I use coconut oil on my cuticles and nails... It works SO well... My nails take FOREVER to grow but using coconut oil they grow a bit more EVERYDAY!!! I friggen love it! And I like that my fingers don't stay oily forever like when you use some moisturizers and cuticle oils... I would definitely recommend doing this
Thanks for this video. With regard to the Vaseline cream, it should be noted that the second ingredient on the list is mineral oil. This is not only a by-product of the petroleum industry, but is notable from other natural oils in that it initially feels like it conditions your skin but, in fact, it draws moisture from you skin so you skin feels drier. So you add more cream... and then feel dry, so you add more cream. In effect, it actually dries your skin more than a natural oil like Sweet Almond, Avocado or Olive oils, amongst others. I would suggest that you avoid any products with mineral oils or petrolatum which is a mineral oil jelly. Vaseline, of course, is the largest brand of petroleum based creams etc. It'd be interesting if you tried a hand cream that didn't have mineral oil in it, and see if your skin became more moisturized over time. On a small side note, using oil alone won't moisturize your skin as you are not adding moisture, you can only do this with a water based cream. However, oils really help to condition your skin and are absolutely magical ingredients. I hope this helps.. apologies if you knew all this already!!!
I don't know why I watch so many of these videos. Nearly every nailcare routine is the same, yet I can't stop watching them. Lol, I guess it's like nailsperation.
one tip for yellow nails.. mix a tiny bit of a purple shampoo with your hand soap. same as with bleached hair, the yellows need to be toned with purple to cancel out. when my hair was blonde, I used purple shampoo to keep it platinum, and it happened to keep my nails super white. the shampoo is highly pigmented, so it probably wouldn't take much. use a little nail scrubber to get it all around and underneath the nails, and rinse off. it would be very gentle on your nails, even more gentle than hand soap. then continue on with your normal nail care routine.
Old comment, I am replying tho as it is at the top - as an ex nail biter that had messed up smile lines -mine improved greatly when I started cleaning under my nails with a tooth brush and soap, rather that pushing a tool underneath them and poking my smile line as I dug out dirt!
Not trying to be rude, but does it bother you that the nail shapes on both hands aren't the same? I understand why the left hand is more filed and shaped, since it's your swatch hand, etc., but is it more trouble to try to grow out both hands to the same long, length? Because I notice that the nails on my left hand are generally stronger and break less easily than the nails on my right... The middle finger on that handle currently has been weakened greatly due to the top few layers peeling off. What I'm asking is if there's a reason that you don't grow all of your nails to the same shape and length, because if there's a factual reasoning, then I'd like to know. (PS I saw your cartoon nails on your instagram page, and they are literally the neatest I've ever seen.)
+hiley t. Hi! Good question.. Currently both my hands are the stiletto/almost shape and exactly the same length as each other but honestly it depends on my mood. Being as doing nail tutorials and nail art is my full time job, I don't really see my hands as twins, more the 'star and the assistant' lol I obviously need my left hand to look 'better' as it gets filmed and photographed and the right just does all the work without any of the glory so sometimes it's easier to have the nails shorter or a different shape to stop things getting too complicated as working with long nails can be. The reason the nails on your left grow stronger and better usually all comes down to the fact that you use your right hand to do more, open drawers, reach for things, scratch your self.. Because it gets used more the nails aren't necessarily weaker but are more prone to break. I know i use my right hand for 99% of tasks as I can't risk a break on my left. My thumbs tend to peel and split and I still can't work out why so I also tend to keep them a little shorter. Thank you so much re: cartoon nails. They sent me dizzy with concentration lol
Nails By Jema Thanks for replying! Seeing as I don't really do nail art and just like to paint them since I am not a very patient person, I think I can risk having both hands at the same medium/longish length. And thank you for the video, as well. I found it very informative, and I think I'll keep reminded to drink a lot of water now. (Seriously. I can go out with a water bottle for several hours and only drink an eighth of the bottle by the time I return.)
You said the most helpful thing I've heard concerning growing healthy nails, start at cuticle!! Thanks , I really have had the wrong idea about getting long healthy nails. I was using the strengtheners and hardeners you name it! So I'm gonna GI e your suggestions a try. Ty
Thank you so much! You are my lifesaver. I was scratching my nail polish off (habit :( ) and I peeled the first layer of my nail off! Now it looks really gross and feels rough. At least my nails grow fast so if I just use the right products in about a month my nails will look and feel better! Thank you so much!
I have Hashimoto's (slow thyroid), and one of the symptoms is incredibly dry skin. In the winter, my cuticles are horribly dry. Vaseline is the only thing I apply on top of my cuticle oil. It's the best!
Over summer I had long beautiful nails. But when school started anxiety hit me and I started biting off my beautiful long nails. Now I'm trying to grow them back.
I have that hand cream it's so good it makes my nails so much stronger and I have the burts bees cuticle butter and I have the avoplex cuticle oils by opi I recommend these products especially the Barry m super mani base coat. It's bæ
I know moisturizing and cuticle oil are very important when it comes to nail care also I use nail hardener as a based coat and also paint it under my nails to prevent from breaking.😁 But sometimes that don't work you just have to be cautions.
jrunkles5 Never shower with "naked" nails. When you wear nailpolish they dont soak up as much water. And keep your showers short. Dont stay under the shower longer than necessairy
Love your videos!! I have a question about using solutions with bicarbonate, you mentioned that your nails will become weaker in time if one use bicarbonate solutions, but personally I started a nail routine ,which I do once a weak, that includes a bicarbonate solution and my nails are so strong and long, they have never ever in my entire life been this strong and I've never had this length before. What I do is I soak my nails in a solution of vinegar and bicarbonate ( 5 min each hand) then I soak my nails in oil ( I use sunflower seed oil) / 5 min each hand) . I have been using this method for 6 months now and have not seen any damage... so my question is does what you said about bicarbonate solutions apply to the method Im using ? I dont want to damage my nails, and I assume that they wont get damaged since I've done this for some time now, but just to be sure I would like your opinion on this if you do not mind :)
This was such a helpful video! Thank you. The skin around my nails is peeling a lot and I was wondering if you knew whether cuticle cream would help or hand moisturizer? Thank you so much.
Bellacorra1 you can limit your drinks supplies in your fridge to having only water and at a restraunt just get water.but if that won't work just drink orange juice a cup of that has more water than a cup of water and orange juice taste pretty good!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻hope this helped!!!👍🏻🤗👍🏻🤗👍🏻🤗👍🏻🤗😝🤗😌
They are genetics unfortunately. You can't change your nail bed length but you can make them appear longer by keeping your cuticles pushed down and tidy.
My nails are semi strong ever since I started taking better care of them. But I have really short (well they're not wider than they are longer) but they're still kinda short.. Do you have any tips on how to lengthen your nail beds?
Hi, I need a help. I am a woman who has been suffering from brittle nails for almost many years now. I have tried all tricks in the trade and nothing seems to be working. I was advised to be on a calcium rich diet and also take vitamin D supplements to help overcome the problem. However the problem never really got any better and over the past years it has been only getting worse. Frankly speaking, is there any which can be done to get my nails back to my original shape?
My nails use to be paper thin and always bent (one of the worst feelings in the world, along with nails on a chalk board) since I have stopped biting they have become stronger but now I am working on growing out the nail bed.
Abigail Almendarez hahaha nope! We have 40 degree Celsius winters spent at the beach or inside in the aircon. The oven rarely gets turned on so we have pre prepared food usually or suffer in the heat. It's very different to the northern hemisphere's Christmas.
Abigail Almendarez nope. Southern hemisphere is different in terms of summer and winter because of earth's rotation. But its kinds cool that when its winter here in the U.S. it's hot as can be in Argentina lol.
I have a question love my nail polish comes off after I take a hot bath I don't do it often but it irritates me I know this is dumb but I just love hot baths and I notice that it's because of that I try waiting till my nails are completely dry but could it be the base coat I use and what can you recommend from this not happening thanks and your nails are beautiful
Kalel's Korner Whatever you like! I love OPI, Essie and China Glaze the most but don't stick to the usual rule of brights for summer. I love any polish any time of the year.
I like sinful colors but...some of them are really thin like mango burst..that ones terrible. But I do like sinful colors and Revlon (I prefer Revlon top speed)
puppypaw1237 aj I'm waiting until my house is finished being built as I can do a nail room tour :) At the moment I have my polish on wall racks, in a helmer and in boxes because I have limited space.
Do you have any tips for nails that bend but don't actually snap? (my nails are very weak, I used to bite them all the time, and now that I've started growing my nails it's very annoying!)
I can't have long nails because I play guitar. Some guitarists keep long nails on their strumming hand but for me, it hurts to strum with long fingernails. You also can't have long nails on your left hand because of chords, so it ends up looking really strange that one hand has long nails, and one hand has super short nails.
My nails are sometimes perfectly healthy, but sometimes starts to peel. They're not brittle by any means, but the top few layers tart to just peel off. Do you have any tips on how to prevent that? (P.S I'm a new subscriber, and I already love your videos. Keep up the amazing work!)
I've got the lemony flutter cuticle cream from lush it works so good!!!! It lasts a long time but after a while it starts to stink but still works I suggest everybody gets it😂
Idk why but i think when you're in water, you get longer nails. Whenever i go to a waterpark, i stay there for hours and when i go home, my nails are longer than before
OMG I followed you on instagram along time ago and right now I was just watching nail videos and I saw your profile pic and I was like omg I know this girl 😂
Sometimes it is just genetics that cause that but I would suggest you limit the amount of time you have your nails in or around water especially warm or hot water. Also if you have layers of nail polish on, it can tend to make your nails transparent when you remove it. One more thing; NEVER use pure acetone polish remover. a really good remover like one from Zoya will keep your nails from getting weak and therefore transparent. Hope this helps
My Tipp is: moisturise them daily, avoid bleaching and always use a strenghtener, hardener or a basecoat and avoid letting water soak on Thema, but please still shower
Hello! Is it okay to wear nail polish after your nails have been damaged from acrylics? I hear that you need to let the damage grow out first. Is this true?
Nail polish is fine as long as you don't pick or peel it off. I'd recommend using an opaque polish that only needs one or two shades as it's harder to peel off thin polish and you wont be tempted. Also use non acetone remover to take it off to limit weakening the nail plate. Gel polish is a big no as they usually file the nail and you need to use acetone to remove it and since the nail plate is already weakened and damaged you don't want to make it worse. I HIGHLY recommend nail vitamins as they help grow out the best and most healthy nails you can grow and upping your water consumption to make them nice and hydrated. I grew mine out 5 years ago after terrible acrylic damage. Good luck!
+Carlie Lynn It definitely did. It seems to grow a lot faster now, although I did mistreat it with bleach for a while so it may just be recovering from that.. I've seen it most in my nails, but that's only because i've been looking there for it the most.
baby oil will not moisturize at all! olive, avocado, sweet almond, grape seed, and coconut oil are all great moisturizers. You can even use butters like Shea, cocoa, mango, and avocado butter! Baby oil is pure mineral oil and mineral acts as a coating instead of a conditioner meaning baby oil can never sink in and moisturize. Hope this helps.
i cant use cuticle stuff so would their be another way I could moisturize them and I don't tack vitamin pills because I eat a lot of fruit but my nails stay short while my toenails grow long plus u chew them any tips to stop chewing my nails
myb , drink more water? I don't know , why but when I cut my nails , they grow for one week very long ... Genetic or ... ? 😂 I just apply cuticle oil and base coat ! 😁
You can't fix the damage once it's done unfortunately. Growing it out is the only way to fix them. The vitamins help 100% with growing healthier nails but keep them polished to give them strength while the damage grows out.
finally someone else than simply nailogical that says yellow nails don't matter. great video! Keep up the good work 😘❤️

can't you also use baking soda, lemons and peroxide too??
+Genesis Rashid that really weakens your nails
Hi, Jenna. I just wanted to say that you have some of the prettiest natural nails I have ever seen! I am trying to grow mine out.
How is the smile line on your nails so perfect, mine are always uneven?
Belle Spracklin she files em to shape
Lol you can't file that.
@@magiafeminina4725 you can't file your smile line. You were born with them like that and you can't change it.

Another good things besides acrylics Nexgen is a powder that looks like nail polish and keeps your nails rly healthy and strong I get them done💘😊

paigeepoo94 Yep a cuticle cream will help heaps. Also clip the skin away and dont peel it.

That's not possible. 2 days will give you .3mm of growth.
Just use false nails (the plastic ones acrylics are bad for your nails).
+Nails By Jema. use whitening toothpaste on ur nails and leave it on whil u scrub ur nails with a toothbrush then wash ur hands.

How does it feel to be forced i do not know how it feels
Mia Armstrong it sucks ass i HATE it
My sis does swimming 6 times a week and she has to get up at 5 and swim till 7 AM 6times a week, so u have nothing to complain about

Hey! i have a problem my nails are hard and white but transparent . Any ideas what can i do to have them opaque ?love you
Sometimes it is just genetics that cause that but I would suggest you limit the amount of time you have your nails in or around water especially warm or hot water. Also if you have layers of nail polish on, it can tend to make your nails transparent when you remove it. One more thing; NEVER use pure acetone polish remover. a really good remover like one from Zoya will keep your nails from getting weak and therefore transparent. Hope this helps
Thank you for your answer it's probably because i wash my hands like 50 times a dah
Yay my nails are growing 💅🏽
+loopyluceloveslauren YAY!!!! So happy for you :)
I stopped biting my nails 2 years ago but they keep breaking and take ages to grow! Any tips?
Olive oil, salt and a bit of water is the best use that as a cuticle oil it works 100%

Yes! Use Maya Hennessey's video for more details.
Jema do you live in Queensland because I do and I'd really love to meet you! 😊
Layers of my nails start peeling away. What do I do?
+Hollywood Love lol
Good luck!
Nails By Jema Thank you so much!
so helpful, Thank you!
i just turned 10 my nails are a bit longer than yours but i love how yours look like 3 of mines already broke but its growing well :D
that woollies select water tho 😂😂👌 #livingthataussielife
did taking Swisse show improvements in your hair?
+Carlie Lynn It definitely did. It seems to grow a lot faster now, although I did mistreat it with bleach for a while so it may just be recovering from that.. I've seen it most in my nails, but that's only because i've been looking there for it the most.
you are so right alot of water and Vitamins work I used biotin 5000mg from Costco woks
Can you use baby oil as a cuticle oil?
baby oil will not moisturize at all! olive, avocado, sweet almond, grape seed, and coconut oil are all great moisturizers. You can even use butters like Shea, cocoa, mango, and avocado butter! Baby oil is pure mineral oil and mineral acts as a coating instead of a conditioner meaning baby oil can never sink in and moisturize. Hope this helps.
sorry but there was no link to where i can buy her hands like she said everything she showed would be linked :)
Lol nice one
But what if your 12. I am and I can't just buy half that stuff. I get the water and moisturiser but what about the vitamins and stuff
O thought i was the only one who could break a nail taking clothes out the washing machine lol
+nalisbyjenna basically it grow just a little bit and stops growing how ahould make it grow more longer
How do you stop in grown nails?
i cant use cuticle stuff so would their be another way I could moisturize them and I don't tack vitamin pills because I eat a lot of fruit but my nails stay short while my toenails grow long plus u chew them any tips to stop chewing my nails
myb , drink more water? I don't know , why but when I cut my nails , they grow for one week very long ... Genetic or ... ? 😂 I just apply cuticle oil and base coat ! 😁
kk
theres polish for anti biting.. so aa soon u start biting you'll get a nasty taste in the mouth n tht will reduce from biting your nails
Thanks yous
Check out +Cutepolish instead she's way better and has all the answers to your issues!
I love your nail tho!!!😩
Hey. What if I had done buffing and bleaching to my nails before and it became weak? How do I make them healthy again without those pills?
You can't fix the damage once it's done unfortunately. Growing it out is the only way to fix them. The vitamins help 100% with growing healthier nails but keep them polished to give them strength while the damage grows out.
+Nails By Jema Thanks for the tip!! I really appreciate it!!💜😃
