Nice review. Regarding most of the features you like, they have been standard on consumer camcorders for many years, even inexpensive ones. For example, I have been using a Samsung HMX-H200 since 2011 that has the same general shape but a little smaller, slightly smaller touchscreen (2.7"), 20x optical zoom, very good optical image stabilization, great battery life, etc. Of course, it is only HD, not 4K, and no doubt everything is done better on the FDR-AX43. Even though my DSLR records video, I still much prefer using a camcorder for exactly the reasons you mention and I carry both in my camera bag when travelling.

When import vids, some show up as mah and other with a C in front of #. Do you know why? TX

Sony should market this kind of video camera...Sony zv1 is great..but this one is one or 2 steps above it
how much is the battery life, and also can ı charge the battery with usb cable, without taking off the battery. I want to use this camera connected with cable, ı need more battery life.

I have been researching the Sony AX43, AX53, AND AX700 FOR A WEEK. Based on my research today I decided to purchase the AX43, but alas the price has increased by over $200.00. This camera was released in 2016 so why has the price increased?

I've had this camcorder for 4 months and one thing is bothering me. I don't want to have to stitch together all my separate clips. It's too much work for someone using this for home movies. m trying to find a camera that does continuous recording -- meaning, not separate clips. When I start and stop recording, I want it to remain on one video file. Any recommendations?
Put all the files in premier pro and export it as one giant clip?
I recently bought the camera but when I transfer the files to my laptop, the videos show up in 720p. How do I make it 4k? I've put the camera settings to 4k and everything needed for HD quality but whenever I transfer it to my mac, it shows up in 720p. Do I need a program to render it to 1080p/4k or am I doing something wrong? Is it the SD card?? Idk. Please help.
you need to have tv or a computer screen that can handle 4k.
a 1080p screen cant view 4k because the screen is only full HD. And not 4k.
I have a similar issue, I uploaded my footage to my Mac, edited the footage in CapCut, and the quality was so compressed and I couldn’t figure out why. Did you ever figure it out?
@@terrylina.8366 My videos still stay 720p but eventually the videos started having a lot less dead pixels than before and it's a lot smoother. I dont have a definitive reason but I'm guessing my laptop had to take its time to render the videos. I don't know why but it stopped compressing one day and they just came out right.

allo ... When I use the AX43 on livestreaming, after 4 minutes without mouving, the sreen goes in standby.... I have to move all the time. Sony says to remove the battery , the card, nothing works... would you know ? thank you very much in advance fot any help
Go to the settings and turn off demo mode

@@reginaldetienne4485 since, unlike the original poster, you seem to be knowledgeable and responding to questions - one of my biggest problems with my AX-53 is that you have to go to the menu to switch from video to stills. As a wildlife photographer I often shoot stills until something starts moving, whereupon I want to be able to switch instantly back and forth from stills to video. This is possible with my Vixia and my Panasonic VX-1, but do all the Sony camcorders require you to toggle back through the menu? That really takes a lot of time and causes lots of lost shots with animals.

My AX-33 (basically the same cam) just broke after 2 years - the camera has this shitty USB cable sticking out of the side of the cam that plugs into the handrest while not in use in the computer. The thing gets used and moved back and forth so often (as you will use it) that the cable plastic has weathered and torn, and the wires inside are sticking out/frayed/broken (at the part where it attaches to the camera). I hope for Sony's next range of camcorders in this style they remove and replace this USB connection style completely so that, either it is an ultra-tough cable, or there is no cable at all but perhaps a port instead.

Too bad many so many of us live in a city. We'd find such a camera more useful outdoors, and not just for taking videos of people and their belongings.

Camcorder with no viewfinder is like a car with no window. And Sony always make MEGA overexposed footage.
