Oh, no. We eat green bean casserole all during the year. Same with cranberry sauce, the veggies and the relish tray. Of course, being vegan, I don't do a turkey, ham or a roast, but as for the rest, even before I was vegan, we ate those dishes any time. They're too good to eat just once a year!

@@jakeoliver9167First... Where do you think the first settlers came from? Of course you'll find several of the recipes that they brought with them here today. Second... The apple pie that was made early on in Britain, contained all sorts of other ingredients like raisins, dates, assorted nuts and dried fruits. So, the apple pie that people see as typically "American" isn't the exact same thing as its predecessor. If you wanted to get technical about it, many foods around the world have origins other than the places they are popular now. Italy is famous for pasta, but it was the Chinese who technically invented the noodle. Are you gonna challenge Italians about the origin of their world famous dishes, too?? Or just Americans?? Sounds like you're still a little salty about a certain tea party. LOL

Pot roast is a goid thing to cook if you have time and other things to do around the house. Put everything in the pot set it over low to low medium heat and let it cook for hours checking on it every 30 minutes or so. The rest of the time you can be doing other chores around the house. And yes it is good forpeople with teeth issues. Plus it is just delicious. And the great thing is beef can be replaced by lamb works just as well. A lot of American home cooking can have ingredients replaced by others to suit personal taste. Other spices to make it spicier or less spicy. Or add more umimi taste.
Ciw milk cheese can often be replaced with goat milk cheese (diesnt work for every recipe but it dies for a lot) and even if you don't go that far you can still switch out a chedder with a Swiss or any number of other cheeses like maybe a pepper jack for some extra spice. Heck some even use meats like alligator in some areas of our country in place of pork or beef or chicken. Or things like possum or armadillo (these last two are often also road kill before they became dinner) or lobster or crab or crayfish/crawdads. We like to experiment with food. It is a result of us having some meny diffrent foods from so meny diffrent places and cultures that we have been exposed to and have adopted and adapted and fused together. This makes us inherently experimental with our foods and not often locked into a traditional recipes (we do have traditional recipes but they are often family or at most regionally or culturally specific). So tell them to feel free to take these foid home and substitute local ingredients and change them to better fit their and their families and villages tastes. And we (or at least I and I think I am not alone) would love to see what they come up with. Because here we have found food and sharing of it brings people together as much as anything else.
