Hello everyone! I just thought I'd write a single comment, a year after uploading, to address some of the things you've all been mentioning in your comments.
    - I only chose the eight Honourable Mentions! I didn't choose any other games! I disagree with quite a few titles, but the video clearly has Amiga Power in the thumbnail and title, so don't shoot the messenger.
    - The algorithm I chose was very simple but did a reasonable job of ranking the games ACCORDING TO AMIGA POWER'S WISHES. If a game you don't like is high and one you do like is low, it's not my fault. For example, Frontier: Elite 2 was included at the bottom of ONE of the six lists, so naturally it's extremely low in my list. Nothing I can do about that.
    - Don't take the ranking so seriously: it's just a rough way of putting the 292 games from Amiga Power's lists in some kind of order.
I'm glad you all enjoyed watching all these great Amiga games - even if you didn't agree with their place in my silly list! Happy new year! 😃

How can you have a best Amiga games list without Moonstone, that's blasphemous!!!

    • @madcommodore
      @madcommodore 2 года назад +16

Because Amiga Power were as much idiots as the reviewers at Amiga Format that gave Deluxe Scrabble 25% more than Shadow of the Beast 1 in the same issue despite it costing only 7 bucks less and it was a game for LOSERS! ;) Few people had the IQ and technical knowledge to review Amiga 1000/500 etc games properly.

@@garyhay6771 I remember their review of Fears I think it was and all they could moan about was "it isn't Doom so it's crap" but actually Fears had much more creepy ambient background sounds on the level of Blair Witch creepiness. I had already stopped trusting reviews when in 1989 Amiga Format gave £27.99 Deluxe Scrabble 87% but only gave Shadow of the Beast 65% or something. I bought an Amiga to play arcade quality games not scrabble! lol I had a 520ST for that :)

Most obvious to me missing was MOONSTONE.
Unbelievable that it wasn't on the list, probably one of the best Amiga games I've played.
Maxis' Robosport, DataStorm and also Z-Out, the latter worth it just for Chris Hülsbeck's incredible soundtrack alone also strangely absent.
Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2 would also have fit right in.

I have a huge problem with this list. I’m wondering, if the author is trolling us, to generate controversy. In separate comment I’ll put my missing games, but I just wanted to tell You, that You’re completely right. Moonstone is easy a top 10 Amiga game for me, but a 300 titles list without it is wrong. Simple as that.

I loved my Amiga, but I didn't have too much money for games, so a lot of my favourites are coverdisk games and PD ones, so I didn't expect them to make the list. Mega Lo Mania is one of the most underrated games of all time. I am so glad Speedball2 was number one, would have been a travesty if it didnt place top 5 with Cannon Fodder and The Chaos Engine. A lot of fantastic titles that brought back the feels... but so many Amiga original titles that were freaking awesome were sub 100 which is a real shame. Project X by Team17 was an incredible shooter, as was X-Out and Z-out. Rainbow Arts and Factor 5made a large number of awesome games. Remember Great Giana Sisters and Katakis, obvious clones but as good if not better than the originals. Also did not see the Psygnosis mentioned much, like Agony and Beast 2, Atomino also highly underrated.
Amiga could do some amazing things when put to task.

So Amiga Power decided to put 4 Defender games on this list, but no Datastorm…
They also put both Kick Off and Kick Off 2 on the list, but no Goal…
They also put a number of manager games, but not one of the absolute best - Championship Manager…
The fact that you had to put on Turrican 2 and Superfrog as honourable mentions is… well, typical Amiga Power.
Some games that I think are missing apart from the above mentioned - ATR, Space Hulk, Floor 13, Dreamweb, F-117a Stealth Fighter and more.

My PC and console owning mates and brother had normal Worms but directors cut was what brought them to my house, and with custom voices for the worms each team picked their worms and voices. Imagine coming across an Amiga All Time Top 300 list and you haven't even heard of probably half of it while also half of the games you had and loved are just blatantly missing... (too lazy to list them all, others have mentioned most of them in the comments, probably)
That just proves there's been so many great games, what a time in gaming!

I just realised ufo: enemy unknown wasn't in these lists...
I gather it's against the rules for some reason, but unfamiliar with the rules, I'm unsure why... If the game has to be on amiga first, why final fight / mortal kombat etc?
    Either way, its a classic.

"Pink Panther" is very tough, but visually appealing; The "Battlechess" port is a little sluggish (still trying to configure some more juice for it); Where was "Marble Madness"? An original classic; "Colditz" is surely worth a mention; But "Larn" is another great classic; As is "Mindshadow", "KGB" & "The Clue"; You had "Balance of Power", but not "Risk"; "Hillsfar" has some appeal; I guess you had the important Sid Meir games present, but missed "Pirates"; Glad you inserted "North & South". A comprehensive list for an underated platform nevertheless - Great to see there's still some Amiga Life out there! Cheers, 🐏

I'd say there were a few games that I loved that didn't make your list but I guess thats the beauty of nostalgia and how things were back then. You would never have been exposed to all the games because unless you had deep pockets or friends that had a copy it was a case of just loving what you had.

I never had an Amiga, probably too expensive for me at the time, I went from sega/nintendo to PC, but looking at this, for games, Amiga seems to me to have capabilities similar to that of a Megadrive.
