- What's this? Have UK Barn Finds gone all 'urbex'? Have Elton and Claire really decided to become urban explorers?
No, but we were invited to witness a field-find collection of classic cars that were saved from going to the scrapyard many, many years ago. How could we say no?
What a privilege it was to see these cars and to simply appreciate the fact that they still existed and hadn't become bean cans. Could some of them be saved and restored? Are they useful as parts cars? Please let us know what you think.
Of course, nothing is as straight forward as it first seems in our lives and Elton drops a bit of a bombshell on Claire. We need your help now....

A field of memories and dreams. As an old Ford mechanic, I worked on these cars. The Transit Van caught my eye. Given the chance, I bet I could get it to Start. The 2.5 diesel engine was bullet proof. Thanks for the Memories Guy's. Made an old man's day. Big Thumb's up.
Thank you so much Philip for watching and your lovely comment; much appreciated 😄
The predecessor the 'York' 2.4 was a pig to start, worked on many in the late 70's/early 80's, there was even an earlier Perkins Transit on the fleet still
@@UKBarnFinds Thank you for the Wonderful content. I do watch but don't always comment. Ps, The Fiesta caught my eye too.
@@nickb5391 Spot on. I remember guy's fitting truck batteries to spin them over faster to start them. The 2.5 was a dream. The fact the push rod's bent saving further damage when the belt let go. Genius. Memories.
Totally agree non turbo meant reliability the banana always ran on anything veg oil etc then they went for 2.0 hdi Peugeot derived motor no where near as good. 😊
I wish my mrs was into cars , I’d actually have something to talk to her about 😂
That was absolutely brilliant I absolutely love your wife's enthusiasm
Her constant silly laughing grates after a while.
@@randomeddy I'm guessing your whining would have the same effect.😐
She reminds me of female holy from red dwarf.
That early model Renault 4 is definitely worth saving. They're fun to drive too.
@3.45, vacuum guage which I think would run off the inlet manifold & the more you put your foot down the economy goes down via the vacuum drawn
Correct... Saves me writing it🙂
Optimal length for videos is apparently 30 mins so bear in mind for longer ones you may want to break them up with sneak previews at the end of each. Scirocco looks the best of this bunch, amazingly having been saved by the undergrowth which has acted as an umbrella!
Saab turbo is the best car in there. Fabulous cars and you will never find a car with more comfortable seats than a Saab.
Definitely a field of dreams and memories. Just amazing how they've stood the test of time and the elements. It's amazing how nature reclaims its domain. What a fantastic field find(s).
Unbelievable the vehicle's there....
Well done Claire, and you too, Elton.... looks as though you found the one you were looking for, right at the end...
Such a nice day as well...🙏👍😊🇳🇿
Incredible place. I'm amazed at how good condition many of the interiors are.
Our thoughts exactly, particularly the Saab 99!thank you so much for commenting and watching; much appreciated
Good afternoon Elton and Claire I love watching your videos of you and your adventures hunting for old and barn finds I hope you are all well and enjoying your adventures in your finding old vehicles please keep it up with your videos of you and your tube channel
I remember the days when every other garden looked just like this! There's a garage with a field chock full of Retro Cars, Buses, Trucks and Campers near Tunstal on the East Coast! Look it up he's an old guy and everything has a reasonable price tag!!!👍
Cool. Usually, we get told about places like that but with the line “the bloke won’t sell anything, though” added on the end. Nice to hear of one that’s a bit different.
Another brilliant video, thanks guys! It does make me a little sad that these cars were once someone's pride n joy. If only they could talk, it'd be wonderful to hear their stories. Can't wait to see more of this collection! Claire, I do hope you're feeling better now 🙂
Well done Claire fire braving the Cob 🕸s
Well done Elton braving all those spikie bushes.
Thankfully the owners let you Video the yard. Can't wait to see those old classics removed from there resting spots.
Renault 4 is F reg - 1967/68. E was Jan to July 1967, F from August 1st 1967 t0 July 31st 1968.
Just loved this, I will never stop searching!
Well done, folks, love the concept - clean up the property, get something [£££] at auction, and useful bits are saved. Great stuff. I hope Elton finds his dream car. Special thanks to Claire for the many hours of editing, always great content, and I miss you two while waiting for the next one.
Wow! Those are great cars! Thanks for taking us along on this adventure. You both put a smile on my face. Looking forward to watching the removal of them. Cheers
Fantastic content many thanks for taking us along
I knew when I saw the front light of the hidden car, how sad am I ?Even the moggy is savable.
Claire go ahead and say Oh Jesus he doesn't exist.
Brilliant Claire and Elton enjoyable video guys
Brilliant video. I look forward to seeing these cars at ACA.
What a load of beautiful cars I would love to have a project car from there
It’s really really impressive, but also a little sad to see all these old cars being slowly eaten away by vegetation, I like the MG B, the Saab and this Reliant Scimiticar, and if I had to save one it would probably be this Renault 4L (maybe because I am French and I like the cars of my country) 😁🤩👍
Great video Elton and Claire, looking forwards to the next instalment. Especially seeing the SD1 Rover when it emerges from the undergrowth 🙂
That was immense guys, another bush, oh that’s another car 😮 looking forward to more instalments!!
What a brilliant video, thanks for sharing all these wonderful cars with us
Cracking video guys , definitely some good parts to be saved . Some definite restoration projects too.👍
Air conditioning on the old 900 turbo was a very rare factory option, especially on an 8 valve that early. The reg plate seems to be 'C' plate, but it's actually much earlier. The latest it could possibly be is 'Y' reg.
Loved that! And the banter was great.
Thank you. The follow up video was a bit shorter, but hopefully just as enjoyable.
Fantastic find , hopefully a lot of them will be saved , I love my 1975 BMW E3 and my 1976 Granada Mk 1 3 litre GXL
Nice cars you have there 😍
Just subscribed, omg shocking all those classics left to rot such a shame .
That’s a natural reaction, but they were saved from going to the scrap man. You need to be ‘glass half full’ with finds like this 😃
Now you're talking..this is heaven for me ..I'm a Capri man at heart and anything Ford tbh especially any Cortina.. Escorts too
An absolute gold mine of a video. Love it. All the MGBs tick my boxes but the little Renault 4 is a charmer. I once got a lift back from a concert in the early 80s in a Renault 4. There should have been 2 people with cars picking us up but in the event only the Renault 4 turned up. Nine of us in it. I wonder how we all fit ( I was one of those in the boot) 😀
The things we got away with in the past 😂
@@UKBarnFinds Exactly. Imagine trying to do that now.
Great finds I love the saabs and scirocco at the end does look very intact vw nut so.
Wow . . Id say under every overgrown bush youl find a car . .
Those Scirocco's were an awesome car . . The convertables had real glass rear screens , often theyr clear plastic or vinyl . I used to work for Ray Powells . . Audi vw and MAN trucks when i worked there in 79 in Tottenham Hale oposite the old Gestetner factory . .
All gone now . . I ran the forcourt there and met Suzi Quatro , she called in for gas lol
VWs were the mainstay .
Polos . Jettas . Golfs etc
Looking forward to the next one . Till then take care .
Bye from NZ💐🍻👍🇳🇿twa
Im taking a stab . I think youl find 25 -30 cars maybe more . 👋
Some nice donor cars in there! Amazing how good that Saab's interior was considering the window was open!
Yet some cars that were 'sealed' had brambles inside them. So bizarre!
Changing a Saab 99 clutch is a 20 minute job, did an engine change in a lunch hour with some fellow Saab technicians in the 80s, great car.
The Hillman Imp and Singer Chamois both shared the same bodyshell. The Chamois had nicer seats, better trim and a unique front grill.
Thank you. We pick up so many helpful snippets from comments like this.
@@UKBarnFinds You're welcome. I was in the motor trade during the 70's so I remember many of them. Exciting times they were.
That Renault 4 reminded me of those Citroën 2CV cars .. My aunt had a Saab and I remember the ignition key switch was between the front seats in the center console ..Thanks for sharing !
😇❤
would love to see more vids like this! where you go to see them providing the owners are happy
Wow - " Rover 200BRMs - there were only 795 built for the UK market and estimated to be only about 70 left. Just love the red leather interior!
Of all the brilliant stuff you've shared so far, this might be the best one yet. Very interesting stuff, Thanks.
Thank you 🙏🏻 This has been such fun to work on, too, on so many levels.
Awesome video, i love seeing stuff like this! That looked like some tough terrain to negotiate as well so hats off to you both. Will be looking forward to seeing the next instalments..
Singer Chamois had 4 headlights and was a fastback or sloping back. The Imp was more boxy.
The two of you really made this video so enjoyable to watch!
Subscribed!
Thank you so much. That’s made our day 😃
@@UKBarnFinds you are welcome!
A very enjoyable hour and a bit! Thank you.
You can see the quality of the Saabs even in the scrappy. I've never owned a classic Saab, only a 9-5 (maybe they are now😕) Regretted selling but., had to. I do like the R4s, more so than a 2CV. You guys were very lucky to get access to such a nice find. Looking forward to the next one 👍.
Agreed 👍 I’m still blown away by how good the interior looks in the 99! Thank you so much for watching and commenting 🙏
@@UKBarnFinds 👍 I used to LOVE sifting through scrappys back in the day looking for a part when you could but insurance/health and safety put paid to that 😕 . .....Maybe you two could need insurance even more where them cars are 😁.
The MG at 56:12 where Claire says "not much left of this one" is possibly one of the most solid Leyland/BMC cars in the video!
Possibly, but there’s not a great deal left of it. If it is solid, though, it will be a great prospect for a restoration.
G'day to you good folks! it heart breaking to see those MG's in that condition, and the Blue Morris Van,thanks for that ! Perth West Aust.!
Great entertaining video, cool finds, scirocco needs saving.
Excellent. I've had several MK1 and 2 escorts. Should have kept them .
Great to see and like you say, it's nice that they're all still here. Look forward to seeing what turns up at ACA and is that a Suzuki Swift at the end? :)
Well done Claire
Just found your channel and watched this video and I just can't believe how good a condition some of these beauties are still in! Really excited to see the next video now! Would love to be able to unearth long forgotten cars like you guys are doing...
@52.13, looks like a Triumph 1300 FWD or it maybe a Triumph 2000 MK1
Hi from Sweden. Yes, it's an Escort mk1 1300 Sport. Probably a 73-74. This can be seen, among other things, on the instrument panel, which is a six gauge panel.
Wow wow can’t wait until the next one, good on ya pls pls save them 👍
Can't save them all. It's like getting a cat or a dog from a rescue place, you have to choose one and leave the rest.
Hiya Elton and Claire, I couldn't believe how many cars were in this field, I liked Volkswagen Scirocco, some of the cars really took me back to the middle to late 1980s, cant wait for the next upload, this is Choppy in Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
Great video 😊
Thank you so much for watching; much appreciated 😃
All SAAB 99s came with the additional Eco gauge on the dashboard as factory fitted standard,, and the Rover SD1, wow wow wow.
That Ford Escort Mk1 Sport had 2 very famous owners. Wilfred Bramble & John Nettles.😀
😂
@CB-xr1eg
that really is ironic, that the Escort was owned by Wilfred Bramble (Steptoe & Son & John Nettles found in the nettles 😃
That Rover 200 BRM needs saving.
Practical Classics magazine did a regular feature called 'Rust in Peace'.
I find it fascinating how nature consumes and overwhelms man made objects if they're unused.
Great video as always both.
Nature is so amazing. I love seeing how the sea does the same thing.
Honestly, this could be a new game show! You could call it "Guess That Motor" and just uncover a wheel or partial headlight at first with maximum points given for id'ing it from that and points reducing each time you have to strim lumps of brambles off before someone guesses correctly. Winner gets to choose which "project" they would like to take home and the others all get a hubcap or door handle for participating. Could be the next big thing, guys....!! 😂
It scares me a bit to admit how many of the ones in hedges that I picked up from an exposed indicator, tail lamp, bumper edge or piece of trim. One of the Triumphs was a '74 or later Toledo as it looked to have the reversing lamp incorporated into the tail light and that wee Triumph 1300 - the Toledo's father - is a rarity in itself, being that few were sold (they were not produced for very long) and they were a front wheel drive with the engine mounted longitudinally. The Escort could well be a Sport in that the dash is definitely set up for the 6-dial binnacle. Hard to say if it is the genuine shell without seeing the front wings or the tags or the strengthening bars though. My favourite so far would have to be the little Scirocco though. Man, that looks marvellous!
Great walk-around, people. Thoroughly enjoyable and the excitement is infectious! Looking forward to the next installment. All the best
A new game show, get Henry Cole on it...oh wait🤔 Maybe not...
Great content nice little 1275 wishing you well Clare looking forward to the next blog
Thank you Trevor 🙏 we have a new episode out this coming Friday night 😃
I didn't know that these beautiful vehicles do excists.
Morris van must be an early model with the headlight body shape across the wings, at least a top job for a chassis swap, the red Saab is tidy and lots of parts to soup it up from the turbo 😳
Gosh Elton, you know how to give a girl a good time a couple cans and sandwiches ;) I like the look of the blue, white and black MGB GT's from the drone shot!
Hello great VID car looked like triumph dolimite
Saab dial on the dash is a vacuum gauge, to economise on fuel useage
Nice little Renault4, very rare now
The singer chamois originally was the same shape as the imp but was advertised as a luxury version with wooden panels inside later models were fastback and twin headlights called the stillito the reason I know this is I worked for a rootes dealership in Snape in 1967, brilliant channel you have very interesting keep up the good work
the Saab engine was originally a Triumph Slant 4 design not too dissimilar to what was found in Triumph Dolomites and TR7s.
Great video and awesome location!! 👍
Such a fabulous video. Crazy. Loved every minute. Just love to see such cars in a time warp Modern Archaeology.
Love you guys 😊😊😊😊
Brilliant
Blue MGB GT. Last registered 2002 and is currently on the DVLA Database.
Vacation in Latvia, so I was pleasntly surprised of a new video from you guys :)
Hope you’re having a lovely time 🥰
@@UKBarnFinds I did indeed. Riga is a beautiful place
Hi Claire, your star you’ve ever come your fears of films spiders and cobwebs as an automatic nice don’t beat the so far outside Saab😅😅😅😅😅😅
Both the Renault 4 and 5 are being brought back… supposedly this year for the 5.
My 1974 Renault 5 had that style of gear lever… 😊
I’d love to purchase the scirocco
Although all of the relays and you did not show underneath to see if it was rusty. The Sirocco, being an early mk2, on the surface looked like a great project car. Other than the dash board, the interior looked reasonably good too. What's is going to happen to all of these cars? Someone here in New Zealand is currently trying to sell a similar aged Mk2 GTI version for $21,000.00 NZD (just over 10,000 pounds).
Wow there is some truly awesome cars! I would love to same a few of those! Great find guys!
Thanks 😃 Are you guys going to Rustival 2? Whiteland Restorations did a fabulous job of spraying your mini by the way, that candy apple red colour was epic!
@@UKBarnFinds yes we are going we are planning on taking our garden found mini clubman estate. They did an awesome job it’s a lovely looking little car now. Hopefully catch you there. Did get a chance to come say hi at the last one aha 👍
Yep we’ll be there, look forward to seeing you then. Not sure what we are taking yet all our ‘show’ cars need a fair bit of attention 😂 😂
@@UKBarnFinds ace catch you there 👍
A field of memories vehicles
The sd1 belong to Bob out the film Rita, sue & Bob 2 😂 . What a amazing find
This is fabulous. liked and shared on my fb page.
I would love to get involved in something like this, uncovering old cars and getting them saved.
Careful what you wish for Simone 😉 Many thanks for the share. Are you going to Rustival 2?
@@UKBarnFinds I am yes, I have my ticket already for VDP.
Repairs will start again soon on TeeCee and I am hoping to bring Pinky along for the journey too.
Great watch guys ❤.
@58.06 an original (pre VW) Skoda (heated rear window) keeps your hands warm when push starting it in Winter
Which one did you take home?
What an excellent video, but. a shame that they have been left to rot.
They *should* have been scrapped. Honestly, I’m grateful they weren’t.
any Mitsu”bush”ies…? 🤔
It worried me when “you” mentioned the “crushing” word, so glad all those beauties are going to get a chance at a new life….😍
Great to see the Scirocco
Best of the bunch…
Renault 4…
Hillman Imp…
Rover 2600.
The dash mounted economy gauge was factory fitted on the 99 until 1982.
Better than Jonny smith!!
I love that Renault 4!
It’s awesome. We’ve been doing watching RUclips videos about them since 😂
I love European cars, I'm restoring a mk2 escort panel van in much worse condition than any of the cars in this video
can't wait for the next vid! love this vid!
Can't wait for the next video's
