I always do this before my trainings. Very useful. Thank you so much!
I´ve been using this warm up for about a year, and I can tell it´s the best. No injuries since I´ve been doing this. So grateful to you Ian!
Thanks for the specific exercises Ian, as I get older I'am starting to realize how important it is to warm up and stretch.
I've been waiting for this for a long time! Thx
Very helpful Ian. I didn't realize how much I needed this. Looking forward to reaping the benefits. Will be using it tomorrow. Thanks very much!
I really like your warm-up. It is definitely a great warm-up for any active person!
I'm curious if your warm-down routine is similar or if you have a specific routine for post-workout? I'd also be interested on your thoughts in regards to other pre/post-match routines such as dietary, mental etc.
Thanks a lot! Great warm up!
Going tennis Tomorrow and this is just what I needed! A fab warm up as I have a dodgy hamstring!
Loved the stretching exercises. If you would do more in depth and also explain what are the most common injuries in tennis, that would be great. I find physiotherapists don't know anything about tennis. Thanks so much. I have been watching all your videos and sending your links to my tennis group.
Great!
Very useful as always!
Thanks Ian!!!
Thanks Ian. Great stuff as usual! Wondering when we can get the follow up video on "must use video"?
Thanks for this video. I train many hours a day and for a few weeks I have felt really bored of my worm up. Your exercises inspired me. Thanks :)
I didn't warm up properly before using the ball firing machine on full power and have badly hurt my shoulders. Warming is important and so is not using the machine on fall blast!
Good warmup! Now I'll start to play tennis!! Thank you!!
Thank you Ian!!
I have a history of rotator cuff impingement problems as well and was wondering if you might consider doing a more in-depth video on your strength/stretching routines specifically for your shoulders?
🙏 hope all is well . I always come back to this video
Subbed after this one vid, I'm gonna binge on backhand lessons now haha :D
Will you please upload a video on stretching after playing tennis
Thank you so much for this great instructional video, keep up the great work!
L
I love all your videos Ian! Seriously, you're the best...I think you know that already though. 😘
you. are. gorgeous. !!!.
you doing great things... thank you for free lessons
+semih avara

I agree.

I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else needs to find out about how do you cure tennis elbow try Boshapra Elbow Treater Boffin (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my mate got great success with it.
Thanks Ian!! good warm-up tips for beginners.
For anybody!! Thanks for watching :-)
I would recommend some sort of split for the groin area too.
this was spectacular, thank you Ian, Loved it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@EssentialTennis I wanted to ask you a question what can I do for my shoulders if I don't have the elastic band?
Will you please show the dynamic stretch you use using the bands???
Yesssss Thanks
thanks!
Nice and simple warm up, like it!
Thank you, Charles!
This video is exactly what I need. I used to play tennis without warming up and my ankles always swole and hurt. thanks..
Perfect!
"90 seconds shoulder pain relief" with elastic band is really works! Ian, you said here but forget about link for that great exercise. Very useful for those who haven't seen.
Alexander Li Thanks for the reminder! I've added it to the description.
Thank u I was struggling with warm up
You bet!
Hey Ian, thanks for the videos!..
I have a question for you.. When you are facing a match with a known opponent you can prepare some kind of tactic to approach the match.. but sometimes that tactic doesn't work right away, maybe because you are not able to execute it properly or maybe because it just isn't the right tactic. How can you tell whether it is time to change you tactic or just stick with it? (specially when points are too short) Thanks!
Where is the link to the shoulder elastic band warm up!
thanks. good bye static stretching.
Very, very, nice, useful... thank you.....OM
You are most welcome
hi ian ....... can you please make a video of fitness for tennis....... like a schedule for everyday....... fitness
Thanks. I suffer from golfers elbow, so hopefully your routine will help :)
Do a search for "Essential Tennis elbow". We have lots of help!
why not explain the reason for not doing static stretches
, would be nice to know.
Any other tips for forearm warrmup? My forearm has been freezing up mid matches
Could you give us a written list of the warmups in the video? Thanks.
Liked it.
Its good thnks buddy😄😄
Welcome 😊
Where is the link for the shoulder routine? I don't see it =)
I suffer from very tight hip flexors i find stretching them is good before a match .
Hello Ian, Thanks to you and your team for ALL your excellent tennis teachings. I have a question. What should we eat before and after the usual daily tennis practice session? Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks, Neha
Come uns pãezinhos. Carboidrato é importante.
Hello! Awesome video. Do you mind if this video is shared to the country club members of various golf courses? We are doing a golf/tennis/health tip campaign for the beginning of 2021
Please do!
Nice bro
Nice
any tips for knee pain from tennis?
thanks
You're very welcome, Paul!
why does static stretching before playing hurt performance?
Can you explain the reason for walking forward during the hamstring stretches (1st and 3rd)? I don't see the benefit and it seems like both can be done standing in place.
You'll still receive great benefit staying in place, halffulltome 😀
Ian when i train at the ufc gym we do most of these warm ups
good video I've been using this with my tennis team, do you have any recommendations for stretching exercises in the end of a match, maybe more static stretching?
that would be called static stretches. I THINK.
Lance kaminsky: I don´t do static stretching exercises for legs after a match anymore. I use a foam roller for self massaging, and I csn tell I´ve never been better physically. Those stretches Ian does at 3:46 and 4:14 are good for elbow, do them regulary.
Hi Ian, I recently have lost points and even matches due to my anger on the court. I was wondering if you have any tips for staying cool, calm, and collected on the court. Thank you!
Dylan Kruse I used to get upset to the point of broken rackets due to too much pressure being placed on myself. Here are 3 things I learned and incorporated that helped me from ruining a nice tennis outing with a hitting partner. 1) feel and acknowledge your emotions swinging. This means at the first sign of frustration, have something to counter that negativity. I inwardly repeat "I am (deep breath in) at peace (deep breath out). I do that literally after every point bc I it is like a security blanket for my emotions. Use that tip and blend it into... 2) Take your time. If you hit a bad first serve, do not rush to hit your second. You deserve a moment to relax. You deserve to enjoy the moment. Take 10 seconds and focus on something that has nothing to do with tennis and then snap back in to game mode. The worse that can happen is a time violation but if we're being pushed over the brink with frustration, it is likely we were rushing the whole time. 3) Take time away from the game. If you are being dq'd from matches bc of anger, this is the world telling you that you are not fit to be playing structured matches. Take time to assess why you love the game and why it means so much to you. Many times we don't understand how much we loved something until it was gone and this is no different. You were smart to be so open about something that was too embarrassing for me to admit until I was into my adult life. Good luck to you. Hopefully even just one of these tips helped out.
Dylan Kruse observe Roger Federer. And Learn.

One problem area for me is my lower back. Are there any stretches you can recommend to help warm up my back?
Daniel: Do this warm up, specially those at 1:00, 1:37, 2:00 ans 2:51. I have lower back problems and these have helped me a lot. I do 1 minute of each, begining slowly.
Thank you Penny the Cat!
This warm up cured my lower back pain. Thankyou!
Amazing, great to hear that, Christian! What part do you think helped the most?
I believe the knees to chest along with the hamstring leg raises. I think they helped alleviate pulling on my lower back.
Any chance you will make a "cool down" routine?
Awesome, Christian. I actually also had a lot of lower back problems in the past, and loosening my hamstrings has definitely helped a lot. You may want to work on your hip flexors and gluteus medius as well, both made a big impact for me.
Unfortunately we don't have any free content on cool down routines yet, but that's a good idea! That's where you want to use static stretches to lengthen and loosen, as opposed to before activity. It's also a great time for fascial release as well using a foam roller or ball, etc. Hope that's helpful for now! -Ian
Much appreciated!
So where is the shoulder routine?
Great warm up! But, can you do something stronger? I mean, more ''than it'' ''more running''. Can you?
Id recommend just doing it mutiple times or doing more reps
thanks for the other angle at 1:30! Otherwise I wouldn't have understood.
Anaben11 really necessary sarcasm there...thanks...
Shit banter
Are their any new warm ups before singles match play?
Yup! Here you go: ruclips.net/video/H8Qajqwu9kY/видео.html
How long before your match can you warm-up?
I'd say a good 30-45 minutes at the most, Judi. An hour or more in advance and you're going to either tire yourself out trying to stay warm or cool completely off again. -Ian
Can u explain what slice and topspin are? In ur next video please
Can I just ask do you need to grunt in tennis, my coach does it but only for his serves, I don't get the grunting thing?
Lunar Infinity I sometimes grunt and I think it helps me with my breathing and getting rythm (i.e. taking air in when muscles are "relaxed" and taking in out to be explosive). I tend to do it more when I'm agitated though
JCatrileo Anyways, I wouldn't say grunting as such is good, good breathing is, but it is easier to do when you hear how you are breathing
Can I use your videos in my website (with reference to your you tube channel)?
+Amin Kazemi If you mean embed the RUclips video then yes, go for it.
Thank you.
what does the $47/month buy me?
