He should think it, and then say it after the solve. However, the fact that he spoke during the solve made it more comfortable to get the resolve. When judges don't call "8" it puts me off so much, because I start wondering how much time I have left.
@@J.J.J.J.J.J.J When the judge doesn't call "8 seconds" or "12 seconds", call for an extra if it affects you... seriously, it's a rule. I'm not super fast, so don't call it on my judge all the time, but I have before.
@@danhascubes I did that once when the judge did it multiple times in a row. He ended up making more mistakes in later solves. I could have called for 3 resolves, but I'm also not super fast, so a bit self conscious about it. Now, I ask judges at the start to call 8 and 12 loudly just to remind them and it's been helpful so far.
At my most recent competition, they had a mock attempt as a judging tutorial. I think that's the best way to make sure new competitors know what they're doing.
my judge lifted the cover even tho i wasnt ready and he skipped straight to 12 seconds and i was at like 5 or 6 secs, he then dnfed my solve because he thought that "i was cheating" i called the delegate and he no longer was a judge i also got an extra
I appreciate the way you made this video. I feel a lot of the "worst judge ever" videos are made souly to laugh at some kid that obviously just didn't know better, but this actually outlines what not to do, and makes no attempt to identify the judge or make mean comments after the fact. Great vid 👍
Mine didn't let my sign the score card twice in a row, and when I got him, I forgot as well lol The other one also just lifted my cover as soon as he grabbed the stopwatch
i start to think there should be minimum age, or minimum completed solves, or minimum competitions competed in to be a judge. Also i think it'll be a good idea for organizers to provide one "competition simulation" table in the corner so new competitors and **new judges** can practice how to compete and judge correctly
Nah, i dont agree. The competition is for fun, not too practice being a perfect judge. Just dont judge if you didnt watch a tutorial. They already have new competitor tutorials and stuff.
One time i mightve gotten a +2 in 2x2 (a layer was turned 45 degrees) but the judge turned the cube so that it wouldnt be a +2. I didnt make 2nd round anyways.
At least he said something because a few comps ago my judge didn't count the inspection time. and I didn't realize it weeks after the comp. inspection time end up being 45
At my second comp I was at 3x3 semifinal and my judge started to TALK TO ME during the solve! Now I know I should ask for an extra solve or a new judge, but in that moment I didn't knew about that. (In that solve I did 21 and I average 14)
I was terrified I was the judge since I had been similar in a comp but I realized 1. This video was a year ago, and my first comp was about 5 months ago 2. I’ve never competed or judged for megaminx before
at my last comp my judge got up to strech after 30 seconds of my 6x6 solve. also I saw someone else practicing OH while judging(yes they did use the table).
When I went to a comp and judged, I liked to tell ppl "break a leg!" before their solve. But THEN one of the times I said it by mistake during inspection. I apologized a whole bunch after they were done with their solve.
I mean it happens, that you forget to tell the competitor 8 and 12 seconds, but that's something you tell them after they finished the solve, not during the solve
I guess the kid was just trying to make up for it. But they probably learnt their lesson. If you ever judge, tell them after the solve if you really need to tell them that. Good job to the kid for telling you and owning up, maybe now he'll know when to say if they mess up.
I actually did this many times at my first comp when I was just starting out- Those were embarrassing moments- Don’t worry they dont go over 15 Most of the time when I did judge back then- They only had like 8 or 10 seconds of inspection- Sooo- it was no biggy but at least I learned to not do that 😂😂
At a competition, the judge times your inspection as you're not allowed to look at the puzzle for more than 15 seconds. The judge is supposed to say "8 seconds" when 8 seconds have elapsed, and 12 at 12. This judge didn't say 8 or 12 and decided to explain that to me during my solve, which was quite distracting.
💀 at my last comp my judge started turning my own warmup cube during my solve
💀
Brutal. It's bad enough when they start solving their own cubes.
same! Mine asked me during my solve if I wanted to trade my valk for a $7 cube.

Maybe but that was not the time lol
