Dude, not hateful but loving, your making a video to upload to the world so we have access to mind blowing technologies. Type in, "how does a relay work" your obviously bright enough to understand and I've heard you say "I don't know" here and that's most folks obstacle. Impossible to learn something when you already know it.
Thanks man I was going to do same. You never know what knowing something simple as how those relays actually work could be the difference of you burning up your whole truck. Talk bout me I've done it so . Yeah 😅
To be your first video brother, you did an outstanding job. So guess what... I'm going to try this myself tonight. And if works... well I'll let ya know.
Just making sure, to have the low beams turn on and stay on with the highbeams all i have to do i mount the lowbeam ground wire to the frame? Also this video is super cool and helpful thank you!
Realy anywhere i hooked mine just below the headlight to a frame bolt. The hold vehicle is a ground just make sure you clean the area alil bit for the best connection. An thank you
I’m not sure but I think you want pin 87-going to your head lights. Unless u using same li e 85 to jump star a relay. 85-supposed to be regular 12volts acc. 87 supposed to le higher current flow. But if it works it works.
My drls didn’t come on and I wired it to my 10 amp fuse and they came on. I also wired to my fog lights & they worked. I tried turning them off but they stayed on. Should I add a toggle switch to power it on & off?
I would if they aren't turning off with the system. Also I've found the little sensor on the dash for the drls has been an issue to. I've cut mine out all together. But I've got a few friends that have just fixed it an ran the modded set-up.
@@MrMaddparkison I’ve thought about it for the longest bc mine have an electrical issue with the lights. The headlamp relay is good but the fuses weren’t getting fire that’s what made me try it
Just to clearafy.........So the wires you put on the fuse box is just to keep you fog lights on with your high beams and keep the drls on right.......and for the low beams to stay on with your high beams you have to cut the ground wire and ground it to the chassis no matter what there's no other way?? Or can you just put a wire on the relay on the ground side and ground it???
If you donthe same thing only using diodes you wont get back flow power into the lights meaning you may have grounding issues or the other lights come a little bit if you switch to the low or for lights. The diodes an in4004 diode for this. Will only allow the current to run one way. Whenever bridging 2 circuits you should have some sort of resistor, diode or relay to make sure you aren't risking flow the wrong way. That's how you will blow fuses or worse
So just cut the ground wires running to the lows and highs and ground them to the frame? Lows will stay on with the highs and lows can be on by themselves when you just want lows?
I have a 2002 Chevy Burban and when I grounded my passenger side low to the frame, I lost the low for the passenger side but the truck worked for my driver side Hi/Low stay on together. Which is so weird, What do I need to do to fix this issue ? Bottom line, Passenger low doesn't work but high works, driver side both hi and low work.
I would check fuses an see if it has a separate fuse for driver an pass side. But it should have worked asking an you got the ground. Did the bulb blow
I try this on a 04 Tahoe it will not work grounding out the low beams to the frame and they sill went off when I hit the high beams put I did hook up the day time lights to come on with the fog light that does works good
hello i have a 04 tahoe i cut the ground wire on the passer side hook it up to a ground wire going to the parking lights ground did not work when i put the high beams on going to try to hook up to the frame nice video i going to wire it so my day time lights stay on
Did exactly like you did but on my 2000 chevy tahoe... Running lights only come on with the truck off key turned... But as soon as I start it they turn off
Im not sure whats different in the wiring but another guy had the same issue but he also had a 2003 tahoe an it works. I wouldn't think the wiring changed that much from 99 2000 to 2002 2003+. Ive been looking into the big difference but im not seeing anything from the trucks ive been working with.
I put leds on low beams and it worked only a day and they are not working . I put the original bulbs and still doesn’t work . I can’t figure out the problem
@@MrMaddparkison hey bro so I did the same thing you did I have LEDs for light bulbs and mine when they're on they flicker on and off after they're on for about 5 to 10 minutes is that what you're talking about you have to ground the actual light to the frame?
Yes ground to the frame. My 08 i habe now was flickering to it stopped it on mine. An on the 02 burban i also grounded the low beam to the frame just behind the headlight.
Javier Chavez not using the relays to keep them on. But you can ground the fogs to the chassi an use the botton but you would need to turn them on every time. I've seen some ppl that used a controller box but the rewire is fing insane but to each there own I guess
@@MrMaddparkison so you're saying that if I ground the fogs also like the low beam that will work for fogs staying on with highs and being able to control fogs by button?
Yes but i didnt find that until somekne had emailed me the schematic for it. Cuz i guess thats what he was using. This way worked well for me but ive seen the diode an relay setup as well. At the time this seemed a good setup lol.
william wood they are still working perfect. An we've had the same bulbs in Denver the video. Before we was going through bulbs every 3 months, we always have the lights on day an night. But yes fogs work
It sounds like it might be positive switched. I've seen a few now where instead of the switch working the negative it work the pos. Look where you hi beam neg goes an see if it grounds to the body or if it runs back to the cab. My first pos switch was last year I think. An it freaked me out. It took me hours to find the 1 wire that melted after that I put it all back an left it be. There's a guy on RUclips that shows how to make the pos switch work but I wasn't trying. Old truck wiring an altering how they flow. Nope I was done now I check very close to make sure it neg switched
I don't get it. What switch? I ended up just running wire from the relay to my dashboard where I mounted an aftermarket headlight switch because it was a fast fix and I haven't had time to go through this thing I also lost use of my towing button when this happened by the way
You hooks the negative to the frame. Did you test the wires to see witch line feeds the light. I hit Tahoe that had 2 grounds one was a loop to the otheres it took me a few to figure it out but i haven't seen another one since
Test the wire from the low beam an fogs see if one turns off with the switch then see if it pos or a ground. You might have one assembled in Mexico i found theres 2 plant one does part an one build iguess. Dude at the dealership was telling some are switch pos an some was neg.
No i dont run with the highs on all the time im not a dick. But areas i run for work at night are to dark an full of deers an other animals that will run out. Plus on the trails its a perfect set up to run

You have to leave the factory ground intact strip the rubber off the ground and add a wire to it and ground that wire

Not to sure of the wire size it was just a piece I had laying around an a 07 im not sure. But I would use a multi meter first
