Why is corks song a Rory Gallagher song bad penny he’s from donegal not cork lol
@@swaythegod5812he was born in Donegal. Doesn’t mean he’s not a Corkman.
There is an auld saying that goes like this....Limerick was,Dublin is and Cork will be and i'll add should be since the war of independence. Corcaigh abú.
@@swaythegod5812 funny you should say that,I was at the Macroom mountain dew festival in the very early 80's and Rory was playing and after finishing his set he came to the marquee bar for a few drinks as did Phil lynott and while there a fella came up to Rory and said exactly what you said and he woke up with a crowd around him not knowing what happened to him,i'll tell you what happened...Rory had cold cocked him with a savage punch and stood over him and screamed he was a Cork man and nothing else.....so yes Rory was a Cork man irrespective of where he was born....he's one of our own,

See you in July x 🇬🇧🇬🇧🧡
Long Live to the Irish Culture
Taigs don't have culture unfortunately.
Their language is younger than the language found in Ulster (Ullans language) by about 2,000 years.
Their current culture consists of, being invaded, crying at the Brits (for their own short-comings) being highly uneducated, fleeing to the U.K for the better lifestyle, cheaper resources and social support. All whilst spouting how evil Britons are, despite being a British nation themselves historically. They are by definition Britons.

Seeing Northern Ireland considered a county of Ireland made me feel so happy
I don't think the locals would be too pleased...
Damn straight. We're 9 counties in Ulster.@@bigchungus4336
Yeah not really pleased being lumped in like that to be honest
Its not even a county. It consists of six counties... Fermanagh, Antrim, Down, Tyrone, Armagh, and Derry.
@@shunt0141it's always been odd to me that Coontie Lunnonderrie does not have its main county town in its name (Coleraine, Cowlraine, or Cúil Rathain) as Antrìm, Armagh, and Doon have, nor is it named for something else such as the Fir Manach in Fermanay or Owenslann(Tyrone) after the Kinel-Owen, this frankly is quite odd.

What are you going on about? Ireland's been an independent country for over a 100 years. If you mean Northern Ireland -- they've never wanted to be ruled by Dublin. Should that change and should majorities on both sides agree, then the Republic of Ireland can be expanded.

Oh no that's racist! You must embrace your culture, way of life and rights being washed away in the name of tolerance! LOL @@Lugermorph1497
Their homeland could not sustain them, blame the English, or not. Ireland would probably be another state within the United Kingdom if the British had decided to help a lot more in feeding the Emerald Isle, after Black 47' it set the tinder kindling for the Easter Uprising, and later The Troubles. Ireland is also beautiful because there just wasn't anyone left after the famine, I still think Ireland's population still has not recovered from 1847, meaning most of the land just isn't needed for development, which is good for the natural beauty, all those lush fields and stone castles...

2:08 Oh cmon... "IT'S A LONG WAY TO TIPPERARY"!!!
It's not actually an Irish song.
@@ciankenny1524 Still rather have it tbh.
Would prefer that the author of the videos was a bit less strict about that criteira in this particular case; but also less strict about other criteria in general, like not having to so many times have a song that actually says the name of the region in its lyrics, and that part being the one that is played - which I think just doesn't sound that good, and comes in as kind of wierd.
That is a British song about wanted to return "home" to the Irish county of Tipperary. It has absolutly no place being there. It was just another product of British occupied
@@benedict9936 Actually it's got nothing to do with the county of Tipperary. In Victorian vernacular, cunnilingus was referred to as 'tipping the velvet' in polite society. For soldiers it became 'tipping the/her, hairy' [area], which in turn was gentrified to Tipperary in the song, the inside joke for soldiers being that, unbeknownst to wider society, when they were signing it's a long way to Tipperary, they were actually singing it's a long way to get the chance of cunnilingus. The references to Piccadilly and Leicester Square have been lost in time, but probably meant masturbating.
It’s the same old thing since 1916
My husband was invited to go to Monaghan when he was a teen by his best mates. They were all Glaswegian Gangsters, and my husband was the leader amongst them, but when they got to Ireland, he found out that the whole lot of them were involved in the RA! He met their Auntie, who was a senior RA officer and a veteran of the War of Independence. She had an old Lee Enfield 303 and used to shoot the heads off chickens from an upstairs window, when she wanted a roast.
Auntie and he once went to Dublin, to go to the cinema. She had her 303 with her (she carried it everywhere, with her) and no one stopped her. Everyone knew her and no one dared challenge her! The movie was called "Gunfight at OK Corral" and when it got to the gunfight scene, she stood up, shouted something and began blowing the living daylights out of the cinema screen, with the 303!
Years later, I found out who wrote the screenplay for "Gunfight at OK Corral" and it was Leon Uris!
I always wondered if he ever got wind of what this old lady did in Belfast, when she saw his movie, and if he might have based any of the characters in his novels on her...
All these people are dead now, that's why I can tell these tales. I've never had any direct involvement with the RA, but my husband did have some adventures with them.
