so bad, I've been doing that a lot more the last couple years. Less stress too.
It's so weird now watching old movies from the early 2000s when Starbucks was doing product placement to the point where the culture shifted and it became more about the cup as a fashion accessory then about the beverage
I tried to order a black coffee the other day to save some money, then I went to look for cream, milk, sugar, etc. and couldn’t find anything. I asked the people behind the counter and they said they don’t leave that out anymore and that none of the Starbucks around me do anymore. That was 3 months ago and I’m not buying them again. I don’t want the fancy expensive coffee, I just want a simple coffee and they are definitely discouraging that now.
I always ask for a "small" coffee and they always try to brainwash me into saying "tall." Sometimes they'll ask "tall" three times, but I'm stubborn so I always outlast them 🤪
Years ago the corporate coffee companies paid for a study that claimed you are more likely to be a psychopath if you drink black coffee. This is what stock market companies do to manipulate the public into spending more money..
I use to work at a Starbucks and we couldn’t leave the milk out at our location even before it became policy- we had people that would come in without ordering and fill their reusable mug full of milk or cream and leave. People who were just trying to add it to their coffee ended up frustrated anyways because the carafes were always empty.
Doing field work for state government, i stopped going to Starbucks in my service area due to the removal of tables, blocking electrical outlets or closing dining rooms forcing walk up or drive thru only. Used to be a good place to relax and reset between field visits. My vehicle is now my mobile office.

*After 1 year of purchasing coffee from Starbucks, my calculations came to $2,800. a year. That made me stop, it was $14.00 plus dollars a day, plus and that was five years ago. So I went to ordering my expensive coffee on line, now $18.00 for 1 bag which lasts 1 month, plus all the different creamers and sryups I add to it costs more. But my own coffee is that darn good.*
Get woke, go broke. Huge coffee drinker here... I was a Starbucks addict since like 2002. I haven't given them a dime since the went woke in 2015. Fight with your wallet. You have the power! They had fantastic coffee drinks. But the last few years (2014-2015) they were already getting sloppy. The baristas didn't seem to give a damn about quality anymore and the coffee became hit or miss. I think a lot of people don't want to give money to a company that hates them. And now anyone with real bills can't afford that type of luxurious spending.
I bet you can find a local roaster who sells a bag of coffee beans for $12. You will get a lot more coffee, that taste way better while supporting a local business.
What I do is have them make the food and when I get the the bill, I tell them " nevermind " lol When they ask why I'm refusing to pay, I reply I can't afford $50 for 2 cheeseburgers and walkout.
Starbucks stopped being a coffee shop in favor of being a coffee themed candy store. Ten years ago they started making their stores as uncomfortable as possible, choosing their locations to maximize the drive through windows, and making their beverages diabetes generators. There were always squatters who spent the day there, but often they were interesting people who were part of the draw of the place. The staff, young, attractive, pleasant, and well trained, added to the experience. They remembered you from one visit to the next. An app is a poor substitute for that personal touch. I still enjoy a french press of Sumatra every morning, but now it is on my front porch at home.
I’ve stopped giving my money to “fake Starbucks” and only going to “real Starbucks”. If it doesn’t have restrooms and charging ports, I don’t go in. I get my money’s worth from this corporation 😂
I was in a high-end shoe store yesterday, and I told the salesman that I was interested in a particular pair of shoes for $100. He said that they never go on sale, and the price was $120. After trying on the shoes, I asked for a discount. At first he offered 5%, and I turned away. Then he offered 10%, and I bought the shoes. There was nobody in the store, and obviously nobody was buying these expensive shoes. It shows that the recession is impending, and you can find discounts if you ask.
Here is the thing, those are not expensive shoes. Expensive shoes are $500 and up, and ironically, it’s easier to sell them because rich people are the only people who have money to spend. I’ll give you a little story from just before shit hit the fan in 2007… I went to buy a pair of $130 shoes in 2007 dollars, which would have been a decent pair for middle class shoes, the store that catered to people with some money(but not wealthy)was EMPTY… and I went across the mall to the place where shoes can be $1000 and it was packed with shoppers. Moral of the story, I knew that day that the middle class was broke and that we were about to be in deep shit… and then 2008 happened. It’s 2024, the middle class doesn’t even exist any more, everybody has been buying inflated groceries with credit cards and we are all just about at maxed out. Shit is about to hit the fan again… and Biden is talking about raising taxes.
I was an avid Starbucks customer but I stopped going because... 1) the staff literally were falling over themselves to get a tip out of me because one time i gave a nice tip, it was way too much pressure to tip 2) i have a fairly easy order but the inconsistency in what I would receive honestly would ruin my day because I would look forward to my morning coffee to get me through the work day, if it was wrong, I would have a bad day 3) wait times, again i had a pretty easy order but sometimes I'd wait 20 minutes for it to be ready, very hard to do when you are heading to work and need to be on time 4) i often would get a toasted sandwich and would always ask for it to be cut in half so the ingredients wouldn't fall all over my lap when eating... Various locations would tell me they can't cut it in half, I'd ask why, they would just say they can't, it's policy. Yet other locations would cut it in half, i got sick of the game of can i get breakfast or lunch and not have to juggle my food or argue with the server. 5) giving your name... Sick of giving my name at Starbucks, sick of them remembering my name and being all extroverted and all over me when I'd walk in. Im an introvert and btw haven't had my coffee yet so not in a mentally happy place to chit chat first thing in the morning. Im very willing to pay a high price for a great cup of coffee, just got sick of the stress and disappointment of a visit to Starbucks. Found a local high end coffee shop where I wait maybe a minute for my coffee made correctly everytime, zero pressure for tips, delicious food and good service.
I agree with all of these, especially the second one. They don't know how to make simple basic coffee drinks anymore, if you don't order one of the drinks that's packed with sugar and flavors, they don't know how to make it. I also don't want them to remember my name and treat me like a buddy when I come in, I'm tired and haven't had caffeine yet, I just want to quietly get my drink and go.
What you're saying is something I think aligns with how I've been handling my businesses and sales in-general. I've been around many business owners who believe building a 'connection' with customers is key. While it probably is true to some capacity, I always believe you should cut the small talk, be fast, efficient, accurate, etc. People will appreciate professional much more than small talk IMO.
Though, to be fair, getting paid under minimum wage does make you desperate for tips. The issue is that in many states the manager can pay as little as $2.13 an hour and the rest must be made up with tips as a "Tip credit". Now, of course, they do get minimum wage IF the tips aren't enough, but it's basically the management skimming profits and just making them desperate for tips to maybe end up with $14 or $15 an hour in the end. Welcome to franchise laws. This is why I always find a way to give the tip directly to the employee in cash. Funny how $0 in tip happened on that $40 meal. (hands a 10 dollar bill to the server)
I stopped going to these corporate stores years ago. The local small business cafe will sell me a Medium Coffee for $1.49, a small almond pastry $2.49, a loaf of french bread or a batard for $2.89, a bowl of French onion soup, 3.29 and a small salad and apiece of french bread $6.95. If I go to a corporate franchise store a few blocks away the same meal is $12.00 plus tax and tip. The new under $10.00 menu line is essentially a half a bowl of soup and a half a sandwich. A basic Medium drink is now $3.95. So I have not been back to the franchise coffee shop/lunch plate store in 6 and a half months. I will stick with the locally owned business stores in town for any number of reasons.
31 cents...sounds like you buy your k pods at bulk store like costco....so add the annual fee, and the cost of the machine. Also, I doubt you drink it black, so add the cost of milk sugar...whatever else. and also, a single pod is good for like 8 oz of coffee, vs 16-20 for starbucks. I get that its cheaper, but you are comparing apples to oranges. Everyone also assumes that people aren't factoring in the time that its takes to shop for all the ingredients to make coffee....or the fact that most gen z can't work a coffee machine.
I'm like you. Once I started to work from home, I stopped drinking coffee completely. I gave up caffeine. I switched to decaf and herbal teas. Now I start my work-from-home days at the stove with my tea kettle. I brew my own flavorful blends that I buy online. I hate long lines, and I hate spending $7 a cup of coffee. I also hate being "managed" out of the store as a customer. I used to love sitting in coffee shops and just chilling out. That's really not an option anymore.
Starbucks is also particularly affected by their political stance in the Palestine/ Israel conflict. There is a reason why corporations are supposed to be "neutral".
They don't have a political stance on Israel/Palestine. Their union made a post on Twitter supporting Palestine, and Starbucks sued the union because they don't want their brand used to promote any political position.
Do you know why Starbucks manages to maintain the same coffee taste in all its cafes around the world? Because they purposely make it bad; over-roasted beans make the coffee taste burnt, and this flavor is easy to standardize. It’s absolute madness to pay $6+ for such crappy coffee.
There is another very important reason that people are avoiding Starbucks stores that you didn't mention. It is the work-from-home transition. Customers were stopping at the drive-ups before, at lunch and after work. Including at least 2 lattes a day and a pastry, I would spend at least $20 every workday. That's over $5,000 a year that Starbuck's no longer sees for ONE customer. On some evenings and weekends, I would take my laptop and spend roughly another $10 plus occassional merchandise - another $1,000 per year. As you stated the sit-down service has deteriorated to long waits behind drive-up customers. The employees are timed by computers from order to delivery with more employees on the drive-up side. It's not uncommon to see three window orders process while one counter customer is waiting. Starbucks has forgotten to be the "shop" in "coffee shop". That is what made their brand since 1972 in Seattle. They are now "Starbucks Drive-up". So they can join the demise of the rest of the fast food industry.
Yeah but wfh has been happening since mid 2020 - their sales and earnings were still going up year over year. It's that the consumer is really tapped out with such a huge increase in cost of living.
@@vmoses1979 Yeah, they made $9 billion in profits last quarter I heard, but when money is tight for customers, the luxury latte spending is first to go. It's almost a cliche now - to cut back on Sbux to save.
Drinking coffee is traditionally not meant to make people morbidly obese! I think Sturbucks has completely forgotten about why coffee is actually consumed!😂😂😂
In the WSJ, profit was down 9%. Starbucks' response was: We will just replace lost American consumers with new Chinese consumers. But the Chinese consumer is frugal and makes much less than Americans.
Also, tea in China is.. it's almost free with a meal. Coffee was almost free in the U.S. as well even up to the 80s. I can't see HOW they will possibly gain traction there.

I was a Starbucks fan for over a decade. It's ridiculous to pay $6.00 for coffee served in a nasty inconsistent environment. The wait time is ridiculous. Their coffee is burnt and nasty tasting. I stopped going because I'm tired of being guilted to pay tips on everything. I stopped going when it became expected.

In addition, I rare now go to Starbucks. It way overpriced. I get the same $2.75 coffee for 50 cents at home and I save gas money as well.

I foresee a recession lasting 2-3 years, and if inflation continues to surge, the Federal Reserve will likely raise interest rates soon. Starbucks success was based on the store itself. You went there to relax, to study, or even work if you were remote. You would go there to talk to a friend. Then they became cocky, thinking their success was mostly on how amazing their coffee, which is not just coffee after all.

Then they changed their focus and no one was hanging out anymore. They remodeled in a way that discouraged that social aspect and defeated the coffee house as a hub for friends. I didn't go there because I loved their coffee.
So true!
I think that process started around 07 or 08 and that was the beginning of their fall. They also stopped allowing people to smoke outside on the patio. That hurt them as well. Consumers are sick of corporate inflation and greed, it's not necessarily representative of the economy as a whole.
The economy as a whole is awful.

They always short the ingredients and foam up the rest of the drink , they're inconsistent in quality and quantity. We stopped going

Duh.

Go to a local coffee shop which is nicer and friendlier imo.
Can confirm McDonald's is the same in Japan, not the busy city stores so much but the local and suburban ones. It takes forever to get someone to serve you because they are busy dealing with the delivery staff, drive-thru and online orders. I actually pulled out my phone, downloaded their app and registered an account and was almost ready to send in my order when I finally got some service
@@istvanpraha Carl Marx foretold this in his second book, Das Kapital. That capitalism is in the end a reworking of feudalism in that you merely get to choose your master. Unless you go into business yourself and escape the mass of (ex) peasant workers, you will never really win.

This is why they are losing money, this video is disingenuous...on purpose
Yep and guess what? KFC CLOSED DOWN in Malaysia . Voting with money is painful to these corporations
I was going to watch to see if he mentioned this in the video... you just saved me 12 minutes!
You nailed it! 😘
I could care less about who Starbucks supports in the war. I stopped going because Biden killed the economy and I’m saving my money.
There is a Starbucks near my house. I run early in the morning and the last 3 months have noticed there are far less cars in the drive through in the mornings.
Same, business at my local starbucks has clearly plummeted.
That is the data on the street the TV never covers.
A starbucks near your house? Now i know where you live. lol
@@cybervigilante I dont think they care about you that much employees dont benefit from making you buy a tall instead of a small
As it should be.
I noticed this too. Their new motto must be, "Here's your overpriced mud, gimme the money and get the f*ck outta here... NOW! ... I said beat it! No bathroom! Leave!" 🤣🤣🤣
Who wants to pay $5 for a mediocre cup of coffee??? Nobody
5 bucks for a mediocre cup of BLACK PLAIN cofee. You can make like 100 cups from a bag of pretty decent storebought grounds.
$5? Those are 2022 prices.
@@mrdiggie3321 I should go more often. 😂😂
Try $8.
I bet you can find a local roaster who sells a bag of coffee beans for $12. You will get a lot more coffee, that taste way better while supporting a local business.
$38 for a breakfast burrito and two grilled cheese kids meals in a shitty part of La…. Will never eat out again.
Good! Save your money. These are rip-offs.
Stop voting for the people who are causing this.
What I do is have them make the food and when I get the the bill, I tell them " nevermind " lol
When they ask why I'm refusing to pay, I reply I can't afford $50 for 2 cheeseburgers and walkout.
I like Costa Rica coffee. Costa Ricans have some of the longest lifespans on the planet, and drink Tons of coffee. Maybe it's their coffee 🤪
I really don't understand why people would spend that
much money for a cup of coffee. It's beyond me!!
So many countries are boycotting Starbucks and that's why their stock is going down ..
That's part of it. But their sky high prices are likely a big part of it too.
And you still won't get a big discount on the house you're looking for lol
Nice
@@Jake-nq5fb elastic vs inelastic good
Here is the thing, those are not expensive shoes.
The recession started when Biden printed all that money in 2020 and bailed out giant banks in silicon valley in 2021. It's just now catching up to us.
I was an avid Starbucks customer but I stopped going because...
1) the staff literally were falling over themselves to get a tip out of me because one time i gave a nice tip, it was way too much pressure to tip
2) i have a fairly easy order but the inconsistency in what I would receive honestly would ruin my day because I would look forward to my morning coffee to get me through the work day, if it was wrong, I would have a bad day
3) wait times, again i had a pretty easy order but sometimes I'd wait 20 minutes for it to be ready, very hard to do when you are heading to work and need to be on time
4) i often would get a toasted sandwich and would always ask for it to be cut in half so the ingredients wouldn't fall all over my lap when eating...
If the employee would had told me that company policy is not to cut the sandwich in half I would had walk away and let them eat it
What you're saying is something I think aligns with how I've been handling my businesses and sales in-general.
I refuse to give my money to any large corporation! That's the only way to stop them!
I can barely justify buying a beer at this point
They have a delicious michelada at the bar by my house. 7 bucks. No thanks.
I quit drinking years ago. Best decision ever
I went to box wine myself.
@@movingonwardcoughing coffee and beer alike are too expensive nowadays. Not worth it.
I made coffee this morning with a k cup that cost .31¢
Me too!
did you deprive the Starbucks' CEO of money ?
For higher quality and even lower price, roast your coffee!
yaaaay ! --- nice going ..!
Paying $2 for a cup of coffee is throwing money away.
When you make $15 hr and coffee cost $5 then the math adds up - Brew your own.
A cup of coffee shouldn't cost more than $1.
Starbucks is also particularly affected by their political stance in the Palestine/ Israel conflict.
There is a reason why corporations are supposed to be "neutral".
Yeah, a barista whispered "Palestine" when I said their stock dropped 16% in one day recently.
They were also WOKE remember??
They don't have a political stance on Israel/Palestine. Their union made a post on Twitter supporting Palestine, and Starbucks sued the union because they don't want their brand used to promote any political position.
@@_Kittensworth Yeah, that worked out well. Now, they have a nationwide Political boycott. People in management who were paid to think, Didn't.
I invest that money 😂 my money makes money every day. I almost always brought my lunch to work and worked while I ate lunch, making more money.
Yeah but wfh has been happening since mid 2020 - their sales and earnings were still going up year over year. It's that the consumer is really tapped out with such a huge increase in cost of living.

Surprise surprise. When people have no money, they buy less stuff... economy slows. You'd think maybe someone would see that coming.
Yep the Chinese are not gonna be buying that crappy coffee..besides they are more tea drinkers anyways.
Also, tea in China is.. it's almost free with a meal. Coffee was almost free in the U.S. as well even up to the 80s. I can't see HOW they will possibly gain traction there.
Is it recession or just that people are finally realizing it’s dumb to pay that much for coffee?
