Janet's the blueprint.
I'm going to work tomorrow in all black looking like, I just came off the "rhythm nation" tour with Janet.
Haha!!
You just gave me an idea lol
lol same!
ain't a bad thought its a plus for me black sheds a few pounds from ur image jajajajaja
Jo Dunk Hey how did u get on her team yo I want to
The dancing, choreography, costumes and lighting are in a league of of their very own. Totally off the charts. This should be in a museum. Nobody can compare to Janet. Her authentic beauty and essence is unmatched. A virtual masterpiece of video.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were the 🐐 of the 80s 💣💥🖤
They the best, LA and Babyface too
Janet, Michael, Prince and Whitney were the reasons I couldn't leave MTV alone in the 80's. Their videos stayed in heavy rotaion respectively.
💯
Richard Salmon lucky you. You got to live through the 80’s
You forgot to mention Paula Abdul!!
Richard Salmon I know what you mean. PRICELESS!!!
soooooo trueeee
This choreography is everything. Pop stars don't dance like this anymore.
I LOVE the choreo on this!!
@@kennethbrady According to Wikipedia, Janet choreographed this with Anthony Thomas. I believe Paula worked with Janet during the Control era.
@@nickgreatpwrful5754 Ah...okay, thanks for the info:)
No. We don't see stuff like this anymore.
@@nickgreatpwrful5754 Also Terry Bixler, who made up the cut chair routine from this and specialized in a lot of the popping and locking moves off this album's choreography.
Whos watching this in 2024
Everyone. Stop asking silly questions.

Me too! I heard this song walking outside of a mall & L♡VE this song till this day! Janet is a legend & not even Beyonce or Rhianna can get to her level💯

This song brings me so much joy.
Remember the extended version? At the part where she says, "Is that the end?!" It was, "NO!" followed by another amazing dance sequence. So good.
I was searching for it. It was a beautiful dance part. Why did they cut that part?
@@stanfordcatcayman1407 I remember feeling like I'd witnessed some kind of a miracle when I'd see the extended version with the chair dance on MTV, they didn't show it very often! We had this album on cassette in my household and I remember the song did cut off after the, "that's the end?" I just did a search for the full Rhythm Nation short film (it's about 30 minutes long); this is the first full song featured (you do hear a bit of "Black Cat" during the initial scenes inside the dance club) and includes the extended dance sequence ("That's the end? NO!").
@@TheInfamousChad wow. I didn't notice this. Thank you for the info ❤
I bought the original extended version where she says "Is that the end?" NO!! Love that version so much!!!
I hate when they delete the chair routine. It's EPIC 😎👍

Not quite a good as Control but still a great album.
@@keythdanielsen9315 Control is great too, but for me, some tracks are too long and not as catchy as the cuts of Rhythm Nation.

The director of this video said Janet was OBSESSED making this video RIGHT.
They did close to 100 takes altogether when tallied up.
Every time everyone thought they did the PERFECT take, Janet would turn around and ask, "Gee, do you think maybe we could do just one more ?"
All the dancers worked tirelessly with Janet.
When you think about the crappy videos put out today.
The decision at the time to film the entire Rhythm Nation video in black and white was spot-on.
There's a classic iconic look here that jumps off the screen.

In my opinion, with "social media" dominating modern life, it's disappointing to see how "dancing" has, UNFORTUNATELY, become a "lost or forgotten piece of art."
