I actually wanted to see that kind of level. Basically levels that 'seem' like normal levels, but won't allow you to beat it the normal way. Instead there's dev routes hidden all over the place that aren't easily found.

Yeah but when the normal way of beating the stage is literally impossible and the skips become mandatory then it becomes bad design
@@sunnydraws2513 I mean the level name literally says that you need to cheat to win. What's bad design is Nintendo still not translating the Japanese name in English for the international audience and the English name in Japanese for the Japanese audience. And don't tell me that would be hard to do, it's really not, there are lots of programs that can do that automatically now.

Good catch! The gameplay video is exactly the same, just the facecam is not. So for whatever reason they decided to show the same death twice, but make it look like it is another one. Maybe to hide the real death at 11 lives? Idk why but yeah

Yeah, and at the end you can see that it is possible to jump out of the water and get the goal, so it might very well be possible to ignore the entire level. With that said, considering that swimming is a bit slow I do wonder if it would get the world record.
That speed run record on that misleading path stage rly shows how great of a cheese master Ryu rly is.

Damn you're so good at this game. Ever thought about one day a week at the end of the work week doing longer vids? I don't like it when you stop playing the whole circuit when you die once. Its fun watching you actually beat the hard levels after dying a few times.

So is a "hail mary", in terms of this channel's jargon, where you skip a level you're having trouble with (thereby forfeiting the run's completion) in order to try and see how far you can get before you run out of lives? Then you go back and focus on the level that was giving you trouble?

24:43 I wouldn't be surprised if you can go down to water past the second saw on the bottom and go even faster, or that's how the world record did it. You see how there aren't spikes on the bottom, and I bet there's not one on top of it or to the right from that, you can see how there's a spike on the left unlike every other saw which would leave an opening.

Exactly what I was wondering. The flag has an opening at the water bottom.
At 23:09 you can see that the bottom is closed to the left. So you cannot swim all the way from the beginning. But there isnt a spike under the 2nd saw, so you can drop into the water there and save a few seconds.
