    I loved your video. I always assumed if a betta makes a nest they are happy. I can say that my betta always seems to want to build a nest the day after I clean his tank. That day I usually also introduce some more tannins to the water. I guess I notice the nest due to the tannins holding the nest together.

    How to differentiate male & female beta?

  • @elizalibby2767
    @elizalibby2767 2 года назад +1

    I am very new at having a Betta friend. I too thought that I put too much of the dechlorinator in the water when I saw bubbles. He was in a 1gallon bowl for the first few days. After reading more, I got a 3 gallon tank with a filter and haven't noticed any bubbles! Is that because the water (even though very gently) it's moving now? Or is he unhappy...I am about to upgrade to a 5gallon tank this week as well.. thank you for your videos. I will be checking them all out.

      Hey, me and my fiancé are new betta owners as well. I got the 3 gallon tank with a warmer and a filter. We have a dragon scale betta male and he does make beautiful bubble nests. We have a tannin log in the water as well. It truly just depends. I feel like once he acclimates to the tank, and feels more comfortable then he could produce another bubble nests as you’d like him to.

    Hii, my male makes his bubble nest and when I put my female in the tank he still chase her and attack hard. He does this with both of my females, so I'm a bit confused on what to do now because both females have eggs and the male has a ready nest but he's still brutal and attack. Do u know what this means or what I should do now?

    • @TcCT238
      @TcCT238 2 года назад +2

      Your male has to actually have an attraction to the female that you introduce, can't just toss two together and pray for the best. Usually people get a few females because the males are picky

  • @jasonupson

    I would have to respectfullly disagree about bubble nests and being happy. When my 3 Bettas stop making a nest the water parameters go south. That is my first sign I need to change the water.

    Interesting story. Recently In my demasoni cichlid tank some fry appeared and 3 survived. Each have different ways to survive and stay away from the adults
    Fish number one stays at the top and has the regular colouring. Because of the abundance of floaters and the frequent feeding it grows the fastest and is very bold
    Fish two made a little home near where my bristlenose likes to hide and has very dark colours to blend in with Mr moustache ( the bristlenose )
    Fish three has very pale colours to camouflage with the substrate and stays near a plastic plant and a big rock structure.
    All are growing nicely and thriving.:)

But seeing this i still don't get it my betta is alone so is it still normal for hum to make the nest?

    • @TheCaptainBoat
      @TheCaptainBoat 8 месяцев назад

      Yes, it’s perfectly normal. If he’s bored, or wants to breed with a female, he will make a nest. This does not mean he is unhappy or sad. Is the water between 75-82 F*? Is there a plant or something in the tank with him? Is there tannin in the water? Is the water conditioned? There’s a lot that factors in.

    • @TheCaptainBoat
      @TheCaptainBoat 8 месяцев назад

      But it is normal for him to make nests.

    My Betta is in a 10g on my desk, he is always getting into something. I had an internal filter in the tank -Tetra and he kept jumping in it…where the water came out. I swapped him over to a sponge filter after 2 minor heart attacks..His Betta log was wedged in a corner of his tank…he jumped into the corner and was wedged in that spot!! He definitely keeps me on my toes! Maybe he needs a tank mate!

      I definitely will in the future. I'm currently figuring out if I can use RO water because I have very hard water, which wild bettas do not do well in. I want to make sure I can set up a much better home for them so I currently am taking a break from keeping wild bettas. In the meantime I'm reading and learning more about them so I can make better educational videos in the future.
