I’m sorry to say this, but the US makes education and the betterment of society more and more difficult to attain and achieve. The constant stress to survive and the fear of the lack of resources make people strangely in arms, rather than rational. It’s a big picture scenario, from the over abundant trash food, subsidies from the government for poisons (HFCS), rampant capitalism that puts companies over people, over-medication. Anyway, living in such a system makes one blind to the real solution because the average person doesn’t question the system; they believe have to play by these rules to survive.
The majority of US citizens are brainwashed to think any sort of tax increase or redistribution of wealth to provide healthcare for all etc is socialism or Communism. Tell that to 2/3rd of the world with developed healthcare systems which have stood for 100 years and are highly capitalist.

While I wholly support Bernie's policies, I fear that should Bernie won the primaries, his campaign would be similar to that of George McGovern. McGovern's campaign specifically appealed to young, university students, so much so that he did not appeal much to other demographics. While there are many more people supporting progressive change than back then in the 70s, I don't think it is enough to get Sanders in the White House. Most Democrats are moderates rather than progressives, and most Americans still have a negative connotation of socialism. Hence, I think that should Sanders be the leader of the Democrats, his campaign would be unsuccessful, and I would much rather a centrist than a far-right fascist. Biden isn't the best option, but he is the least worst option right now.

Why did America miss out on him as president? He genuinely seems to care for the people and not just the power. The fact that he's been saying the same thing to help the people and really helping them feels like proof enough.
I’m sorry to say this, but the US makes education and the betterment of society more and more difficult to attain and achieve. The constant stress to survive and the fear of the lack of resources make people strangely in arms, rather than rational. It’s a big picture scenario, from the over abundant trash food, subsidies from the government for poisons (HFCS), rampant capitalism that puts companies over people, over-medication. Anyway, living in such a system makes one blind to the real solution because the average person doesn’t question the system; they believe have to play by these rules to survive.
The majority of US citizens are brainwashed to think any sort of tax increase or redistribution of wealth to provide healthcare for all etc is socialism or Communism. Tell that to 2/3rd of the world with developed healthcare systems which have stood for 100 years and are highly capitalist.

Look at Europe. Every EU country + Britain has universal healthcare - Socialised Medicine, as Americans like to call it. The UK has had this since 1948. You’d think that if we were going to descend into an authoritarian, communist hell-state, that might have happened already...
In Europe, Bernie would not be considered a ‘hard-core socialist’ at all. He’d be a fairly standard left-wing politician. His policies on healthcare, high minimum wage, no student fees etc, echo pretty closely those which are implemented in Norway, Finland, Germany... they aren’t looking like descending into Stalinist dystopias any time soon.
I get that communism is scary - no one wants it, it doesn’t work. But in my opinion, making sure everyone has access to healthcare and education isn’t scary. It’s sensible. The Scandies pay around 50% income tax, but what they get in return is surely worth it; a baseline level of security which means they never have to fear horrific healthcare costs or having to skip college because they can’t afford it. By helping each other, they help themselves too.

IN a world where money wasn't an issue for running that would be perfect. He would do much more for the average American than anyone. Too many people think socialism is bad, but the opposite is antisocial and that is really bad. I believe the problem is politicians don't want citizens educated politically speaking so they can hold power and not the people. After all they are really civil servants, but you would think they were royalty.He's smart and decent, empathetic and thinks well ahead. It's a tragedy that he wasn't elected president, America would benefit like never before in every way.
While I wholly support Bernie's policies, I fear that should Bernie won the primaries, his campaign would be similar to that of George McGovern. McGovern's campaign specifically appealed to young, university students, so much so that he did not appeal much to other demographics. While there are many more people supporting progressive change than back then in the 70s, I don't think it is enough to get Sanders in the White House. Most Democrats are moderates rather than progressives, and most Americans still have a negative connotation of socialism. Hence, I think that should Sanders be the leader of the Democrats, his campaign would be unsuccessful, and I would much rather a centrist than a far-right fascist. Biden isn't the best option, but he is the least worst option right now.

Realistically, Bernie couldn't have won against Trump, and we'd have Trump for 4 more years. Yes, I know that's heresy for Bernie followers. Biden's moderate image was what brought everyone together, and it was closer than it should have been. Luckily, Bernie stepped aside and didn't mess it up like he did for Hillary. Bernie was as damaging as James Comey to her campaign, and one of the reasons we got Trump. Bernie can't accept that most Democrats are not far left progressives, and that will always be his Achilles Heel.
