    Some more things you might not know:
    Press I to toggle ship stabilization mode (auto brake), this way you can glide in space and save fuel. In space there are 2 modes, in atmosphere there are 3 modes (see little icon on the bottom right).
    When flying on a planet, you can press Ctrl while holding W and then releasing both to set cruise speed. You can have the ship fly while you manage your inventory or look at the map.

    Another good one. I actually learned something new - hadn't thought about adjusting the character's third-person view by hitting the Alt key. Suggestion for another video: While levers and sensors can get complicated fast, just the simple setup for basic settings "might be" helpful as well as noting the benefits to power consumption and quality of life.

    Re: Tip #4 @ 4:15, you can do more than just put some components in to reduce build times, you can use it as a primary salvage technique for acquiring huge quantities of building components. The starting mission-related wreck you get in most survival games (the one broken into 3 pieces) contains enough materials to build your first base & a couple starter SV's. Just strip it down to the ground, putting all the components into the F2 build screen. The downside is it won't let you put more materials into the F2 builder if it's already got what it needs for the selected blueprint. So it's handy to subscribe to something huge, like jrandall's GigaCore or Perseus Carrier CV's, which require HUGE amounts of building materials. Set that as your target blueprint when salvaging; you don't have to build it. By the time I have my first CV, I usually have 10's of thousands of the basic materials already stored in the builder.

    • @Rakoona
      @Rakoona  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I beleive there is a huge workshop dumps you can sub too meant for this. In this, I was mostly mentioning how components as opposed to ingots, will reduce your production time. I.e. If electronics take 3 secs each to make, that time will be reduced from your blueprint time if you put it in. Well, at least, that's what I was told!

    • @Demolishionist
      @Demolishionist 2 года назад +2

      @@Rakoona Components do reduce time but whole blocks and devices reduce it WAY more. You can reduce the time down to 1 second on any build if you put enough whole blocks and devices in the factory. Combine the salvage dump as mentioned with intentionally building the necessary devices and dumping them into the factory and you can bring a 16 hour build down to 1 second. When you know what ship you want next and are still gathering materials, build the blocks and devices as you go so when you finally have enough resources, your build time is next to zero.

    • @Rakoona
      @Rakoona  2 года назад

      @@Demolishionist Yeah, and also, with time itself as you are playing, I think the time reduces as well! If I'm not mistaken.

    Nice short to the point video. I have been looking for Some more Empyrion channels. Subbed! A good topic for a tutorial would be covering the crazy bugs you can come across, and how to get out of the situations using console commands. Those are all good tips. The game doesn't do a good job of advertising that functionality. The one about toolbar order in ships is not well known at all. Very good item to point out.
    If you're looking for other video topics there's a little known way to convert those "Crashed Capitol Vessel" POIs you find back into a CV. Most of them aren't worth the trouble but there's a couple that can be a good early game CV without too much work. It involves moving some files around in the game save so it's not something everyone would be interested in doing. If you want an overview of the process let me know and I can add another comment on the process. (But it won't hurt my feelings if you aren't interested).

      Always up for some more topics! Could be an interesting thing to cover! We can talk about it more!

    • @xlerb2286
      @xlerb2286 2 года назад +1

      @@Rakoona Life got busy and I never got back to you on this. Here's the process at a high level. Once you've found a "Crashed Capital Vessel" POI that you want to turn back into a CV:
      1. Near the POI, but with some room around it, place a CV starter block.
      2. Using debug information get the ID of the POI and of the newly placed CV starter block, quit Empyrion.
      3. In the saved game directory structure find the directories for both those IDs. They'll be in .../Saves/Games//Shared/...
      4. Copy each of those directories just in case.
      5. In the directories for both those items swap the 0.area files - the copied directories may be useful here.
      6. Restart Empyrion, load the game. You should now see that the CV starter block has all the blocks that were part of the POI, and the POI has the blocks originally from the starter block.
      7. Using the console you can delete the old POI if you want.
      All items that were in storage boxes in the POI will be in the ship. But oxygen, fuel, and any signal logic won't be copied over.
      You don't have to overwrite the POI's 0.area file of course. If you want the "Crashed Capital Vessel" to remain as it was just copy it's 0.area file to the starter block's 0.area file but don't do the other half of swapping the files.
      If the POI contained any blocks that aren't legal for a CV you'll have to fix that up. But as those crashed CV POIs started out as CVs that's generally not an issue. Some of them are old designs though, and contain blocks that at that time were shared between SV and CV but have since been split into separate SV and CV specific blocks. They're easy to find and replace though. Walkways/railings are the biggest ones.

    • @Rakoona
      @Rakoona  2 года назад +1

      @@xlerb2286 Wow, that is a lot! I think you can just copy the base without the core, then put a CV Started block, and paste on the CV. Then you can just move the core to wherever you want. I'll probably do a vid on that!

    • @xlerb2286
      @xlerb2286 2 года назад +3

      @@Rakoona Yup, I'm sure you could do that by switching to creative mode for a bit. But I find it easier to swap a couple files (I just went into a lot of detail about how to do it). than to start copying/pasting in creative. Though that would be the more correct way to do it no argument there :) What I do is a dirty trick, but it works. But I'd love to see you do a video on whatever way you think is best to turn a crashed CV POI back into a CV. I can't be the only person out there that enjoys fixing up a wreck as my first CV ;)

    Another topic that would be useful to cover is "How Connected Toolbars Work." It's confusing.
    I *think* they only work for either (a) picked-up items, or (b) salvaged items. One of the two will go into the inventory you selected for the connected toolbar, but the other will go into your own inventory. Which is which, I don't recall. I've done my own experiments, but always end up feeling, "This is really wonky, I don't understand it."

    • @Demolishionist
      @Demolishionist 2 года назад +2

      If you're connected then both should go to the connected storage container; picked up or salvaged. The only thing that the connected toolbar is weird on is looting dropped loot boxes. When you open those boxes you are only presented with your player inventory and no option to change it. The solution there is before opening the box, hit the T button to switch to your connected toolbar then open the box and drag the contents of the box onto the connected toolbar. It's not as mysterious as it may seem at first.

    Its a good tutorial, but if I might offer advice.. I know you're trying to build a hook, an 'image' to attract new viewers. But the slight change in voice doesn't create the illusion of having a second person there, it just makes it sound like you're talking to yourself. Its very distracting and takes away from the production. You have a decent content creator voice. Just keep offering up good, detailed information, and people will come. No need to do the weird secondary voice that is a little gruff but mostly just sounds like you.
