Chris did not bring anything to light, every tourist that comes to Trinidad is warned about how dangerous it is. A lot of youtubers are talking about something that they have no idea about. In terms of police killing criminals, picture this. A well know singer affiliated with a gang that also sings gang music attempted to kill 6 people so do you know what the court system did? They gave him bail because they didnt die lmaooo. Also those specific gang members in his videos were killed and not arrested, they were actually involved in a kidnapping prior to him coming to record them. So when the police arrest a certain criminal over and over and he keeps walking free, so what do you think the police will do next time when they see that particular criminal element lapsing out the road?

You are Correct as In my opinion he seems to be Exposing a side of Trinidad that outsiders are unaware of. The Gang members saying the Police and Government are uncaring and brutal would be offensive. The Global Exposure would be an Embarrassment for the government. Allegedly Chris had sought help from the Canadian Embassy saying He had received threats on his life from the police and two Politicians. They arrested him the next morning.
