It's actually a cut that ensures precise felling, however, you're right, seems to be completely unnecessary here. Maybe they were practicing the method??.....
Interesting way to help ensure the tree falls exactly where you want it to. I wonder how well it works on a tree that's leaning where you don't want it to go
There are a lot choppers working the great American landscape that use proven felling techniques. There sure are a lot of couch potatoes that own a saw too. Less is better sometimes.
@@StoptheLie I'm no couch potato and definitely no pro either. I recognize tree felling and even just trimming as being very dangerous for all and most especially for amateurs! Some have said here that this technique shown was overkill for this situation. I leave open the possibility that this might have been a teaching effort.
@@FTStratLPI don't either unless it was meant purely as a demonstration for the technique, there was no need for any of that excessive work in this situation
Coming from someone who has worked in the tree surgery/forestry business 39 years i don't see the point in this type of felling cut.Especially when you had a track machine pulling the stem over.A waste of fuel.City slickers will like the vidio though😂
You could get 3,000 beavers and let them chew the tree down But tell the mayor to evacuate the street Reason- Beavers don't want to listen while they chew
@@FTStratLP if the demo was on a complete standing tree that had to be dropped in an exact spot, the clip would have been more impressive. The sawyer knows what he is doing and he handles the saw like a pro so that wasn't my critique. I've dropped hundreds of trees that we couldn't get bucket trucks near and a pull rope was my only insurance. Many times just wedges in a good backcut and directional face cut was all that was needed. I cut all over the country and out west we used hydraulic jacks placed below the backcut to drop big trees. The demo cut was definitely a great way to educate one on how it is done but since it requires more labor/time, I'm not sure if I'd use it that much - but if a feller needs extra insurance in certain situations, why not utilize every advantage you have in your tool box.
@@StoptheLieI just figured it is a well done demo. I actually like the idea of a single plunge cut to discover any potential unknown internal rotting that might cause a dangerous fall
Apparently, you never used a battery powered chain saw. My two 56 volt, 7.5 amp batteries in my snowblower will out perform most gas powered on the market. Step on the gas pedal of a Tesla and you could hurt your neck. The market will adjust to the demand so no need to get political but trumper's are fools🇷🇺🤡🚼🍼🤓
I got exhausted just watching you cut this tree down thank you.
An amazing excersise in unnecessary complexity.
Yeah. I agree. I have cut down trees before.
Yeah, but makes good vid....
Thank you!

Couldn’t agree more. Must like to make sawdust. Only thing that makes this exercise worthwhile. IMO
Just notch the damn thing and drop it already 😂😂😂
This is the hardest working man in the tree business 😅
These comments are funny, but everyone of us watched it until the end. Lol!
For maximum eye protection keep the visor in the up position while sawing.

Good question! 😮
THAT'S POISON IVY VINE ON THAT TREE😢😢😢
Well, we made no money on this job, spent it all on fuel for the saw lol
Muy buena forma de hacer serrín 😂
There was room to drop 5 trees that size in that area, and do it in the same amount of time as this one. JS
Aqui da Amazonas Brasil, muito inteligente.....
Whole lotta' "arm chair quarterbacks" on here!

I agree with you. Please read my last reply to FTStratLP about his comment.
If it was just a demonstration of technique then well done, if it was for a purpose it was a waste of time.
Nice !! What is the cut called ? What’s the purpose of cutting method
The purpose is make a grooved to guide the location down
WOW.. Good technic. 👏👏
Blade seemed dull
I'm not walking, much less sawing, in the face of the notch
Finally, I own wedges and a 3lb hand sledge
But... nice Performance..😊
This is a first I've ever seen...
The ultimate idea
I dunno man, definitely feel pretty cool
What did you gain by cutting a 50 year old tree ?
To keep it from getting older and collecting social security.
Practice makes perfect
What are you doing? Notch it, back cut it, and bang it over.
You don't get it, do you?

Losgeht way to cut a tree .
😂😂
Swedish unercut is all that was necessary to direct the direction of the fall..
All that to cut down a tree? Far out, we never did it that way at all.
Proved he has no business cutting trees.
Impressive ♧
Well that's how you make a simple job a lot harder must be paid by yhe hour.

That was a waste of time and the most ridiculous cut for a short trunk that was tied off.
I geuss you just don't understand what he is doing.

You don't have to go through all that

Safest way to fell a tree I've ever seen. I don't know why there was a second notch cut though.
Longest
Do that with a battery power chain saw
That what the democrats want for your future

Why??😢
