I would recommend the double edge blade but turn on multi pass every 1.5mm. This will cut the same path 3 times and still be quicker than the EOT and give you a good finish. ;-)
It never fails to have a mess-up when your double tasking. and for a bonus. very new to a equipment functions. can't wait to see more on this printing and router combo. thanks for the educational video!!
Nice to know I'm not the only one who messes up sometimes. LOL. Good thing you a patient person. Always fun to try things out too. Now you need to get one of those tables with the squeegee rollers built into it. Those make mounting or laminating so much easier.
@@ttms I use roll X (rolls roller) 4M x 1.7m, you can adjust table heigt, has light inside, a lot of nice features (cutting sliders, roll support, place underneath along for stuff, etc ) really , can't miss it.
Thank for the great content. If you roll the paper the opposite way before applying works perfect. We apply vinyl every day to 8’x4’ foam board and with the same squeegee works perfect for us. I can share a video how we do it if that helps.
I just accepted a job offer doing Print Production. I have no experience so I'm just watching your videos to get an idea of what I'll be learning. It said in the description Operate production equipment (Kongsberg tables, Summa Cutters, High Accuracy plotters). I'm guessing your using these types of equipment Thanks for the videos.
Damn, my man doesn’t even have a press to get that adhesive vinyl down. That’s old school to say the least. If your able to mount that without the adhesive vinyl having any laminate your damn good.
I've done square cuts using the double-edge tool and shapes with the router. I'll have to try shapes with the EOT. I'll be sure to make a video about it.
My rep says EOT is not good for cutting foam core and that I should get POT istead. Have you tried to cut more complex forms, letters with it? If so, whats your experience?
Oh man, the black part of the bubble at 2:20 might have been able to escape through the white if pressed slowly with even force-- then the all white portion could be popped, and all of the black can flatten out through that direction. Sorry, I think I'm just reliving some trauma here 😂 great video, used a summa for a 3ish years before we switched to colex
Forgive me for asking a silly question but is it possible to use a flatbed printer to print directly to the foam core? My shop doesn’t have large format printers yet. I only have offset and digital sheet fed.
Curious question. Did you work at a print shop prior to your venture? You seem to know alot from what I've noticed. You do very well for doing much by yourself. I applaud you sir.
I know personally the pain you felt when the wrong tool activated - oh the cringe! An extension handle for the squeegee and air release vinyl is totally the way to go for solo applications. Flatbed printer coming your way soon?
I panicked and pushed to the stop on the camera instead of the machine. Flatbed would definitely be nice. People think I have more machines than sense, so we'll see.
Why you use that stupid big squeegee and risk your work . Just buy a cheap hand cranked roll laminator and use it to put the media and backing through it.. anyway nice to see you work around stuff.keep up

Your channel is so informative. Thank you!

The worst is when I'm talking, it get's me every time. More videos coming, let me know if you want something specific.

I make more than I'd like to admit. An application table would be nice.

Have you tried this again since you did this video? If so how has that experience been? Do you still love this machine? If yea why and why not?
Can also use air egress vinyl. More expensive but eliminates just about all these headaches no bubbles or wrinkles.
It was air release vinyl 😕
UV flatbed would be nice for those foam boards and eliminate the workflow of applying the vinyl to it
I've moved to applying vinyl to foam and I actually prefer the results.
What’s the name of your shop ?
Can you do this same process with 4mm corrugated plastic. Or is it too thick? Thanks

It's all I use for foamcore.
This was so good I gave you it 3 likes
Thanks

For the scratch you could use a sharpie just a touch up real quick
Try using the heat from a lighter or hot air dryer to possibly shrink/remove wrinkles. It works for me sometimes.
I'll try that, thanks!

Not silly at all. Yes, if you have a flatbed printer you can print directly on the foam. Someday 😊.
Went back to watch these vids and wondered why you weren’t using the flatbed..
Amazing machine!
Thanks. It's been a lot of fun.

I did not. I'm self tough. The only help I had was a neighbor who was a distributor for promotional products and she showed me a few things.
Where can I find that large squeegee?
It's called the "the big squeegee". I got it online somewhere.
I'm not really fan of Summa products, they are certainly great but if I have to pick a cutting table I'll go with Zünd or Esko Kongsberg.
If I had the money, I'd get a colex. Baby steps.
It’s not the same price
My company has the Esko and the Summa. I always prefer the Esko. Way more intuitive and user friendly.
