Be interesting to see if fixes it long term or if it will return as the voltage drops on the new battery.

Yea, it was a bit of an odd one. Seems all good now, me thinks the fuel pump which primes for 5 seconds was just playing up and kept priming which had the engine check light flickering and with ASD relay ticking away... Not enough correct voltage so the PCM was stopping the car from starting.
Seems all good now with new battery... fingers crossed.
