It's not near as bad as you see on the internet. It's really important to keep it in it's parameters if you want a smooth drive. For example, when I bought it I was having issues when I was accelerating from stop and you could expect to be something with the gearbox. I did a re-learning that costed me 70 euros and nothing happened, the gearbox was ok. And then I did a throttle adjustment (20 euros) and problem solved. I'm thinking of driving mine in manual mode 100%, that way I get to change gear when I want and I will be in control all the time. What do you guys think? Is that a good idea? Actually now I will drive in auto and will change to manual in traffic jams.
I always drive it in manual mode. There is the thing with ishift. It tends to get to know you and your flooring habits. It understands that you are going for a quick run and it disengages the clutch faster making the shifts quicker. The only issue is that, once it thinks your driving fast it will keep thinking that for quite some time and end up with some stupid jerks and hiccups when lifting off for example. You get used to it like every other gearbox. What i would recommend is that you use a thicker premium oil for the engine if you got high mileage. Honda recommend 5w30, i d suggest 5 or 10w40 premium oil. When i first got it, i emptied the engine oil on my first big spirited trip (around 2000 kms) and got a low engine oil dashlight. I got scared but a honda mechanic said its quite normal for these engines to consume oil when driven in "vtec" so if the oil is cheap and thin it gets burned and the entire car smells awkward afterwards. I refilled with 10w40 SHELL and went for an entire 10000 km without an oil change and no issues whatsoever.
Hello, i got the same car and i have one problem with the heat system and ac, they both dont work when buttons are pressed, do you have any idea why and how can i resolve this ?
Hey, I have the diesel variant, mine doesn't work too great either. Does anything appear on the dash when you press the buttons? Or it doesnt even show that you changed anything on a dashboard? First of all, check the fuses. If something appears on the dashboard and the settings you change appear but nothing happens, could be the fan problem. If it all works but you get no cold/hot air then probably you have an air bubble in the interior radiator or whatever its called.
After checkig the fuses if the problems are not resolved, i'd take it to the mechanic, ask him to check it all out without fixing it first, to know the price and what it might be. Also check the honda forums on facebook, Honda community is very helpful.
