How Much Does it Cost to Run an Air Conditioner?

- In this video I show you a simple formula which is Volts × Amps = Watts
Please understand that the electric furnace would not run all year long. It would only run during the fall and winter..

I just wanted to wish peace and prosperity and blessings to you and your family. You have a beautiful family. I love that you include them in your work. That’s very noble of you.
I hope everyone enjoys the video.
I want to mention in this video that I did a calculation estimating the electric furnace running year round.
The furnace would only run during the fall and winter usually.
All questions are welcome. Thank you so much to everyone who comments likes and That watches the video. 😊
Calculating the daily runtime at 6hrs/day would be dependant on insulation and heat gain. 6 hours a day brakes down to 15 mins per hour. I often work on older homes so generally calculate the runtime at 20 mins/hr. Have even seen worse in old trailers with the uninsulated ductwork under the floors. Heat gain and loss is the real enemy... next to the thieving electric companies themselves
Good Evening Mr. Tad. I always love your videos. I think you are a great example of good people. I am not a fan of mini splits. Any money the customer saves on electricity, they better put in a safe place. They will need all of it and more for the very high cost of maintenance and parts on those units. They also need to make sure they keep some paint around to match their wall color. They'll need it. I hope your evening is happy and healthy. 🙂
I’m trying to figure out why they would need paint to match their wall color? Can you please elaborate on the comment… I’m just confused on why they would need paint to match the wall color… Thank you.
Thank You, Tad. I just can't tell you how many mini splits I have gone on where the evaporator drain pan stopped up and poured water down the wall under it. I am 68 and from the old school. I just think the customers are paying way more to stay comfortable. Mini splits have complex systems with sensitive electronic equipment in harsh climates. That is not a healthy combination. I am from the old school though and I don't like electric vehicles for the same reason. You are an awesome human being. I know your family is really proud of you. Thank you for taking the time to reach out. 🙋♂️
On top of TaddyDigest comment; I doubt anyone as of 2024 has a 100% electric heat (resistive). Even older cheaper mobile homes where central / ducted heat pumps. I agree there are some older homes without ducts. Mountain cabins.. where mini splits are good solutions. OR spot cooling like that hot sun room / play room off the back of some big house that is always hold / cold. A mini split head on that sun facing wall is a good solution.
Great video Tad, love the variety of hvac content. How efficient is the electric furnace compared to the mini split and is the mini split able to provide the same heating compared to the furnace?
I have a Gree 3 ton 20 seer inverter, average watt usage when peak around 1.2kwh but it can come down all the way to 600 watts that is the beauty of an inverter mini split, even if I do the calculations for 1.2khw x 12 hrs a day 14.4 kwh at my current rate is around 0.13 cents (power usage and also what the charge to generate) I can run my mini split at 77F and it will cost me $56 dlls.
Hi Tad…. Nice video,… But I’m just trying to follow everything… Did you figure that they were running the electric furnace year-round? Typically they would only be running the electric heat in the winter time… Not sure if that’s a mistake in your calculation, or not… Just wanted to raise the question, you have a good evening
I should have been more specific about the fact that it's only gonna be running in the winter
Thank you for letting me know. I did not even think about this
What about Gas furnace with an ecm motor?
#giveaway - Who knew ! Interesting, Thanks Taddy
Good video
Glad you enjoyed
👍👍
Can you make same calculations for heating? With pump?
yes
Also can you make video turning cooling unit to cooling and heating unit 🤔 that's little bit harder put doable 😁 many would add heating if they know that can add heating 💁🏼♂️
Cooling is more likely 1/2 and heating 1/3 kw per cooled or heated kw..
I think there's still federal tax credit for it still 🤔 many don't know it 🤔
Really wish you were in my state!!!
I was quoted $30,000 for a mitsubishi hyper heat mini split with 4 ceiling cassettes all 9k.
I have a 2 bedroom 1 bath home.
$30k for a home my size, 1200sqft, seems crazy to me.
Any thoughts?

@TaddyDigest Level 4,5 or 6?
You'll send me what I need? Will hvac companies install equipment that I supply?
Sorry I'm a bit confused. 🙄
Way out of control.
@scotm2949 they might but will give you 0 warranty
Do you have forced hot air. Any ductwork existing. You can put an inverter outdoor unit and feed a cased coil that sits on your furnace.
First!! Yes!! Finally!! 🥹
@TaddyDigeest sorry I don't understand, did I win something 😅
That is a spammer. Look at the extra e in the name
@@TaddyDigest aw snap, thought I finally won something... Thanks for the heads up
Those mini splits will not keep up in extremely cold temperatures due to poor conditions of the trailer itself,is there insulation for the floors? This will be based on keeping the temperature in the crawl space manageable, great video though
heats in 5 degree weather
and where I live we only have ten degree weather for maybe one week
@@TaddyDigest but did you do any calculations?Heat loss and Heat gain of the trailer?im not doubting your expertise but just trying to gain some knowledge in case I run into this situation,Thanks
I could only calculate what is existing, and yes, of course I did
But the customer is getting a new roof can a couple weeks so that will change everything
@@TaddyDigest Definitely will
In under developed country like INDIA power cost is twice than US
No way your math is right. $.08/kw is probably just supply. Your electric company charges you for delivery, too. For instance by me, they charge $.10/kwh for supply and almost another $.10/kwh for delivery. Makes the math so much more in favor of heat pumps
My calculations are not exact
It's just an example to teach others how to use the calculation
You should make s video showing exact calulations. This is close enough.
