Wow, you're right this is a rare version, probably only US got that. No 2 door in other parts of the world, according to my internet knowledge, with that motor and drivetrain setup. Drivetrain is the strongest combination for 1st Gen Trooper; 10-bolt front axle, 12-bolt rear axle with disc brake and MUA5C tranny. Since you guys in US get 2.8L GM motor, maybe this 4ZE1 2.6L is not so desireable. We, outside of US, prefer the 2.8L Turbo Diesel that came with the same drivetrain. I've seen many of you guys in US swap the 2.6L's EFI with Weber Carb for more easy maintenance and parts. Well, goodluck with your project. Love to see the updates.
Thank you very much. I’d love to score a diesel model…perfect power plant for the truck. The 2.6 is pretty solid and I actually prefer it to the GM 2.8. These are well built trucks and are a blast to off-road with.
This summer I was given a two door, Shorty with 175,000 miles on it all original, but I think the engine may be seized. I’m gonna start work on it next summer. This was a vehicle that was specifically given to me to restore by the original owner I don’t know much about them. My dad had one in Australia called jackaroo four-door which my wife and I drive around Australia. Not sure if I want to keep it or sell it
Thanks for your comment I have a friend that has a machine shop I’m gonna take the motor out and give it to him and see what can be done with it before I make too many decisions
I'm currently browsing the internet knowing more about this car. And I ended up here in your channel. I have a project car. And guess what? Its a 3-door 1988 Isuzu Trooper. I heard it's rare bec of its limited production.
Stoked you found such an awesome survivor! Can't wait to follow along with your restore. Just some positive criticism, the shaky camera was a little distracting. But you still did a wonderful job with this introduction to such a cool cool rig. I've had a handful of Troopers through the years. And very excited to see some quality content like what you got Goin on here. 🤙🏼 keep it up!
I have a 1988 T2 4 door and will be looking forward to all of your videos! Thanks for doing this!
Heck yeah! I can’t wait to clean her up a little more. These trucks are sweet.

In colombia We have the 2.6 Isuzu engine 5 speed transmission all wheel disc brakes, that’s for the 1991 version, they are very strong and reliable

Probably deserves to be brought back to life. These engines can’t be too too hard to source.

Can I request a clearer picture of the 4WD shifter lever? Ours has no markings anymore. 😅 I would love to see the markings on it. Thanks
I've heard the same thing about them being rare...and congrats for having such an awesome truck.
@@princessjoyastudillo4221 I'll make sure to take some up close shots of it when I make the interior restoration video.
Looking foward for ur vid....

Does the engine bay can fit another battery? As for aircon rooftop ac is it recommended
Looking forward to these.... Kinda taught about getting a vehicross but decided on a commander instead
I love me some Vehicross…and boy are those Commanders sweet.
I have a 1991 isuzu rodeo 5 speed manual and 180k miles runs so good may sell it in the future
Those things are a blast!
Just bought a 1988 4 door 4cyl manual with 120k on it.
Not a 2 door but I'm not complaining
Nice score! That thing is barely broken in.
