Update project Škoda Rapid

- Škoda Rapid Coupe 1984 (called Garde in Czechoslovakia.) The brakes are all redone now. In the next moth the Škoda will go to the inspection. Hopefully is passes MOT and will be road legal, so the adventures of the Skoda Rapid Coupe will start in the spring of 2022!

Thank you so much for the credits. ☺️ it’s even better now. Got a new rear bumper and new original tail lights. Cleaned in the trunk and between the doors, trip counter is repaired, few new dash trims etc. I’ll do an update on the car any time soon.
My congratulations - beautiful car 👍 I remember the time when those cars were currently offered in showrooms in Holland. I was in your country in 1987 and visited Skoda dealer there. I even took one prospect and then after years unfortunately I threw it away. Today it would be a great souvenir from those times. Today I have Rapid too, however totally different and much younger than yours 😄But yours is much better.
Thanks for your comment! Cool you’ve seen them back in the days at the Škoda dealer. Do you remember the name of the dealer? My aunt bought one like this model ‘84 in red with Škoda sunroof. I was 4 years when she picked it up new at the local dealer. I was there and I remember every little detail. Where are you from? Too bad you threw away the brochure. If you want one, I’ll be happy to send you one. What year is your Rapid? In fact mine is a Garde but already called Rapid in the western countries.
@@MrSkoda105s No, unfortunately I don't remember the dealer's name. It seems to me, it was maybe in Groningen, but after so many years I can't remind it now. Thank you very much for your offer of sending the folder however it would be hard for me to deprive you of such a "treasure" 😃 I am from Poland and my Rapid is a modern one from 2018, so it's not as interesting as yours.

Good job! A really nice car, I like that thin strip on the side (Coupe), and the black front spoiler. In case of the spoiler, I think that it was not a standard part (in Czechoslovakia) but an optional or extra equipment. It definitely looks better with it :)
And good luck with the new tail lights, they seem to be quite rare and relatively expensive.

Hi Tomáš! Thanks! Really happy with this coupe. Think the spoiler is really cool too. The side striping coupe is was of my favorites. Is says ‘80’s all over because of the matrix design. This original Dutch striping is still very popular. About the tail lights, I know. It’s absurd. But luckily I already have new original Made in Czechoslovakia tail lights. 😃🤑 Can’t wait to fit them. Rapid deserves to look like new. Hope you are all right. Hopefully we’ll meet up one day. Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄

I prefer the look of that Rapid (Garde) over Rapid ("M" model). The older one is better. But when I take a look on your cars, I think that you need something like 120 GLS or LS (with 4 round headlights) to complet your colection :D

@@tomasfrkal6362 hahah! Yes that was a fairly exciting race. Proud of our national hero Max! 🏆 🏎 🏁 his fans followed him to Abu Dhabi, I however was at home for te television 😉 In many cases a mk 1 model is nicer. In my opinion that goes for the Estelle too. As much as I love the model M nothing compares to the pureness of užovka. Haven’t you seen the video of my beige 1977 120 LS? It’s already in my collection. A 120 GLS however is still missing. Think the collection also needs a S100/S110. Glad to hear you are doing all right. Holland is in lockdown again. Hope 2022 will be a better year. I’ll wave next time when I’m in the Czech Republic so we can grap a pivo.
@@MrSkoda105s Abu Dhabi was a heart attack race :D I almost lost my hope after Checo did his brilliant defensive job, but it looked like that there is no chance for Max to grab a win.
I also prefer užovka, my favorite is GLS after slight facelift, I think around 1981. Maybe I forget about your LS, how is that possible? :D
S100/110, then 110 R, then 1000MB...neverending story :D
Our new government refused the lockdown...let´s look forward to 2022, it must be better :)
@@tomasfrkal6362 Cool you’ve watched the F1 too. Uzovka GLS is super rare. You mean the one with the first type ‘plastic’ bumpers like on my Garde. My 120 LS ‘77 is one of the first. Also super rare these days. I have a 1100 MB so maybe something from the S 100 series. There are so many nice old Škoda’s, only if I had more space and more time 😉 hope 2022 will be better too but for now we are still in a lockdown. But when it’s possible I’ll visit CZ again 😃
Another great Rapid. Are their many old rear engine Skoda's still around in Holland? Here in England, they have all but disappeared unfortunately
Hello Julian, thank you! No sadly there aren't many left in Holland either. From this first type Rapid (Garde) I know there are only 3 left in Holland. Probably a few more in an old barn, but that I don't know of. Last week a Dutch Rapid 130 was offered on Marketplace. Think it was sold very fast. Not sure if it stays in Holland or goes back tot CZ. Most of the Rapids who are offered for sale go straight back to CZ.
