    It's an attractive unit though certainly not an aerobatic machine. But it's pleasant enough to just tootle around.The plastic cross-rigging is best left in the box for display purposes as it'll always be popping out unless you glue it in. And then you'll need to rip it off to get at the innards to do any servicing.
    For those who might be planning to fly it with a Multi Radio or use the DSM or S-bus satellite sockets on the board - sorry folks, you're out of luck. Though the board looks like a ringer for the 1 in the A280 P-51, it uses a totally different protocol (not hacked yet) AND neither of the satellite sockets are activated. Most folks just rip out the board and drop in a spare receiver from the A280. They work quite well whether with stock A280 Tx, with a Multi Radio or via the satellite sockets.
    Also note that to get the correct COG (right at the front edge of the upper wing) you need to stuff the battery fully into the square hole behind the motor - not into the big hole underneath. And make sure you trim out a little foam to make inserting the battery easier plus stick some tape around the battery to have something other than the battery wires to yank on to get it out. Pulling on them will kill your batteries right smartly!

      I don't bother with the A280 board I use the Lemon RX DSMP DSMX/DSM2 Microbrick receiver. It has 2 built-in servos and a gyro. Make sure to choose the right servo connector for your specific plane's wing servos. The gyro is adjustable and you can do Vtail as well. Accepts brushless ESCs or you can use the onboard brushed esc. I have them in all my microplanes. Plus you can't beat the 37-dollar price tag.

      @@FarmerFpv The Lemon brick is an ideal choice for folks used to running Spektrum and who have no need for anything more than the usual Rate/Wind Correction Only stabilization. But for Old Farts (and others) who require the back-up of Angle/Self-levelling/SAFE stabilization the A280 board is cheaper and a direct drop-in replacement.

    Very, VERY pretty. That is a LOT of airplane for about $120 on ebay. Thank you for the review.

    I count the Staggerwing in USN 2 tone (blue/light greyblue) or solid light blue among my favorite a/c. A number of years back I started converting a Hobbyzone Champ into a Staggerwing. I don't remember what caused the build to stop ... but the unfinished plane is still on the shelf. That little Champ can be carved into a large number of other a/c. I was able to get a nice birddog out of one. Never got to fly it because I don't know how to fly ... so I don't know what it could do.

    Is it possible to fully turn off the gyros?
    That aggressive pitching makes it hard to land.

      Yes, you can turn off the gyros. Good to experiment with this;

    You should put a Lemon RX DSMP DSMX/DSM2 Microbrick receiver. It is almost a direct fit. Not much modifications are needed. It will fly just as well as the E-Flite AS3X UMX planes.
    it would also be benificial for your viewers to see how it's done so they can modify theirs.

    5mph winds and below flying? Thats the only bummer deal for flying micro birds.

      Actually, the gyro stabilization system does a superb job of smoothing flight out. These models can easily be flown with higher wind speeds.
