@@JustJamie1983thats for sure, i would love to go back and spend a few months in 1985. Who would have thought back then that the world in 2023 would be so crazy. And we still dont have flying cars or hoverboards.
@@JustJamie1983 yeah playing all the dizzy games on the amiga in retrobat unlocks memories i forgot i had and instantly takes me back. Funny in a way how back in the 80s we all looked to the future as some marvelous technological dream and here we are. Smartphones and men who think they can get pregnant is not what i imagined.
@cocktailzombie technology was a great idea. Problem is. We have used and abused it and forget that this was in fact an idea to reunite lost friends once and learn things during the infancy of RUclips. The new generations didn't see that progression and take the Internet for granted and use it as a tool to do whatever they like.
This is a really good list. Happy to see someone with similar tastes to me 🙂There are some games that usually do not show in other lists and I like such as Bugy Boy, Rex, Pac-mania, Rastan, The New Zealand Story, and Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge. Not in this list that I also liked are Ikari Warriors, Mad Mix Game, Nigel Mansel, La Abadía del Crimen, The Sentinel, and Spirits.
Where is Jet Set Willy? And I really liked that WW2 bomber sim where you played a member of the crew. Oh, and if anyone knows the name of the game where you are in a dark mountain in semi-2D and it has 2 musical channels playing, I'd love to know it. It was apparently the first game with two music channels on the ZX Spectrum.
To be honest. I'm not overly keen on JSW and I aim to be a little more creative with my reccomendations. Most videos will mention the obvious. Although I did manage to pop Manic Miner in their.
I still played emulated versions of some of these. Sabre Wulf, but was also a big fan of 'Halls of the Things', and 'Android 2'. All incredible achievements when you think of the constraints of the time.
Emulation is quick and offers just as good job if not better than a real Speccy obviously depending on the emulators accuracy. Issue is with ZX Spectrum hardware is that it is very old now and tech dosent last forever.
All these best games lists will always have huge gaps. It's a personal perspective and thus much appreciated. 😊 So here come my personal favourite games which are missing here: Ant Attack (3D with different camera angles), Dragontorc of Avalon (beats Skyrim in playability), Lords of Midnight and Doomdark's Revenge, Zynaps, Carrier Command (2D only on C64), Trap Door, Exolon, Quazatron (What is Paradroid anyway?😅), Jangler (very unknown ), Vectron (Tim Follin did an amazing 48 kB tune and the game is very demanding), Metal Man Remix, Valley of Rains, Angels, Roger the Pangolin, Penetrator (Scramble with level editor) Oh, there is so much more, like Rebelstar 1 and 2, Lode Runner, Stunt Car Racer, Laser Squad, Hero Quest and all those wonderful adventures like the Hobbit, ah, and Elite, of course! The C64 often did not get a (decent) version of many 3D games due to lack of CPU speed. Examples are Carrier Command (see above), Starion, Starglider 1 and 2, both Starstrike games, especially the second one with solid 3D graphics. There are more than 20.000 games to choose from on the ZX Spectrum, on the C64 no less, I presume. If we only really get to grips with the best 1 percent of that library, we are occupied for life. Retro gaming is so much fun! On any retoro platform! Greetings to all those Commie users, Atari XL fans, Amstrad CPC and MSX affictionados!❤
Great games from my favourite 8-bit, I picked a top 10 on my channel, incredibly hard, as I could have chosen another 50 at least to be in it 😂 Great content dude 👍
I'm biased, because i love C64 and have never played a Spectrum game yet. A bunch of games really look to be fun. Some have a great soundtrack (is that the standard Speccy soundchip?), but many have annoying sfx or music to rip your ears off. Buggy Boy is a legend on C64. This version here looks totally different with that huge buggy. Moon Strike is pretty slow, but nice music. Chase HQ looks like the C64 version (which looks nice for Spectrum, but really bad for the 64...). 11 games have a monochrome playfield which i don't mind if the game is fun. I'd prefer that to heavy colour clash. Nice video, as always! But there's one game i can't see why it should be on this list: Wonderboy. Monochrome playfield, a 5 second loop as soundtrack (not really, but almost) and not very smooth scrolling. The game itself is an okayish-nice classic, but this version isn't great, "even" for a Spectrum game. Are there people out there who like the Speccy port? Just curious...
Me too. C64 fan all the way but I have admired Speccy for years now. You Should see some of the homebrew games coming out these days. No colour clash etc.
Are a lot of these from the new spectrum ? as the music was never this good as it only had the beep beep sound :-), my favorite game was jetpac but to be honest anything ultimate did was top notch.
@@JustJamie1983 Very cool! Almost looks like a clean CRT and how it looked back in the day, but cleaner. Will be cheking out your other videos and thank you! Getting so much nosalgia from this video as we speak. Great stuff!
@@JustJamie1983 I love a lot of modern games. I love Fortnite and Elden Ring. PS: I played Saboteur (ZX Spectrum version) recently and still holds up! Great game! Firelord (Hewson) was another fave. I'll shut up here, before I write an essay! Lol.

I don’t think I enjoyed gaming as much as I did with my old speccy. You missed some superb games like way of the exploding fist, Dragon Ninja, yie ar kung fu and who dares wins 2.
@@JustJamie1983 I never had c64 myself. I knew they were superior with graphics and sound but something about the speccy made me never bothered about going over to the dark side.
@@JustJamie1983 I did not know that, I have not played a Spectrum since the 80s. Unfortunately my spectrum and Amiga had been slung out many moons ago, I am on the edge of buying an Amiga though, thanks for the vids and nostalgia.
