Congratulations on catching our Bass which was good to see. Unfortunately, it is not easy these days to catch big Sea Bass as they are so sought after as a table fish in Europe and therefore, have been under commercial pressure for many years however, there are still some decent fish to be had. You are spot on in using the same methods as your Stripped Bass as so many similarities.
That was a really cool video. Best part is the reaction to a new species caught. That rush is what ignites the hunger to fish on. Neddlefish are very aggressive. I've seen them 3ft when I was fishing in Assateague bay in Maryland and they will cut when removing hook.
MAN I am with you.
I Feel Your Enthusiasm man
big or small we get to write our own stories NICE man
I appreciate you sharing
I look forward to the next one
Dude. That's exactly how I felt on my recent trip to Naragansett. Mostly smaller Bass, but to go to a strange land and locate fish is SUPER gratifying! Awesome stuff.
very cool video! love your excitement when you hooked your first one, i love catching new species as well!
yeah you know how it feels when you go somewhere and know very little and catch nothing so when you get one its like. no f***ing way! haha
Nice work man! Cant beat new fish species on foreing trips.
Awesome intro my man!
could you do more fly fishing salt water bass in the states?....please I'm just starting out and i learn alot if everything watching you you are the best out there!!
Congrats on your first European Seabass! They have just arrived here in the southern parts of Norway so I am hoping to get contact with my first of the year soon. They do get big over her. My friend caught one big Bass, 4.2 kilos. It had been feeding on crabs and was fat as a pig. He caught it on a fly with his flyrod to. Always good videos from you. All the best, Eivind.
Eivind Berulfsen thanks man! Good luck getting your Seabass! I wish I had my fly rod over there that would have been epic.
Very nice!
if you're in a restaurant back home they're called bronzini or branzino in restaurants and fish markets here. they're delicious and very light and super popular, especially here in Jersey.
That's awesome bro I'm heading up to Spain and this is a big help
Awesome glad to hear!! Have a great trip!!
How would you compare the way the European Sea Bass fought and hit your lure vs striper of the same size on same setup?
^
about the same as a schoolie bass back in the states. I think they can can get up to like 20lbs so then you would be in for a better fight.
Every time I see branzino in the grocery store, I can’t help but think they’re related to striped bass! That was 3 years ago, and I didn’t even know striped bass that one catches from the lake were originally saltwater based. Later did I know! Anyways keep up the great work on your channel💪💪💪
good stuff
Awesome job with the video
thanks man! Tight lines!
nice video and congrats for your first ever european seabass.
the needlefish is garfish for sure. you can catch them right this time of year along the shore. they are tasty in fact and their bone is green color.
Thanks for the info glad you enjoyed the video. I've caught the gar fish/needlefish back in the states but like really tiny ones.
Caught my first ever stripers yesterday. I live in an overall shitty fishing area, but I have a river with a bunch of schoolie stripers, and even the little guys fight so much better than all the freshwater fish I catch
just curious - do they have bait and tackle shops you could film different styles of lures rods reels different makers?
Nice one , Rich! I wonder if the bigger ones fight as hard as stripers. Either way it looked like you were having fun....that's what counts.
Fishing Buddy 360 yeah these little guys were feisty. They made the day and part of the trip it was just like catching schoolie stripers.
I live in Portugal, on the coast. These are abundant where rivers enter from the sea. Marinas tend to have schools of them. They are pretty fish and i am getting ready to give them a go. They are HIGHLY prized as a food fish.
Though they supposedly run up to 3 feet, most I see (daily) are about 14 to 18 inches. Diawa sells a rod and reel combo specifically for them, that I will try. I am currently researching line and rig types.
Where in Portugal do you live? I live just a few miles west of Lisbon trying to catch sea bass for over a year now. No luck so far in the area of Cascais and Guincho. Wanna go and hunt them down together?
@@dankay7982 hi dan, I live in Viana do Castelo, the Robalo are commonplace here. for the most part I see people fishing from the bank at the river mouth. the serious fishermen go offshore for them.
@@sepharad58
Oh, you're up north. Too far for a quick robalo session after work :)
I am trying it here at the mouth of the Tejo around promising looking structures but nothing so far. Well, the winter is coming and with it the bass.
The best time is when the sea is chucking out huge swells
Nice bro
Thanks Andy!
I'm 30 seconds in, that was a dope intro
Haha thanks man yeah it was crazy some of the ships coming I had to set the camera down and film. Music was made by my friend.
Do they get big like stripers or are they smaller?
The bigger fish nosing down on the rock were probably mullet.
Cool video bud congrats on the new catch. You check your fb messages?

hey rich ! still didn't received my shirt :(
Hey Chris sorry I personally shipped out another shirt yesterday so it should be there soon. Sorry for the hassel I would love to send you out a pendant or something for your inconvenience. My print/shipper addressed the package wrong the first time which was lost. Then they printed another one to send to you which they addressed incorrect again so that was returned to my house which I then personally shipped the shirt myself to you yesterday. Long story short i am incredibly sorry and have ceased working with the current print company. Let me know when you receive the shirt.
FishAholic Fishing you don't have to do anything extra. I'm a patient man, when ever it gets here I'll let you know and I'll post a picture with it lol. tight lines bud !
Similar to the Japanese sea bass.
