I think a lot of these youtubers don't understand the different between a "starter house/base" and "a small detailed building made up of hard-to-get materials in early game", small doesn't mean starter/early game
You’ve definitely got a point there. I think the term starter house is used so broadly nowadays the true meaning of it can get lost. I’m definitely guilty of it. However, the way I use it is more so for a small and simple house, even if it’s something you can’t build right away :)
i don't see what's that hard to get. Concrete is not that hard, being just sand and gravel, and the castle maybe requires a lot of material, but nothing too difficult to get.
The best base actually is underground base for stsrters cause building wall and roofs takes some time to get resources building next to village is kinda helpfull too

Yeah those aren't starter houses those are houses to build once you are in creative mode and you have like a few hours to build it I think because I don't know how I am supposed to build that within my first five Minecraft days and it might just be skill issue but it could also be maybe just the fact that on average Minecraft players usually don't instantly start off the game when they are playing it casually with enough resources to basically build a big house or whatever like that like starter houses are supposed to be I think small but having bare necessities not having every single block in the game
I always build a hobbit hole as my starter house (i basically find a mountain then flatten it out, hollow it and build a lil cottage core hobbit hole) Then i build a giant mushroom as my house:}
My home server for me and my kids is decked out with Marlo builds, recently we are starting to turn some of your medieval builds into a village in the nether. using black stone, nether brick and basalt.

I usually replace materials in tutorials with what I can get my hands on anyways.
