Thank you Kyle. When I first saw this interview with Stoney, I was hesitant to watch as I wasn’t sure I could handle hearing about Shawn and this being the last BRAD record. Only for the fact that Shawn was a close dear friend of mine and his graduating this world has been very difficult to accept and played a role in leaving my beloved Seattle for the time being. I miss him very much… This made me smile as I knew Stone would be gracious and genuinely upbeat in his words and heart. Anyhow, just wanted to thank you for the smile and much love to my Seattle Family. Shawn Smith Infinitely.
Man a No Code/Yield boxset would pretty much be the ultimate. And another Lost Dogs? Plus a new record? The next few years might be very good for Pearl Jam fans.
I love Stone! - I also really feel like sometimes when you listen to him, it sounds like he looks at Pearl Jam not as something he loves, but something he understands, and has diligently understood for a long time, that we all do and it affords him the opportunities to create other music that he's more passionate about.
Yo... Well said. Yeah, my eyes have really opened up over the last few years with regards to Stone & his role in PJ, & in particular how he put his own ego aside in order for the band to weather some really rocky parts of their career during some of the 'middle years' (like maybe "Vitology" thru "Binaural") that basically saved them from imploding all together. I've been a huge fan since day one, but really only ever remember hearing little bits here & there about things w/in the band. But now that decades have gone by & the industry has been completely flipped on it's head, guys like Stone have really opened up in interviews about things like never before. I have tons of newfound respect for him..
@@mandalorian48 yeah, thanks. i totally agree with you! I wonder if 25 years ago it was as easy to make, , publish, and distribute music as it is today if it would have been easier for the guys to go their separate ways during some tough times. - Thankfully, we didn't find out!
@@DanOpallo Excellent point, man. ..Cuz' once they signed a huge, multi-album contract with the almighty record company - they (like Tool & a few other bands of the era) really had no choice but to either work things out amongst themselves or take huge loses & go in debt to the record company. ..PJ (& in particular Stone for his part) is a great example of ppl setting aside egos to adhere to the ethos of "the sum is greater than the parts"... There's a great quote from Chris Cornell about how baffled many of their peers were that PJ somehow found a way to stay together when almost all American bands just don't. Yeah, like you, I'm just greatful they 1.) All survived, & 2.) Managed to care enough about the collective art to keep making more music.. 🤘😎
Thanks for the great interview! I love stone and can listen to him talk about music for hours. Can't wait for the interiors reissue...I love that record!
Cool interview! Mad respect to Stone for his role in PJ & all his many other creative endeavors. I wish other members of PJ were as enthusiastic about the new material & didn't shut down hopes of a new album sometime soon, tho (..I'm look'n @ you, Jeff. lol). Ah well. They're an interesting bunch - & I love 'em all! Long Live PJ & all it's colorful members! & may they continue to put out many more records that enlighten & bring joy to their *legion* of fans. 🤘😎
Ok. I'm not here to criticize cuz we're all PJ fans. But I tire of the band members complaining & regretting the Ten album. There are PJ fans who liked PJ better the farther away it got from Ten & there are fans who loved Ten & the corresponding albums after. I'm the latter who's life was helped by every song in Ten & could feel the song/words/lyrics in my soul. It doesn't matter WHO appreciated or was affected by Ten, it's HOW they were affected & moved by that album. This boo hoo reflection on Ten from fans & bands members cuz it may have been "too mainstream" is frustrating to hear cuz the Ten album found PJ & made PJ! The fans who appreciate Ten as a whole should be appreciated just as much as the non Ten fans.
Ask Stone Gossard if he's watched the latest interview with Dave Abbruzzese? Stone and Eddie seem like the pair that orchestrated his firing. Just both of them being a bunch of pricks really. According to Stone Gossard, they could have done it with any drummer. BS.
Pearl jams first 3 records were the best...all songs were great .later it got to were a few songs on records were ok...but them shitting on ten is wrong because it's still the record we all still hold dear...it was more of a arena hymn album...vs Aldo was amazing it was raw and angry...all phases of PJ have been great and if Andrew is producing the next album iam willing to bet it will have elements of first 3 records but with better playing.. lyrics won't be as angry since Ed is a whole different person now and not as pissed ...I sure it will have some political stuff but that's them.... either way I can't fking wait....
I gotta agree w/ you on not liking some of the PJ members dissing "Ten" the way they do. It was what got them the *Army* of worldwide fans they now have! Sheesh! ..& enough w/ the aweful remixes, already! It's like taking a crayon to a Picasso painting! ..Blarg! lol. (OK I'm done). 😆
Thank you for watching! If you liked it, PLEASE SUBSCRIBE! I’m posting three new interviews every week!

Great interview and if there's another SAD, Alone or Hard to Imagine lurking I'm all in on lost dogs 2
Great Interview. Gotta say that Bayleaf is one of my favorite albums. I also love Moonlander. Stone is such an underated composer.
So happy to hear there's a final BRAD album ❤ Shawn was one of my favorite singer/songwriters of all time. Great interview.

I’ve been waiting on that one! A vinyl copy of Randall’s Island ‘96 would be awesome
Two awesome albums. Love “who you are” off no code.
Definitely.....though No Code practically is already a box set!
Or bring Dave Abbruzzese back would be the REAL Ultimate for Real Pearl Jam fans
Stone rules.

I know Ed loved working with Andrew Watt, but it’s great to see how genuinely enthusiastic Stone is about having working with him.
thanks for holding his feet to the fire on No Code/Yield box set!!! haha great stuff Kyle
Awesome! Here's to a Lost Dogs 2! 🎉
Stone Cold was the first to say it

Great! Waitin’ for Painted Shield 3
Yeah, Vs and Vitalogy are their best, a big part of that is Dave Abbruzzese groove drumming
You will never get the true old pj sound without Dave
Agreed
They try and try but still don’t realise Dave was the the foundation for the Pearl Jam sound

I'm pretty sure it's because it's the record that inspired a million copycats culminating in Creed.

He should have said that Andrew Watt produced recent albums by Ozzy and Iggy Pop, instead of Bieber and Selena Gomez.
