Wow, you hit it out of the park with this video. Of all the how to videos I have watched on axe sharpening, and then you come out with this right to the point of how to simply grind a axe. Congratulations 👍 🇨🇦
Awesome video with Great tips !!!! I had a mild heart attack when you hit the rock !!!NOOOOOO !!!!!!! You showed some great tips that I'll follow ,,, the leather on the pad is genius,,,, I've been doing mine by hand . Thanks and always looking forward to your videos !!!!
That's the beauty of a £40 axe, it's not so precious that you're afraid to use it and risk hitting the odd rock. Imagine doing this test with a Gransfors Bruks?! I'd cry if someone did that to my Gransfors 😂 Honestly you've opened my eyes and reminded me of why I got into bushcraft in the first place. Thanks👍🏻
Thanks, it felt so wrong doing it, I really like that axe too 😰 was impressed it wasn't dented more, just shows how tough they are. Hope it forgives me.
I thought I was going to have an axe to grind with you when you hit the rock with that beautiful axe. Great video, new fan. I found you from your interview with yankee.
Thanks mate, I don't really have a trade as such, just dabble in everything, at the moment I'm a bus driver but it's a job not a career if you know what I mean 👍
@@SwampValley I know the struggle well. I taught myself how to paint after a few months experience on site and just decided to start my own business and sure am flying now.. We're in lockdown until Feb and then we will see what's the crack with the situation. I was asking because my younger brother moved to Glasgow and he will be looking for work soon, he's a carpenter but he can do a lot of other work.

Well here across the pond we refrain from chopping rocks with an axe 🪓
I suppose it does happen though 😕
Great video Skye, glad to see you back 😀

👍👍🤠🤠 Enjoyed the show!!
that's a great way of sharping the axe. leather on the pad that's cool
Yea it's a game changer for sure, hope you have fun with it 👍
Nice easy way of getting the tool shiny 😎
Great job 🪓
Happy new year's mate all the best for 2021🎆🤙🎆
Thanks mate, have a good one too 👍
Why do you polish your axe blades? What about field sharpening?
If the axe is high quality it only needs sharpening once every couple of weeks, a mirror polish cuts better and stays sharp longer too 👍
The health and safety disclaimer scared me enough to bring it to someone else to sharpen for me.
"If you can shave with it, that's good enough for me!" 🙂
great idea with the angle grinder. What is your trade Skye? also by any chance do you live in Glasgow?
Thanks mate, I don't really have a trade as such, just dabble in everything, at the moment I'm a bus driver but it's a job not a career if you know what I mean 👍

You damn-near split that rock! Thanks for teaching me how to fix my axe!
oh no!!!!!!!
Yea... It did feel wrong 😬 but I fixed it 👍
@@SwampValley lololo, i dont know if i could do that on purpose, i did whack the heck out of a big screw with mine today
@@WoolysWorld so you screwed it 😅
Ouch, that was painful to watch at the start there. My brother did this while cutting some wood with my axe on concrete, he's no longer my brother....
🤣 yea I didn't enjoy it, still can't look at myself in the mirror 😜 at least you can fix it now 👍
Extremely dangerous that. Get a linisher 👍🏻
AAAHHHHHH NOOOOOOOO
edit:
Oh it's fixed
Beware! Intentionally hitting an axe on a rock angers Crom.
Yea, it was a strange feeling but all my axes are nice and sharp so had to do something to dull it 😅
