  • In 2021 we made some changes and upgrades to our wood duck cameras. We should be able to document the ducks in a whole new way. Stick with us as we show you the whole nesting process and some fun stuff along the way. Will we get a chance to film another jump day? Stay tuned to find out.

    Still looks CRAZY claustrophobic to me, but funny how nature works... she knew exactly what it was and that it was there for her. Can't wait to see what transpires!

      Fortunately they are not picky about their cavity nests! Matt said we should mount a big screen and a welcome mat in them ;) thanks for watching. Part 2 in the works. Lots of exciting duck news coming.

      @@HusbandWifeOutdoorLife The video was hilarious because as cramped as it was, she was bopping around and flufing up the woodchips and making it home. She didn't seem the least bit annoyed by its size. ROFL Soooo looking forward to Part two and glimpses of the eggs once they go out to eat

      They are in and out right now. Laying one egg a day for about 14 days. Then the brooding! Can’t wait to show everyone. They are so funny when they spin around making the woodchips just right!

    Love the new box cam 📷 and hearing her cute little sounds. Her fluffing of the nest looks like me trying to get comfortable when my lower back bothers me. Lol 🤪 Nice variety of critters you have!

      Haha! She’s a character. She fluffs and fluffs and fluffs till it’s just right. It’s been a treat watching her these last couple days.

    Thanks for sharing your woodie experience. What type of camera are you using in the boxes?

    • @HusbandWifeOutdoorLife

      Green backyard cameras and I don’t really recommend them. More troubleshooting than they are worth.

    I witness two geese kill an entire wood duck clutch when the chicks came out of a wood duck box. We just keep the wood ducks around now

    • @HusbandWifeOutdoorLife
      @HusbandWifeOutdoorLife  9 месяцев назад

      Oh wow!! Thankfully no geese have been around really during jump days but I’ll keep that in mind. Blue herons will do the same. They eat the ducklings whole.

    No predator guards. Sloppy.

    • @HusbandWifeOutdoorLife
      @HusbandWifeOutdoorLife  Год назад +4

      This was only our second season maintaining boxes. We have predator guards now. The water was exceptionally lower causing the issues we had in 2021 (making the boxes more accessible to predators). We learned and corrected.

      Me too
      It's an ongoing struggle against the predators. Our main culprits are coons and ratsnakes
