my friend visited Beijing last year and got me 2 copies of Pan Yu-Liang quan ji, her oil paintings. They are wonderful. Good quality of prints. I really love them.
omg i never heard of her oil painting ?! i remember my mom had a book about her but it was only text so i didnt want to read it as a child 😭i have to get a copy too!! thank you so much for sharing this with me 💗
After all those polished art pieces (especially ai generated) it is quite hard to adjust viewing to such rough brush strokes. Still I adore portrait at the right side (3:07) Thank you for sharing btw
oh i can imgaine! these paintings are nothing polished or smoothed over xD it's the complete opposite, their texture is rough and coarse. and yes that painting is beautiful!
true, this type of painting is actually considered unsightly or *annoying* among somg young artists in china, because hundreds of thousands of them had to paint the same subject matter in the same manner for 3 or 4 years to train for the exam. must be very exhausting to look at it afterwards.
Wow very interesting😮

It's amazing to me how much interest is focused on Art for students in your country. I wish it was that way for us here in the states.
the competition has always been intense, and we always had a sense of urgency 😅 not sure if that's a good thing though, in the long run 🤔
Oh I love the idea for videos of going thru these with you 😍😍 sounds like fun 🎉

These books feel formulaic and devoid of individual expression. It makes sense that their art exams are administered by soldiers.
