    Absolutely terrific, what a wonderful resource!! I do watchmaking for a hobby and have serviced a couple of movements. This movement is amazingly engineered for service! I think I may tackle my own Rolex one day...One observation, in min 4.40 you left a small lint, -right at the point where you applied the lubricant-, before installing one of the winding wheel ;)

    Mark- super video! Any chance you could reply back here with any tips/technique for proper removal/installation of the balance and how it should orient with the pallet fork? I know the small jewel on the bottom is to fit into the fork. But not sure how you do this.

    Is there a reason why you only lubricate the pallets on certain movements and not on others? Or do you do it but not show it? It’s kind of confusing watching you lubricate some parts while you don’t on others, just wondering if you could clear that up.

    I have a question. When putting on a balance wheel. Does it matter putting it in from 3 o,clock to 12 o,clock like you did in this rolex. Or can you put it from 9 to 12 position. Does the hairspring coil or uncoil. Does it matter. Or is it both a good method. 🤕🤯

      No such animal on most upscale watches; their function make the watch less accurate.

      watchmaker's tools

    • @death2pc
      @death2pc 4 года назад

      Mostly around-the-house tools, any of which you can get from a hardware store, or maybe borrow from your neighbor. For lubricant, 3-IN-ONE or, better yet and mush quicker, just spray the whole assembly with WD 40 and simply shake off the excess.............

    Hi Mark, great stuff as usual and very relaxing to watch. How do you ensure the balance wheel shaft / arbor is clean for refitting the jewel and cap when the whole balance assembly appeared to go into the cleaning machine still assembled?

    A lot of “metal on metal” with the setting lever movement, seems like a spot for high rate of problems, too bad not really an application for a jewel to reduce friction, would certainly fracture it.
