- Man, what a sneaker. Totally love the New Balance 990 v5. No hype here, just pure love. When you talk about NB, one of the first things that comes to mind is superior quality.

A few years ago i got discouraged by New Balance as I would buy their top of the line and they would not last. Those were made overseas. These 990's are made in the U.S.A. and from what I have read they are holding up just fine. Much better build quality overall obviously. Made in Lawrence Massachusetts. Works for me.
I dig them. I'm a big boy and the they offer the most support. Been wearing them for years and yes they make great grilling shoes..
I think you are quite spot on with the straight forward answer as to why these shoes are so expensive. I own a couple of 574s and absolutely love them so I am hard pressed to really perceive differences in manufacturing quality. As an American I’m proud to purchase my 990 V 5 but completely understand that they are far too expensive for such a low key sneaker. I personally use them as my gym/ running shoes and love the amazing support it provides. So I don’t know that made in America instantly makes these superior in any way but from my perspective, it’s nice to support local manufacturing when I can afford it. Especially if it’s for a company that treat their employees well. Great video!

I wanted the black 993 and the grey 990v5 but my size is gone in the black 993. This video definitely made me feel better about saying fuck it and just switching the two and getting black 990v5 and grey 993’s. 😁 great video man.
Great show and a wonderful review! I was torn between the Black/Silver and the Castlerock Gray. Ended up purchasing the gray.
I wanted a very comfortable show to walk 6 miles around Manhattan. I'm between a D and an E, and the 990v5 was easily the most comfortable. I also tried several adidas Boost models and Nikes. Both were a little too narrow. The best thing about the 990v5 was the all-day comfort. I could wear them for 12 hours and my feet felt fresh. A great shoe!
Appreciate the kind words Bill. The gray one is a great purchase. The New Balance banner color is gray, and you got an iconic gray 990 v5! Yeah these are not as squishy as the boost or react but they do provide all-day comfort. Love my pair. when im not wearing them im holding them in my hand. Or staring at them. haha.
got the 990 v4 for over a year now...they are so comfortable than my ultraboost & my vapor max ...now, m waiting for my 990 v5 in castlerock, magnet and white...this model m990 sg 5 is dope!...😇

I only have one new balance a 999 elite pinball (Green)...saw it at the back wall of oregon outlet in silang a few weeks ago, I think it's a 2015 release and it was sitting there and collecting dust as the box was already badly damaged.

I..... don't get these. I tried these on in store and I walked away with an overwhelming sense of "M'eh" 😑. Are they super comfortable as everyone say? Nah. They are not uncomfortable. But as we are all spoilt by Boost and React and HOVR etc. it is hard to feel impressed with what the 990 offers. Do they look good? Well they don't look terrible. But they are dad shoes in the pre-ugly dad shoes hype kinda way, in that I can actually see real dad and Grandpa pulling these off no problems, as opposed to like a pair of Yeezy 700 or Puma Thunder. Are the material incredible? Not that I can see. If they are charging the high price simply because of the high salary cost of manufacturing I can understand....but to state that they are superb in comfort or quality or material or style is quite a stretch. That's just my take on these.
All valid points brother. Totally hear you. Tastes prevail in the end. I would say though that the 990v5 is insanely marked-up outside the US. And theyre already expensive to begin with. Competition in the lifestyle/athletic category is fierce. Other brands do stand out, and NB made in the US, for now, is a niche brand. Awesome insight bro.
@@SeanStaMaria Agree on the markup. There is certainly a disparity between what you have to fork out and what you are getting as a product; the value proposition is just not there IMHO. I am at a loss at how hyped these sneakers are with the sneakers community and Shoe-tubers in general. Sure for Americans there's the "Made-in-the-USA" aspect....but I digress. And as you say taste is surely subjective to say the least.

Minus all the tiny nuances, that's all there is to it I guess. MIUSA sneakers are automatically limited for obvious reasons, and that's what appeals to sneaker collectors. Exclusivity. Being part of a small circle. That's what appeals to humans in general if we're talking strictly psyche. We tend to desire what is difficult to acquire. Kudos to people who have risen above this! haha. Manufacturers and loyalists will be quick to point out though that miusa has better quality (and helps keep jobs local, among other things) and that's the selling proposition. Debatable, right? I hear you man. I indicated production cost exclusively because it's absolute. Quality of materials isn't, if you know what i mean. Some Asia 574s are way better made than other 990 releases. Cheers bro. Be safe.
