I just realized that in Combined Regiments, Creed is a slightly worse version that Leontus but who cost less than half. Leontus gives you a CP while Creed reduces 1 CP. In fact, if you have a few vox casters, the Creed version is better as you can reduce as many strats as you want with different models, but you can only get 1 CP per turn max, no matter how many ways you can get them. Then Leontus gives 3 orders which are not only Regiment or Squadron, and with that strat so can Creed. Meaning that both have the same number of orders to the same type of targets (one needs 1 CP, but as you said can be easily recovered with vox casters). You trade the relocation for the unit receiving two orders, which is whatever. But Leontus is 150 and Creed is 65. You can have Creed+Command squad for less than the price of Leontus alone.
@@nardic15 the meme is that blood ravens take everything not nailed down. And Trazyn being the biggest five finger discount practitioner I elect him to be their true Primarch
One nice thing Creed also does is make your Cadians cheap and deadly on Overwatch using Heavy Weapons Squads. Cadian Heavy Weapon Squads have a special rule that that hit on 5+ on Overwatch or 4+ if that unit is within 6” of a Cadian Shock Troops unit. So if you flank her blob with say two Heavy Weapon Squads with Lascannons you can shoot them on your turn and then have both of them Overwatch for 1 CP (The regular Overwatch Strategem and a second one for -1 CP cost from her special rule) and hit on possibly 4+ or 5+ at worst.
I do wonder if having a creed command blob bring and ogrin bodyguard with a ripper gun would be actually good? The bodyguards ripper is rapid fire now, so if shes doubling up frfsrf and take aim those are both boosting that chunky ripper gun, basically an extra heavy bolter on the run
It does push the squad up a lot in points. And it's already a reasonable investment in points getting 20 Cadians with full command for her. Could be very fun for casual games though!
Well it only gets one extra attack, so 7 instead of 6, it's not that impressive but still good. I want to run an Ogryn BG sometime but haven't got there yet.
@karlnygren would it perhaps be better deepstriking in alongside a scion blob? Or perhaps scouting up in seige detachment with engineers and a kreig command squad with the enhancment to give them scout? It could also scout alongside a catachan command squad since loyal protector makes it part of the command squad and therefore gain its keywords?
@davidthomas2870 unfortunately it doesn't have nor get the scout or deep strike keywords, every model in the unit must have it on it's data sheet or some ability that explicitly states it gets it. I'm wanting to try it with a Cadian command squad without any attached units since that gives the unit the Ogryns toughness and could hit really hard in melee. But it's probably not worth it in competitive but cool in casual.

i use creed with a 20 man cadian blob with double melta en plasma en a cadian command squad with a plasma and melta, then take aim and first rank second rank on them and its amost as much dakka as a scions blob, it is quite expensive but u can use them as a command blob for 2-3 turns and then counter punch suprisingly hard in a way the opponent doesnt really expect. and it also keeps a large part of the backfield safe.
The regular Castellan gives us sustained hits and fall back and shoot, and at 10 points less. Even at -1 order, the regular Castellan feels like a better choice
Depending on how you use tactical genius, and if you really don't need the extra order, I think I would agree. Tbh, with so many buff to the nb of orders, Creed became less an auto-include that in the begining of 10th edition, even with the +1 order, since many officers that gave only one before give 2 now, so by repartition, the extra order of creed is less valuable than before
At least in the Mechanized Assault detachment being able to jump back inside your transport or rerolling everything on a Kasrkin unit against an objective for free is going to be huge, the stratagems are really good so getting a discount is going to really help out with Command Point economy.
Creed in mechanised detachment can sit in a transport not attached to any unit (using it for protection rather than needing supporting blob of cadians etc), still have room for whatever else in the transport, and use Vox Relay to order three transports anywhere on the table. Move-Move-Move boosting Taurox to M15, Take Aim boosting a heavy bolter chimera filled with Ogryns to BS3+, or even getting Valks to BS3+. Could even have her attached to a karskin squad inside a taurox, use one of her orders to MoveMoveMove her taurox & one of her orders to order other transport in the command phase, then use her third order on her own squad as she disembarks, and then use her free strat to blow something off an objective with Clear & Secure or to get back into the taurox with Hasty Extraction or Move Out. Gives that squad of Kasrkin a range of 15+D6+3", plus an extra D6" if you really want to spend 1CP. It also ties well with a lone commisar with Bold Leadership also in the taurox, giving it sticky objectives, and letting you roll that squad wherever it needs to go, although he's probably better off in a second taurox dropping off a unit of krieg flamers.
@@CommissarChannel regimental priests with vindicators are good for that too now, 35pts and an extra heavy flamer (effectively) poking out the top. They dont strip cover from things like the hellhound though unfortunately.

can someone explain how would you run Hydra's? They don't have indirect fire, so, what, do you drive them around to shoot at people? They're suppose to be Anti-fly, but it sounds like they're okay to use for attacking infantry, etc
Nobody who is serious uses Hydras. There is no good way to use them, they're sub par choices and we have a large list of better units to spend points on. They're an old unit from the fluff but sadly GW doesn't see the need to make the Hydra, Wyvern or the Death Strike useful units.
Hydras still can do decent damage against light vehicles. And furthermore, there's a no minor amount of units with the Fly keyword that are not fliers, like hoverbikes, Custodes vehicles, Vashtor the arquifane and so on.
Hydras have their place as cheap medium armour. Lower rate of fire than a main battle tank but about half - two thirds the cost as well. Their anti fly abilities are very good when they come up and twin linked is always solid. They generally need an AP buff to really be effective but we have access to that quite easily There’s so many fly units in the game… a lot of necron vehicles / mounted units, Eldar vehicles, drukhari vehicles / bikes, Custodes tanks and bikes etc etc
Look into how many units have fly. Hydras are good without orders. Every demon primarch, half marine lists, necrons, alot of eldar. Most armies that don't have fly have light stuff for you to smoke with autocannons.
Agreed that she's a fantastic take but I disagree when you say for any list. Main reason being if you're going tank heavy - outside Combined Arms she's dead weight. Her CP reduction doesn't work on Squadron and without the Combined Arms stratagem she can't order them at all. If you're going infantry heavy however she's phenomenal.

You don't bring a Creed command blob. Solar is better on Hammer of the Emperor. For other detachments, Gaunt is decent as well. I don't see a point of ever bringing Sly Marbo unless you want an Epic hero for pennies.
I mean, she has been an autoinclude for me for a long time. A cheap character that could give 2 orders and has an ability that was not tied to leading a unit (reducing cost of strats by 1)?
