There were celts in souther Portugal also. They were even called "celtici". Is the most celt name a celtic people can have.
While north Portugal were inhabited by Lusitanians, Bracari and Galaicans. Lusitanians were identified as not celts and probably Galaecians, Bracari and Vetonians too weren't celts. Also, Turduli Vetere (old Turdulis) lived there and there were Iberian people, not Celtic.

@@rafaxd8178 it is indeed true that there were celts in southern portugal. however, its undeniable that the northern part of our country preserved celtic culture to a higher degree than the south, even if its still quite residual (for example, the bagpipes from Minho and Trás-os-Montes, or the caretos)
Moreover, while the Lusitanians were most definitely not celtic, the Gallaeci, and by extention, the Bracari, were indeed celtic, even if they did get influenced by previous inhabitants of the region.
with that said, at the end of the day, we're all portuguese, so meh (but the north is still better than the south, in my humble and definitely not biased opinion)

@@IHaveNoIdeaWhatMyNameShouldBe7 there are bagpipes literally everywhere in Europe, North Africa in Middle East. It's a very common instrument. Scotland just got famous for it during the 20th century due to mass media. ruclips.net/video/1BEk3UBSBUM/видео.html
Though it is true that the North region of Portugal retained celticness.
A recent Oxford publication researched a gene pool, and found that celts from Cornwall are descendent from North Iberians, rather than from central europeans, where celts come from.

Do any of these countries and counties even remotely recognise or care about their Celtic roots in modern sense? Like outside maybe Cumbria for England (I know parts of Shropeshire and Herefordshire consider themselves Welsh so would tie in with them over English). Since the rest of England truly doesn't care for their celtic roots, at one point even having a national myth they weren't even related to celts but invaders who wiped them out to Cornwall, Scotland and Wales. I doubt any part of the Germanic lands really cares even in Austria and Switzerland outside of knowing they had celtic history I doubt they would resonate with it at all.
It's the same for the Latin speaking areas as well(besides Brittanny and to a MUCH lesser extent NW Spain who use their history as more a seperating factor from Spain as a whole). Their culture, language and history for the past 2,000 continious years has been entirely shaped from the Roman Invasions. The only region from there I could see even an argument regaining a sliver of their Celtic identity would be Northern Italy if it wanted to split from the economically weak Southern Italy and needed a uniting identity outside of Italian, but that's hypothetical and fantasy-esque.
That's also be if all these people are even still the same as the ones from before. Take Hungary for example, they're more descendants and culturally related to the Finno-Uralic peoples of Siberia and North Eastern Europe over Celts. Outside of old ruins what is celtic about them(besides maybe a minority DNA)? Or even more areas like Central Turkey, The Balkans, Slovakia and Bohemia and Poland. I can't name an area that has had more war, changing empires, cultures, languages and religions in any other singular region on planet earth. I don't know how any Celtic Identity would even survive.
(Also Basque people are extremely patriotic for their Pre Indo-European language and culture that they've maintained for over 3,000 years. Why would they care in the least about Celts living among them for a while before they melded into the Basque culture?)

Gauls are gone have been for centries
France is named after the Frank's the germanic tribe that took over gaul land during roman collapse
Bretons are closely related to gauls so are the brits they are all brythonic insular celts which decend from the continental gaulish celts
Romans had huge genetic impact in France you also have Visigoths Burgundians both germanic who settled France and make up France as we know it today
You also have the norse who make up French Royalty the normans
None of this is gaul the language is extinct and dna is barely present in most of france
It's just like celts in Spain

The truth is the entirety of Portugal, and much of Spain, was home to Celtic tribes. But I absolutely cannot deny that above the Douro river, that Celtic presence has survived for generations, still present in some of our traditions (folk music, caretos, etc...). I wasn't born nor raised in the north of Portugal, but as just Portuguese, I am still very proud of our North. A Portuguese poet Miguel Cardoso once wrote "The North is more Portuguese than Portugal itself", I couldn't agree more...

Cornwall recuperou a súa lingua celta morta no século XVIII e pese a estar tremendamente "anglizada" é considerada "nación celta".
