You guys are my wife and I's inspiration to move to Madeira. We are planning that move sometime in 2025, so very much in the initial phases at the moment. Interesting that you mention it took 18 months to make the move. Can you confirm that was just all of the post Brexit red tape, or did you choose to take this time to simply get everything in place?
Hi John! Lovely to hear from you. There were a few contributing factors. A big one was not being able to travel to Madeira because of covid so this held things up. Then the logistics of retiring early, sorting finances, selling our house and getting everything in place to leave the UK. Even now we have bought our house and started renovations we are told by our lawyers it could take about 18 months to get our Golden Visa. They have not even been able to submit our Golden Visa application because of issues with SEF. It is a long process, not for the faint hearted! You need to be 100% committed 💚 Next video coming soon!

How many times did you visited the Island before you moved?
We visited 3 times. The first time was a holiday and we just knew Madeira was the place for us 💚 Then twice more to view the property we wanted to buy. We would have visited more but Covid was stopping us travelling.
How will you get on when you come to pension age? I believe that Uk pensions will remain at the rate they are without any further increase!

Uk state pensions are not frozen at the first day of claiming rate in EEA countrie. Therefore UK State Pensions taken in Portugal will increase in line with the Triple Lock under current UK legislation.
